Wow, now you guys say its better than motorstorm?
Woah, ease up there, pal. You can stop waving your flag for MotorStorm and put it down. It's all a matter of preference. You just prefer MotorStorm, most of us prefer DiRT.
Ergh. How the heck is it fun racing in one straight line and if you go out at all it turns gray and tp's you back. And you can watch your crashes for what, 2 seconds?
Again, this
isn't the type of racing that MotorStorm conveys. That is an arcadey, exaggerated take on the sport of off-road racing. Nothing wrong with that, but that's what MotorStorm is. It's a matter of preference. Arcade vs. sim. Same way people like NBA2K over NBA Street.
Nowhere have I seen an actual race take place on a plateau with ramps and obvious death traps, not to mention motorcycles vs. semis (WTF?!?) in real life. But that's ok, 'cause that's what they want to have you play. That's fun, but racing a technical race is fun to
us.
Like it's been said, the whole point to rally racing is to beat the clock. It's all about staying on the course. It wouldn't make sense for you to be able to go "off-road" since you'd just be losing time (aka sucking).
This game is also not Burnout. The main attraction isn't to have spectacular crashes over and over. It's about minimizing damage and your time and getting your car to the next stage.
Weee racing the same type of cars around a dirt track with no richness to the enviroment is awsome!
Grass field with a dirt road? I AM THERE! AWESOME!
And the Arizona desert theme in MotorStorm
is richness to the environment? It all looks like the Grand Canyon to me. Isn't MotorStorm just race tracks set atop mesas and plateaus? How diverse can that be? It is quite clear you haven't played any of the other McRae games before since you get to also race in the countryside of Japan, England, Spain, and other countries. There's also different kinds of road surfaces like asphalt, dirt, and gravel on top of dry, wet and snowy conditions. Not to mention the surroundings actually do capture the countries. I've never felt stuck in the Grand Canyon with the McRae games.
Desert canyons with mud pits? I AM THERE! AWESOME!
