I'm sorry that you and your friends didn't win anything because some people entered 800 times. It really isn't fair at all, and I hope the cheaters realize that they hurt everyone else's chances in this random drawing.

Thanks to those who replied that they legitimately won both codes from making only two entries in the final drawing. Since I didn't win a code for each of the four days of the sweeps, I had no way of confirming that possibility.

I won on Apr. 11th (on my first try!) via a text entry. I won on Apr. 12th (on my second try) via a website entry. And yesterday I got a code from one of the two entries I made during those final two days of the sweeps. In hindsight, knowing the shenanigans underway, I'm very surprised at how well I did, especially during those first two days.

My condolences to those who won absolutely nothing, especially thebattlebegins since I probably wouldn't even have known about this promotion without his posting it. That sucks. Y'all still got a shot at that 4000MSP Grand Prize which is even better than having won every day (1600MSP).
ya, but usually promotional ms points expire at some time after u redeem them
The codes expire if you dont redeem them, I've never had any points expire on my account after I have redeemed them and I have gotten points from alot of different contests.

The loophole was fixed after the first day, having absolutely no effect on the amount of codes given out the following three days, so get over it already:booty:

Good luck everyone on the 4000

o ok, i remember seeing someone say that promo points expire. now i dont have to rush and buy something that i probably would enjoy to much :p

Technically speaking, both the codes and the MS Points can expire. And it can be difficult to tell if either apply for codes obtained via online promotions.

Example: the MS points that came with the pre-order of GTA IV expired, which even though clearly stated still irritated a lot of people when the MSP disappeared from their accounts. Then, possibly in an effort to appease the masses, some people were later credited 500 MSP. The exact reason for the 'refund' was not clearly indicated, and it seemed that many people who had used their original 500 MSP before they expired also got the 'refund'.

However, it is common to have promotions refer to expiration dates, when there is none. An example would be the Dream Car promotion, which clearly stated an expiration date that did not apply to the MSP (although it may have applied to the codes). I suspect that this is a common practice to get people to spend the points ASAP rather than let them sit in their account.

Also, although purchased card codes may expire, the MSP you get from retail cards do not.

Finally, I have been told that you can use this page to see if you have any MSP that are going to expire soon: https://billing.microsoft.com/
Click on the 'Points' link, and you should get a warning if any point are getting close to their exp date. I cannot actually confirm this, since I have yet to see expiring points myself.

The Dream Car Challenge had an expiration on the redemption codes only. Once applied to your live account their was no expiration. In fact one of the guys I gave my points to (I had no 360 at the time) has yet to use his points. I believe its the same this time, they just have to be redeemed by that July date.
I finally came back and spotted this thread and was to late. Already ended this Tuesday 4/14
Have you already entered the StarTrek/RockBand one? Less points to win, but it's still active.

Did you actually try one of the codes after the expiration date? I asked around, and nobody I know waited... They all redeemed the codes before they expiration date, and most used the MSP just in case. As far as I know, the actual codes from that promotion may not have expired either.

But, as you confirmed, the MSP definitely did not expire. I know quite a few people that still have MSP left from that promotion, especially the non-stackable 100 msp codes that got redeemed into booster or secondary accounts.

Personally, me thinks the whole expiration date is a scam to get people to spend the points buying stuff they wouldn't otherwise... "Hey, the points are going to expire anyway, so I guess I'll buy a music track, or that XBLA game I was on the fence about"... And then when new DLC comes out they want, they have to go buy MSP cards... If people knew the MSP is not expire, they would sit on their points until there was something they really wanted.

Course, the GTA IV case showed us that technically the MSP could expire, too... And, we all know that certain codes expire... So, that little bit of doubt is all that is needed to throw suspicion on all the promotion points, especially those that don't clearly specify what the expiration date applies to...

Again, use this site to check your points if you think some of them may be expiring soon: https://billing.microsoft.com/

i don't know about MSP code expiration but when i got those old Arcade codes and XBL gold codes from the packages they said to be expired in 2007 but i redeemed them just fine o.o.

Yea I remember buying the Vision Pack that came wit 12 months of live, 200 MSP, Robotron, and Uno, all those codes were supposedly expired in 2008 or something, I used them and they worked perfectly fine.

No, not having a Xbox360 at the time, I gave all of my codes away. My point was that MSN never gave an expiration date for the MSP, and they made it very clear that the February expiration date was only for the redemption codes. I must have misread your post...I thought you had implied otherwise.

It's completely possible that you're right about the general lack of enforcement of expiration dates. I know that I have often come across an old--sometimes ancient--email and successfully tried the one-time use code contained inside, the most recent example being a Braid code from Spike.

If people knew the MSP is not expire, they would sit on their points until there was something they really wanted.
Well, if I knew the codes did not expire, I would definitely sit on those. The main reason I'd prefer to keep my rewards in "promotional code" form is so that they would remain transferable (e.g. usable in a trade, usable as a gift) .

With the StarTrek/RockBand contest do you win MS points or just Rock Band download music?

The StarTrek/RockBand promotion gives you either a XBL or PSN code (depending on your preference) for the purpose of purchasing a Rock Band track, but after redeeming the codes you can use them on anything in the respective storefronts. I believe you get $2.19 for the PS3 and 160 MSP for the X360.

Oh, really, I thought it was only for use with RB songs, cool now I really hope I win some codes. If not, 1 code would be cool, getting new songs for RB is always fun!:bouncy:

Well I won a code via txt message on Friday and ended up deleting all my messages later that night after too many . Anyone know a number I can call or do you think I'm SOL?

I think that the amount of time it would take to get your code back would far, far outweigh the value of 400 points ;)

Well I figured I'd call when I was stuck in traffic on the commute or something, after all, I am a CAG and 400 ms points is 400 ms points!

Wow, believe this or not but I sent a txt to 52580 saying I deleted my code and they sent me another one an hour later. Go figure! :D

Yes, I got that immediate response when I sent the initial txt. The code showed up an hour later so I'm assuming my txt prompted something. Either that or they sent out another round of winners and I won again? :whistle2:k

I just checked the email account I use for entering sweepstakes and got a pleasant surprise.
Evidently, at 5:11pm today, I was sent another 400 MSP code from this promotion! \\:D/

What the hell? I thought this thing was long over.
Looks like I ended up winning a code for each of my four entries after all.
