Disgaea, Atelier Iris, Nocturne, DDS, Riviera, Makai Kingdom all getting reprints!
Just curious, but why 5 copies of Disgaea, especially if only 1 is sealed?
Maybe it's his favorite game and he enjoys collecting them. Kinda like having 5 copies of your favorite basketball player's card.

i guess, although i would never pay a premium to have the same card multiple times unless they are different brands or got them all from opening packs.
Like Eco said...Its my favorite game and I enjoy collecting them.
your lucky its not like DOT hack and it had 4 parts. For some reason last year everytime i seen a HACK on sale i had to buy it.

YES!

Maybe the Disgaea guide will come back down to normal price again.

I love reprints. I hope this is true. Although, I own all the games already the OP mentioned, so I guess it does not matter to me.
I think Banshee should sell some of those copies of Disgaea to some CAGs for $20 shipped.
Lol...I think I will.

whoa, didn't realize double jump upped the guide price to $40. that's kinda screwed up.
My question is.... are anything of these games absolute must plays or just popular collectors items?
Even if you're not a huge SRPG fan, Disgaea is just incredible. I picked it up used a few weeks ago for $45 at EB and it was worth every penny even if it does get reprinted for $30 or even $50.

I'm not big on SRPGs, the last one I played was Shining Force 2 for Genesis, but I picked up Disgaea to see what all the hype is about and I can see why people were raving about it. It's actually brought me back into console rpgs (I haven't really played a serious console rpg since FFX because of mmorpgs).

Even if it's not reprinted for a lower price, I'd reccomend spending $50 on Disgaea easily (and I'm a cheapass of course).

I've got 2 sealed copies of Disgaea (one from Tsunami Bomb website for $30, another from local mom and pop store for $40), neither are going up on ebay :D

This game will be worth a lot more in the next generation just like how even non-sealed PSX RPGs that were even average fetch $20-30 on ebay (non GH)

this hasnt even been confirmed or not. I dont see why people are looking at selling off these games. Just like someone said REZ was going to get reprinted last thansgiving and that was coming from the place that made the game. Yea Riviera got reprinted but i think your just dreaming on the others

keep in mind that this isnt final fantasy (if u are hoping in upwards of $200), also even suikoden ii barely goes for $200 sealed, and I do not see disgaea becoming as sought after (and rare) as that, simply because people are thinking and hoping disgaea becomes rare, meaning that it likely will not. I always hear people talk about disgaea being rare in the future. The rare games will not be those that you expect, (look at all the early ps1 titles that are rare, who would have thought a sealed jumping flash could get good money). In my personal opinion, I think in 2 or 3 years a sealed copy of the bouncer will fetch good money. I haven't seen one for awhile, almost bought the only one ive seen on ebay for $30 but figured tying up $30 for a potential $100 payoff years from now wasnt worth it for me. Now if i could have ivested $300 for $1000 it would be a different story.

I personally see Disgaea becoming a game like Lunar the silver star, kinda hard to find and sought after. It will retain its value well, and sealed copies going for a little over $100.

There is also talk of a video game crash coming soon, in which case all our games will become worthless (including my 10 copies of MvC2 which I am saving for xmas time).

Heh I'm not relying on this to put food on my plate ;)

$100 is fine with me, hell even 70-80 is, I just know I won't be making a loss on either game

Good god...BOUNCER?

It seems to me, that only games with something unusual/unique and games that are good but not made in significant numbers might be collectable in the future. Mostly RPG and ex arcade fighting games, but Bouncer?

I think many would get a better return deposting $30 in the bank, then on one of the worst PS2 games made.

Now where is my copy of Oni?

the reason i think bouncer may be worth money (sealed of course) is because 1. it is made by squaresoft (anything squaresoft old and sealed generally gets $$$) 2. its a launch title (any launch title that never made it GH will probably be worth $50 down the line sealed) if u dont think this is true, ask yourself how often u see a ps1 launch title sealed on ebay? the answer is rarely if ever.

Video Games are the worst investments EVER just go to school and get an education then get a high paying job then you won't have to worry about bouncer being worth 30 more dollars than it was worth 3 years ago. I understand if your a collector and all but come on these games were made to be played not stored in a safety deposit box so you can pay for your childs college tution ten years down the road lol

I dont see any reason at all they would reprint DDS, Ateltier Iris, and especially Makai Kingdom. 2 of them just came out so stores are probably getting in second shipments if they ran out (Makai Kingdom is still in every gamestop I walk into anyhow) and I'm fairly certain DDS never went out of print (its always been available online and even target has like 4 copies out), they're likely just shipping more copies due to DDS2 coming out soon. Gamecrazy getting more shipments of these games is possible, but a mass reprint of these games at this point would be a waste.

I really don't think anyone considers them an investment at all, this is painfully obvious with even the rarest single game fetching a max of $300? It's just nice to make a few extra $ somewhere down the line when you need it.

all of those are very good RPG.

 "the Bouncer" and "$30" should not even be in the same sentence.

and Oni--- you mean "developed by Bungie AND Rockstar" Oni? talk about skeletons in the closet, heh.

Although I won't believe it until I see it, part of me is happy and the other one is pissed for buying Atelier Iris at full price and telling my boyfriend that DDS would keep its value (also bought for full price). Although it would be nice to get Disgaea and SMT Nocturne.

When ask if there would be reprints of Nocturne and DDS, this is the response I got from Atlus customer rep:

Yes, there should be more coming to stores in early September. We will
most
likely also have some for sale directly through us.

There you go, now we know that Nocture and DDS are getting reprints which will ship around early September.

EDIT* You know, I think they might've already released copies into the market... there's been a major decline in the game's prices on eBay. It's going for around $20-30 for opened copies, which is much less than the $45+ a month or two ago.

That's good to know! I was wondering what they were going to do with DDS, since you have to play the first one. Maybe they'll have a box-set edition with both games for newcomers.

Do you know if Disgaea is going to be reprinted for sure?

No, I didn't ask about Disgaea since it was Atlus... I'd think NIS would be the company to ask about that.

And I don't see any support email or number for NIS.

Hmmm...I wish someone would confirm the Disgaea reprint and how many if they are....

I have 5 copies and I dont want to get stuck with them if they drop in value alot

Yes NIS developed it but Atlus was the company that published Disgaea in America.

they might fall in the short term but they will go right back up in price. Disgaea already got Reprinted at least 1 time and its vaule is still high

What happened to having them for the sake of having extras of your favorite game?

haha.

I have 2 copies of Disgaea myself, because my old PS2 dirtied up my original.

Where do these $20-30 copies of Nocturne exist? I just checked completed listings on eBay and most used copies were ending around or even above $50 (with a decent number as high as $60). DDS seems to be going for a little cheaper but even that most seem to be ending above $40 for used copies.

Unless you were talking about the other games.

Opps, I guess I messed up... when I checked the completed listings, I must've put it on lowest prices first instead of highest prices price.

Perhaps just the news of this dropped the prices. If everyone thinks there is going to be a reprint and a drop in price, then no one is going to pay $45+ for it.
i put my sealed Disgaea up on eBay today. I only bought it a week ago at Microcenter. Hopefully ill make a few bucks from the deal.

:D No biggie....I was suprised when you said this cause I have been watching the prices on Nocturne for a while now and they have gone down but not quite that low for the most part. I remember joevan said he's seen some without the soundtrack going for less than $40. I don't think I have ever seen Nocturne without the ST.

I think you vastly overestimate the intelligence of the collective populace of ebay. This "news" hasn't hit any of the major game sites (and even then, I doubt it would do too much damage).

What would ruin the going prices, however, is a huge flood of listings because of this news. If the sellers play it smart then there wouldn't be a problem, but they won't. Everyone will rush to get rid of theirs at the same time, which will drastically lower prices

Which means I get a copy for under 30 if I can play it smart :).

The nocturne reprint might have been shiped allready I just came from TRU and I saw 5 copies with the green tag :)

well if it is part of there clearance sell why not? i thought i saw somewhere on this site that TRU was gonna restock this as needed

TRU keeps getting in green tag merch from wharehouses to move them. They're not buying clearance stuff, just shipping what they already own.
