Disgaea, Atelier Iris, Nocturne, DDS, Riviera, Makai Kingdom all getting reprints!
Disgae on the Atlus site is out of stock already?
try emailing them they probably have more copies. isnt this usually in stock at toys r us section of amazon for $50 new plus shipping?
I didn't see it posted anywhere else on the board, so:

For those hard up for a copy of it, the Atlus store is showing they have copies of SMT: Nocturne available. Yeah, it's $54, but the page says they're "factory-condition". My only dealing with them has been a few questions via e-mail, but it seems as though CAGers who have dealt with them came out with a very positive experience.

I've ordered several things from them snail mail, but everything made it here quickly, and very well packaged.

so were these official reprints or just an unloading of excess stock? me thinks the latter

I don't know about youse guys, but I'm gonna go put on a safety suit, b/c I fear we're going to go through 4 pages of slidecage's lamenting over purchasing 11 copies of Disgaea, all new and *none* with the almighty sticker, and if he should sell them, return them, how he should return them, if he should keep them, if they might go up in value, OH THE GODDAMN STICKER!, and every last bit of incomprehensible grammar that goes along with that.

YEH definitely will happen and that could do problems for the stayt of the thread for sure

Hmmmm... surprised no one has posted this - I find it hard to believe the Wilsonville, OR Fry's would be ahead of the SoCal ones.

Amyway, I was in today and they had about 15 copies of Disgaea, some on an endcap with new release games ("Hot New Games!"). All of them are missing the infamous white strip - so this is a reprint for sure.

I felt VERY bad shelling out the full $49.99 for a game - have NEVER done that. Fortunately, though, I had caught the news of this reprint early and dumped my "white strip" copy of Disgaea on Ebay for about $75 a few weeks back. So I guess I'm not really paying $49.99 for my copy (which I intend to play so I don't care a flying fuck about the white strip).

Earlier today I had just bid on one on Ebay because it looks like the price has dropped significantly there. I'm still the high bidder, but probably won't stay that way (if I do I get it for $25 shipped). I bet you can get one for $45 shipped or even less.

Seems a little odd though - didn't the info from early in this thread say they would ship Aug 31 (today) with stocking at places like Fry's taking a few days? Whatever - glad I decided to stop in today though!

Oh, and they also had several copies of the boxed DDS. No Nocturne though.

I picked up Makai Kingdom today, no white strip (whatever that means). Since joining CAG I picked up Atlier Iris, Stella Deus, Disgaea, La Pucille, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and DDS, Makai Kingdom and about 3 or 4 other games mentioned in the fourms. All of them brand new from EBGames and TRU. My question is should I play them, or keep them and in 15 years, dump them? I'm leaning toward playing them, since I am a gamer first and if I had any investing accumen, I'd have bought Oil Stocks when it was trading at $20. a barrel.

What would you do?
Stupid question, but is does the white strip supposed to mean?
The white strip is the seal at the top of the game underneath the plastic wrap that has the barcode, and the silver pull tab on it. It seems that new PS2 games do not have these on them any more (Madden '06 didn't have it either). What is significant is that this provides proof that the new copies of Disgaea (and I guess Nocturne as well) are reprints. If they were just old warehouse stock they would have the strips as before.

For some collectors, therefore, there is a way to tell the difference between the "original" and the reprint (and yes I know the "original" Disgaea was reprinted before). This might make a difference if you were selling it on ebay for example. Since I just wanted to play Disgaea, I knew I could get some good money for my copy I hadn't gotten around to playing yet and then pick up the reprint (with or without white strip I didn't care) and play that one. Worked perfectly :D. Though I have a feeling with the big drop on eBay that we might be able to get Disgaea for much less than $50 now. I will keep my Fry's copy unopened, and if I can find it cheaper return that one (have 30 days I think).

Edit:
Yikes - some poor SOB is trying to sell his Disgaea for $98 - a day late and a dollar short...

and not even a real photo... sad...

if it turns blue, you're pregnant. if not, you're in the clear.

i have no plans in buying any of them cause i already have an older one sealed

Looks like Gamefly got a shipment of copies too because Disgaea's status is no longer "long wait" and instead is now "available now"

Fry's in City of Industry has Disgaea in now. I called in and asked how many copies and the lady said, "plenty." It'll cost $49.99 according to the lady in the store. However for those who are more patient, I think Outpost will have it up Friday or this weekend for $34.99 + tax and shipping.

Wishful thinking.

I'm with you on this one.

That would be great. I can then return my Fry's copy. I know their shipping prices are horrid, but they have to be less than $15 :D.

LOL - right now when you search for Disgaea at Outpost, it says "Did you mean dziga?".
It's not on the site yet. I called in for my order. Came out to be about $45.68 with second day shipping.

Sweet - just ordered one on the phone with 2nd Day shipping- $42.20 (no sales tax in Oregon). As soon as it comes in, the one I bought at Fry's goes back (though I dread the complex return process at Fry's :D).

I wonder how many copies of Disgaea were printed initially and then 2nd print and now 3rd print. Atlus has always been known for it's low print run - probably the biggest reason why so many people look out for their games, so it would be smart if they just continue doing this. Collectors will see them at the stores, think it's a great deal, buy it for MSRP even after a year the game's been released.

Edit: and then how Atlus reps were denying that there was not a reprint in the beginning. Something for the conspiracy theorist out there to think about .

Not sure, but when I called Outpost, they had 24 in stock and they said they were getting more soon.

I checked the Atlus store and Disgaea is also now in stock, but for $54.00!
