Oh man, check this out:
It was January 23rd of 2001. My wife was six months pregnant at the time, and she and I were starting to stay home more often as her belly grew in size. Bedtime began to be a challenge, as Rachel (my significant other), was having trouble sleeping on our brand new queen-sized bed. The living room couch became her new sleeping location, as she was somehow able to get comfortable by sleeping on her side toward the cushions. I made a bed out of comforters between the couch and the loveseat, with the armoire at my feet. It was pretty much laid out like an equilateral triangle, with points A, B, & C as the armoire, couch, and loveseat, respectively. Not surprisingly, my comforter bed was situated in the center of all this. I seem to remember Rach falling asleep around 11 pm, but I stayed awake playing FF8. The game was awesome, and I had decided to pick up FF7 the upcoming day after work (I was supposed to go to my linear algebra and digital logic classes after work, but I was flunking them anyway). I stayed up until about 1:45 am, and decided to finally hit the sack. For some odd reason, I fell asleep on the ground next to the loveseat, which was a good 5-6 feet from the couch my wife was on. A little while after conking out, I suddenly woke up very tense and alert. I took a quick glance at the wife, and she looked okay as she slept facing the couch cushions For a split second I layed there wondering what the f*** was going on, and then it happened. Out of nowhere, I got this overwhelming feeling of complete dread. I quickly turned around toward the rest of the house (the kitchen, bathroom, foyer -- opposite the side Rachel was), but as soon as I turned, I got the feeling something was coming toward me FAST. In a split second, I was engulfed by what I can only call a "malevolent force." Sounds like a really dramatic/hokey name for it, I know; however, it truly felt as though the darkness itself had jumped on top of me and was right in my face. I was paralyzed with fear, and I couldn't move my limbs. Whatever was on me was pressing down HARD. This loud, buzzing sound shrieked through my ears, and all I could see were pulsating colors. It was kind of like when you look at the sun for too long, the weird pattern of color you see, but at the same time I couldn't see a thing. The pulsating sounds got louder and faster, causing me to really freak out. The worst part of it was the friggin vibe this thing was pounding into me. I felt as though it was literally trying to kill my ass, right there in front of my wife and unborn son. Although I couldn't move my limbs or get up at all, I was able to look toward Rachel. I could see her sleeping there on the couch, with her face toward the rear cushions and completely oblivious to what was happening to me. I tried to call out to her, but my mouth could neither move nor make any sound. It was as though the thing would only let me move enough to look at Rachel in despair, and nothing else. I'm telling you, truly friggin evil. After what seemed like an eternity, this attack finally subsided. I was left just laying there terrified, trying to contemplate what just happened. Was it a nightmare? I looked at Rachel. She was laying in the exact same spot/position as when I looked at her during the encounter!!! It wasn't a damned dream. I moved over to my wife and checked her out to make sure she was okay. She was sound asleep, and I was just glad the thing had messed with me instead of her and my little boy. the time on the clock was 3:17 am. I don't think I fell asleep for another couple of hours, as I was really freaked out. When I woke up the next morning, it was the first thing I thought about. I told Rachel nothing of the previous night. Luckily, she and I left for the work at the same time so neither one of us was in the house alone. For the rest of the day, it was all I could think about. After work, I picked up a MINT copy of FF7 from EBGames for like twelve bucks. Turns out, an employee there who was a fanatic about keeping his games in mint shape had traded his in earlier that day. It helped me a lot that day, and took my mind away for a while. Unfortunately, I would have to get home eventually. I got there around 6 in the evening, about a half hour before my spouse. I went up the driveway, and unlocked the door. I cautiously walked in and opened every door and turned on all of the lights. I ran out to the porch and waited patiently for Rachel to get home, reading the FF7 manual the whole time. When she got home, she looked at me like I was crazy for opening the doors, etc. I spilled my beans about what happened, and my wife hugged me and said how sorry she was. Luckily, she wasn't scared at all, and she walked right into the house and relaxed after a hard day's work. Man, I felt weak, being scared of something I couldn't even punch. It took me a few days to get remotely comfortable in the house again; however, as soon as both my layoff and wife's due date got close, the memories of the encounter got lost in the madness of the life altering events. I moved out of that house the following December, and I'll never step foot in the house again. I haven't had anything else happen to me since then, though I still get kinda freaked out when I'm in any house alone. Sorry for the long details, but when I think of it I make sure that I remember every thing that happened so that I don't ever forget what happened and become complacent about stuff like this. So to some of the posters who said it would be cool to have a ghost experience be warned: some ghost might make you its bitch.
