Do you guys favor one Genre? I've noticed a shit ton of FPS and Racing games are being released. I can't really get into them myself. Even though I don't really like them I thought the Burnout series was good enough to warrant me playing a racing game. Maybe a fan of racing games could explain the fascination with the genre to me. As for FPS my least favorite genre....I always try to see what the draw is and I'm almost always unimpressed. After all is said and done though I play both of these along with Sports, Fighting, Action, Platformer, Adventure, RPG's and whatever else is out there.

I guess I just feel if the game is good enough it doesn't really matter what genre it falls into. Do you guys stick with one genre or play almost anything?

I favor RPGs, Action Adventure, 2D and 3d platforming, fighting, Strategy/Tactial RPGs, Puzzle, etc. above FPS, Sports, etc.

But my recent purchases suggest I favor old RPGs.

Action Adventure/3D platformer games are probably my favorite. Stuff like R+C, J+D, Banjo-Kazooie. The Splinter Cell games are also some of my favorites although they are more of a thinking man's action adventure game or even a cross between a puzzle game and an action game. I really enjoy a game of this type that is well paced and mixes up the action with different modes. Being able to accomplish a given task in different ways is a major plus for me - SC is a master of this IMO. It's a bonus if the game lets you accomplish tasks in a somewhat non-linear order - I find this to be pretty rare as even GTA: SA forces you to complete your core jobs in a pretty much set order.

Also like RPGs, although sometimes I avoid starting into one as they can take so long to complete.

But I like to play games from pretty much any genre as long as they are enjoyable. The one genre I'm not a really big fan of are realistic racers (like Gran Turismo or Forza - though I haven't played Forza) I prefer arcade style racers. But even then I'd certainly give Forza a try if I find it for cheap someday since it has reviewed so well.

Probably fighters and racing games ... basically anything I can play for 20 minutes or so and then come back to later. I don't have the attention span for much else unless it's just ridiculously good.

i play every genre, but the ones i tend to stick to are Fighting, Interactive Art Based (ie. Rez, Graffiti Kingdom, etc.), and Action... I am no good and barely like sports games, but I'll give any game a go and will find some sort of way to enjoy it.

Well I'm pretty sure RPGs (action and turn bases) will always be my fav. genre but I love games of all genres (Fighting, FPS, Action, Racing, Sports, Platform, etc.) My favorite games are the one that are the most open ended and non linear like Morrowind.

I'm a fan of shooters (first person & third person) over any other genre. Basically, though, I like almost every genre other than puzzle.

The think I don't like about platformers is that once you beat them once they seem to lose their appeal... (except for the really great ones)

i like rpgs, third person shooters, turn based rpgs, platformers, almost any 2D fighter, eh...some fps, and customization racers like srs, and nfsu. But like almost everyone is saying, id play almost any game to give it a chance...it seems like now im starting to actually play some sports games, even though in some of them i have no idea what the hell im doing. ;)

I tend to fluctuate over time. My most recent favorites have been Puzzle and Racing, but I like pretty much every genre except RTS.

Well, I'm best at FPS's, but I don't think I favor them. I probably favor old school adventure games and action-adventure games (Zelda, etc.).

fps, racing, and 2d fighters here...

i'll play any genre if the game seems like it would appeal to me...most rpgs dont appeal to me, but some strat rpgs do :)
