Does your wife/girlfriend earn more than you?

Okay, so I recently observed an interesting trend:

Mrs. Cheapy is a lawyer and (presumably) earns more than Cheapy.
Mrs. Wombat is an architect and earns more than Wombat.
Mrs. Shipwreck is a veterinarian and earns more than Shipwreck.
Mrs. Tybee is an engineer and earns more than Tybee.

So now I'm wondering...Is this a common thing for CAGs?

Well I'm single but wouldn't that be the eventual goal to have your wife bring home the bacon? The new generation of house husbandry has emerged! Thanks CAG! Shout out to K-Fed.

I would be thrilled to become a trophy husband. Then I could sit on my porch all day and yell at kids who get to close to my lawn.... my precious, precious lawn.

I wish my girlfriend made more money than me. I tired of wasting my money on her and having her complain when I buy video games (I explain how its a deal and she stfu).

Yep. I'm on a fellowship this year, which means that, if I lived on my own, I'd be several thousand dollars below the poverty threshold.

With any luck, by next year, I'll be busting my ass in a tenure track position and earning a real income.

Yep. She went straight from school to consulting. I'm taking the long road through med school, so she'll be the major breadwinner for awhile. If we make it through my residency, then she can relax. It's not too lopsided now, though. I make about $35k and she makes $50k. She's still paying off $20k in loans, too, so at least this year I get to ball it a little bit more than she does ;)

She used to (by just a tiny bit), but now that I have more jobs than I know what to do with, I win  .

Mrs. Warner= 42k
Mr. Warner (1)= 36k
Mr. Warner (2)= 21k
Mr. Warner (miscellaneous)= 5-10k

yeah, but whatever, we pretty much share money at this point. besides, she only makes a dollar more than me an hour... only 2k more a year, good she can buy me dinner.
Hm... all this has convinced me of is that the main CAG honchos are deadbeats.
And based on the poll results many CAG members are as well ;).

This is a website for people who are too cheap to buy games at full price so I wouldn't be surprised to see a higher proportion of guys mooching off their significant others.

But I'm sure your students loans will be just a little bit more though. Heck, I'm on a 30-year payment plan for my med school loans.

At the moment, neither the GF nor I have a job. That will change next term, but I'm taking out more in student loans right now, so that's like income right?

She used to, but now I make $15K more than her. I can actually feel that my dick is now bigger than it once was. Dunno if thats related.

Suggesting that the woman making more is somehow "mooching" is a little disingenous and a lot sexist. I work full time. I actually work longer hours than my wife does. But because she's an engineer and I'm an editor, she makes $20k-$30k more than me. Does that make me a mooch? I don't think so.

Yes, Yes it does.

Somewhere in this post I lie.

Does not make you a mooch at all. Just makes you less money than her:lol:

Respect to all the hard workers out there.

P.S. Never heard of a man complain about Sexism! Right on bro!! lol

What do you do, exactly?

Hitman
Pimp
Handyman?

She will in May once she gets her Masters.

She will times a lot when she gets her PHD a few years after.

Then it will be her turn to buy the Xboxes and HDTV's.

Editor for what?

I make about 20k more than my gf + usually more in bonuses as a structural engineer. I hope she does surpass me, so I can stay home all day and play video games.

me (misc) = odd jobs doing anything you can imagine (except sex for pay... I do that stuff for free  )

Your situation reminds me of the skit from "In Living Color". "Him got 3 jobs, mon!"
Editor for what?
I'm managing editor for a trade magazine covering the solid waste and recycling industry.

But I'm winning NOW! HAHAHAHA!

Seriously, though, I'll probably always consider myself to be winning. So much of her money goes into sinkholes like shoes and dresses that she'll only ever wear once that I can almost consider those to be deductions from her income. Taking that into account, she'll NEVER get ahead of me :applause:

Heh. So sez you.

By the time you'll have paid off her student loans, you'll be clamoring for Cabernet Sauvignon and Coltrane records. (meaning that you'll be old and feeble, and not effete upper-class types who are too good for games).

Mrs. englishsandwich makes more than I. Only recently though, as I quit my 75k /year job to go back to school (if that doesn't test a marriage!) and work two part time jobs  . But I will graduate in the spring and she will quit and go back to school. Then I will be back! HAHA

I'm a graduate student, so yes, if I want to live my wife has to make more money than me. But that raises the curious question about what we're going to do when we have a kid in February. Stay tuned, folks! Mr. and Mrs. munch just might be on the streets!
