Free shiny versions of the three Pokemon (also with special moves) will be available in the new year at GameStop. Raikou from Jan 3-9, Entei from Jan 17-23, and Suicune from Jan 31-Feb 6. In addition, Toys R Us will be distributing Ash's Pikachu from Jan 30-Feb 13. Then, GameStop will again be offering another download (non-shiny Celebi) from Feb 21-March 6.

Celebi can also be had at the Pokemon Mall Tour, and the Legendary Beasts are currently being redistributed over NWFC.

Via Nintendo WiFi connection (yay for not having to go to a store), the first DLC for Pokemon Black & White will be made available in the form of the new psychic & fire type Pokemon, Victini. You will not be able to download Victini directly. It will be an item called a "Liberty Pass" that you'll be able to download via Nintendo WiFi connection, and this item will eventually trigger the unlocking of Victini in the game. The Liberty Pass will be available for download from March 6th-April 10th.

Also, something to note for those who plan on transfering:
There are two methods to migrate Pokemon from Diamond, Peal, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver to Black and White: The PokeTransfer (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/pokeshifter.shtml) and the Transfer Machine (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/transfermachine.shtml). The PokeTransfer is use to migrate all of your regular Pokemon to Black and White and is accessible only after completing the game. The Transfer Machine is used for migrating the Event Pokemon Raikou, Entei, Suicune, and Celebi and is available only after telling a special phrase to a character in Castelia City.

If you transfer the Event Rikou, Entei, Suicune, or Celebi through the PokeTransfer they will NOT unlock the Zorua and Zoroark Events.

so bobby it basically is a special viewing event?? or do you get something.
It's a viewable/playable thing, that's it, but it's still cool.

As for BB, I'm pretty sure you can't use RZ points toward the pre-order for the deal/paying for it (at least I thought I read that in the fine print). I still say the K-mart deal is pretty good if you have SYWR points to use, like I do. You save a total of $17.50 between the 2 games and you could always get the last copy from BB for the $10 RZ.

I liked the Rango/PetSmart joke, by the way, and the K-mart deal is Buy One Get One Half Off (thanks to God for creating all the circumstances/people that led up to this deal).

Went into GS yesterday, got Celebi for both HeartGold and Diamond. Sadly, I've been too preoccupied with Fire Emblem and Plants vs Zombies and haven't played them for more than a few minutes in the last 2-3 weeks.

Funny enough, this was the first time in all of these giveaways that I made it out of the store without spending money. I almost bit on a pretty decent condition copy of Tales of the Abyss for the PS2 for $20, but I think I'll wait on it.
the K-mart deal is Buy One Get One Half Off (thanks to us posters in the official topic).
Don't even think about trying to take credit for that deal. Josh has stated that it was his backup plan all along. If you want to say it was because of the posters in the KmartGamer thread, thank the person that suggested it in the first place for getting Josh to go through with that deal.
Get a free cat that looks like pikachu. Adoption fees not included.

"Kmartgamer is pleased to announce that from March 6th through the 12th, with every in-store purchase of Pokemon Black you can receive 50% off Pokemon White. Both are regularly priced $34.99."

... Jesus. Gen VI Pokemon anyone?

@ Altanis

1) That was lighthearted comment that I didn't even remotely solely take credit for.

2) Josh said it was based on user feedback, and that's how I took it @ the time of the post, I wasn't aware of the older HG/SS deal.

3) Josh only recently flat-out said that's what he always had planned (closer to late Thursday/early Friday), and if you want, you can compare the times of the posts, I posted way beforehand. I honestly forgot to make a correction, which I don't even think is a big deal, paying posters are at least somewhat indirectly responsible.

Picked up Celebi at GS, and Suicune over wifi for all 4 of my games. And now, KMart has officially claimed my money for the Black/White combo. Thanks for the heads up on that!

You can thank Josh. :p

Crap!

Thought I was done with these downloads until B+W.
Was in the closest city with a Gamestop...drove right past. Coudl've grabbed Celebi if I would've remembered.

So now, I'm gonna have to find a day to make it back down there. Ugh.

I haven't played pokemon since sapphire and I'm finally getting back into with white. Now I don't have ss or hg so if I go to gamestop the day the game is released will I be able to download celebi in white or am I screwed?

Celebi can only be downloaded on to 4th generation games, such as HeartGold, Diamond, etc. In other words, you'd be screwed.
Still, B + W are launching @ 35, and they're main series games... so I'm not waiting for a price drop. :p (Especially with the 3DS semi-upgrade.)
What is the 3DS semi upgrade?

If you are still monitoring this, you should edit the OP to include the following:

There are two methods to migrate Pokemon from Diamond, Peal, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver to Black and White: The PokeTransfer (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/pokeshifter.shtml) and the Transfer Machine (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/transfermachine.shtml). If you transfer the Event Rikou, Entei, Suicune, or Celebi through the PokeTransfer they will NOT unlock the Zorua and Zoroark Events.

Feel free to edit this however you see fit, assuming you see this at all.

Interesting. So sounds liek the Zorua/Zoroark events should be done before transferring?

to those lusting over k-mart's deal, if you ever plan to spend $20 in the future on amazon, their deal is definitely better...
k-mart - $52.49 + tax
amazon - $49.98 (factoring future $20 coupons)

updated, thanks!

Hmm, say I purchase Pokemon White on Amazon with this bonus and hold it until I get my 3DS on March 27th, will I still be able to download it and catch it?

Kmart is $52.49 + tax, and Amazon is $69.98 and you get $20 in credit.

It's apples and oranges. Amazon isn't $50, it's $70 and you get $20 in credit to use on their stuff. Kmart is a straight up ~$56. Plus, a lot of people here have Kmart points that drops the price even more.

I see Amazon credit as cash, since I shop at Amazon a LOT, but I think it's just going to depend on personal preference of saving now or savings later.

For Celebi your SOL
For Victini it should be good till April 10th.
updated, thanks!
You're welcome.

I was perusing serebii, which is something I actually only rarely do, and noticed it. So I came right here and posted it, since I figured if I didn't then this thread would be filled with people using the wrong transfer method and being very upset. Now the only problem I can see people having is figuring out which one is which. PokeTransfer and Transfer Machine. I liked it better when it was called the PokeShifter (as the link still identifies it) but I guess someone at Nintendo thought it would be a great idea to just confuse the hell out of everybody even more. Not only are there two distinct transfer methods, but they sound almost the same!

I would've posted the phrase too, but I couldn't translate the Japanese. All I understood was the first word, "minna". It of course has multiple ways to translate it into some form of "everyone", but if it's just like the past phase, it likely translates into "Let's".

I know, no help at all there. Plus, I'm sure someone on the internet already knows the phrase.

P.S.: Ahh! I just noticed in your quoting me that I put "use" instead of "used" in one sentence and now it looks like I don't know proper grammer. :whistle2:(

PokeShifter and Transfer Machine are the literal translations from the Japanese versions. In the English localizations, the PokeShifter became Poke Transfer and the Transfer Machine became the Relocator.

Hmm.

I didn't know about the name change to Relocator. Much easier on the brain. The links to serebii I posted had the name change to Poke Transfer, but not the name change to Relocator. Considering how soon the games are releasing I would've thought the info there would've been pretty much final by now. But then again, I guess this would be the part that falls into "pretty much".

Phrase: Everyone Happy Simple Connection

Not as nice a phrase as before, in my opinion.

I have been trying to understand the PokeTransfer, but for the life of me, I don't get it.

My biggest confusion: is it local DS connection only, or could I do the transfer with someone halfway across the country?

Local.

DS to DS. It does not connect to the internet.

One of you guys mentioned you had just downloaded Suicine from the WFC, and the op says:

"Celebi can also be had at the Pokemon Mall Tour, and the Legendary Beasts are currently being redistributed over NWFC."

But I just tried mystery gift over NWFC in HeartGold, and it said there were no gifts available. Are they still in fact distributing the beasts over NWFC?

That just ended I believe, they were distributing the beasts over NWFC for all through January and Feburary
I'm assuming Celebi will be distributed via WFC like the dogs were.
It's not. Or at least there are no plans to atm.

The only reason we're able to obtain the legendary beasts over WFC is because that was its distribution method in Europe and we could access that State-side.

Right now, Celebi isn't being distributed in the States over WFC. Just the Mall Tour and Gamestop. And in Europe, it's not over WFC either, just through store front locations like Toys-R-Us and Gamestop.

Available from: February 1st 2011 to March 4th 2011
Available at: GAME - Spain & Portugal (01/02 - 03/03)
Spaceworld - Norway (14/02 - 04/03)
Gamestop & Toys 'R' Us - Denmark (14/02 - 04/03)
Black & White Tour - Germany (14/02 - 27/02)
Shareable?: No
Unless you plan on trading with other people for theirs (or a cloned one >_>), don't miss the Celebi at Gamestop.
