Chris Priestly confirmed on Bioware's official forums that this IS the CE. There's no other CE/LE coming. Pre order before Jan 11th or spend $20 for the DLC. Also, sign up for the newsletter this month for a staff code via e-mail.

So it seem like you can only get this from Gamestop or EA Store. For some reason Amazon is not on the Bioware site anymore.

I wouldn't take his word for it. I believe with the first Dragon Age, someone from Bioware claimed the same thing and a month or two before release, the CE popped up. The publisher calls the shots on stuff like that, not the developer.

Yeah, but they're in communication and have to have the content/items prepared months in advance to ensure it can be produced. Besides, if the CE comes up, just switch your pre-order.

From what i've read if you don't preorder this you wont get it and their wont be a collectors edition other then this...

Hey, thanks for the heads-up on the newsletter/staff promo. Didn't know about that.

I will get it if amazon gives a $20 gaming credit with it... otherwise, probably will wait for GOTY / Ultimate edition. And where the hell is the Blood Dragon Armor? Bring it back!
Amazon just sent an email saying my preorder was upgraded To the signature edition
Same. If this "signature edition" ends up being the normal version like BFBC2 or Dantes Inferno I'm going to be pissed. No way in hell I'm paying MSRP for a regular game.

that's exactly what it sounds like to me.

with a sleeve and some DLC. Why are you expecting otherwise?

Good question. This is clearly an attempt to get people to pre-order. What about this would make anyone think that it's anything but a slightly upgraded regular edition of the game?

yeah i call shenanigans. i refuse to preorder this. will wait for price drop instead. i agree with pretty much everyone's gripes here.

I don't undertand what there is to gripe about though. The description is pretty clear and no one is forcing anyone to buy at MSRP. If you fall for their marketing, whose fault is that?

Plus, some people actually want the game at launch. :D

From the link:

"Limited Time Offer – get $20 of bonus content at NO ADDITIONAL COST! Pre-order Dragon Age II before January 11, 2011 and receive an automatic upgrade to the BioWare Signature Edition–a special, collector's edition version of the game that contains loads of additional content, exclusives, and other perks. This special edition version of Dragon Age II is only available before January 11, so pre-order now!"

Also from Biowares FAQ:

  1. How long will the BioWare Signature Edition be available?

The BioWare Signature Edition will be available until January 11th, 2011. After that date, you can no longer order the BioWare Signature Edition of Dragon Age II.
  2. How do I ensure I get the BioWare Signature Edition?

Pre-order Dragon Age II at one of the participating retailers listed above before January 11th, 2011 and you will be automatically upgraded to the BioWare Signature Edition.
  3. Will I be able to get the BioWare Signature Edition after January 12th, 2011?

No. The only way you can get the BioWare Signature Edition is by pre-ordering Dragon Age II on or before January 11, 2011. After that, the BioWare Signature Edition will no longer be available.
So this shouldnt be like BFBC2 or Dantes Inferno at all. It had better actually be limited and stopped on that date.

This. Despite the nice "bonuses", not biting until I see a deal in the form of actual (some might argue "virtual"...) currency.

you're getting extra DLC with a fancy cover/sleeve for buying first run/"pre-order" sounds to me like it's about the same.

It's not like you're getting a CE. Why are you expecting something super from this?

I'm not. I know exactly what you get with it. The difference is it's not first run it's a specific cut off date well before the game ever releases. Dantes Inferno/BFBC2/any other game that gives those BS "limited" editions are everywhere because they make christ knows how many first run copies. If this actually cuts off though a couple months before it ever releases, it could be pretty hard to come by.

And guess what that means...

The only thing that might end up being rare is the physical copy of the game with the black cover instead of the white. I'll bet a million dollars that the DLC included in the Signature Edition will also be available for purchase separately, either at launch or shortly after.

Right. Hopefully shortly after and not at launch. The idea is to buy 3 and sell 2, keeping one at a cheap price.

Yeah, I really don't see the issue. It's the regular edition. They are telling you that. Pre-order the standard edition, and you get this. I was already buying this day one, so all the better for me.

But NONE of the DLC for preordering Origins from Gamestop or the EA Store was ever sold seperately. Neither was the content in the CE (minus the full soundtrack vs. the 1/2 soundtrack that was included in the CE.) The only thing sold seperately was Shale and that was to encourage new sales vs. used ones. Who actually paid $15 for him?

I think people care less about armor/item DLC than missions/maps/expansion DLC. But you're right about none of the armor/weapons dlc being in the "Ultimate Edition."

The Ultimate Edition is a steal.

Well, no it isn't. It's the Signature Edition. After January 11th anyone that orders will get the standard edition. Or so it says. All I'm saying is that had better be true or I'd be pissed. Not because I give a damn what it includes, but because of my nefarious plan.

The Warden's Keep DLC was also included with the CE and then sold separately, right? I feel like the Signature Edition DLC is roughly analogous to Stone Prisoner + Warden's Keep.
Im going to wait for the Ultimate Edition with all the DLC, especially since DA1 is still in my backlog.
Im in the same boat, I have played about 10 hrs and have the big expansion (still in the wrapper) and its still in my backlog behind some other games. I'll wait for the Ultimate edition as well.

Warden's Keep was only included with the PC Digital Deluxe Edition of the game to make up for the fact that it did not have the physical items (bonus disk, steeltin, cloth map) the other CE sku's had.

i would rather have physical things like the batarang in batman arkham asylum then free dlc if im gonna pay extra for a collectors edition

Perhaps the batarang is a bad example since it was quite cheaply manufactured... :bomb:

A BioWare [dev? PR guy? not exactly sure what Chris Priestly is] said on their forums that this is it as far as a collector's edition. No tin cases or Morrigan plushies for us this time. :p

Wow, really? No collector's edition? Did they forget how desired the Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition was and still is?

That's what he said. Whether things will change over the next five months, who knows. Maybe they feel like purely digital collector's editions are the future.
