Duke Nukem Forever - New DLC Campaign Expansion: The Doctor (Proton) Who Cloned Me
Nah, it's not your taste it's everybody going into the game with preconceived hate and unfair expectations due to the long development cycle.
I like to call it "Chinese Democracy Syndrome".

Duke Nukem Forever is now $24.99 on Steam for a limited time (sale prices vary by country). Part of the Steam Summer Sale 7/9 to 7/10.
this was my fave pc game....classic 3D game.....I think this is the first 3D PC Game, isn't it?
No. It's not. The first 3D PC game was released in 1982.

I love Gearbox, we've asked and they've listened. Now they deliver.

:applause: It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum and I'm all out of gum.

2K says they will definitely continue to support Duke in the future and Gearbox will no doubt make their own Duke Nukem games. Borderlands is a very very excellent game so I have faith that they will do good.

And some DNF multi/singleplayer DLC on its way in the near future. We can expect something along the lines of a Plutonium Pak expansion.

Leaked achievement lists for the single player DLC seems to suggest the return of Dr. Proton. I still think the release of such DLC is a ways off, maybe not as early until next summer-ish.
playing it now. i can't believe how many ppl complained about the graphics.
Yeah, they are a little behind the times but not awful at all...on PC at least.

Yeah, I would complain about visuals if I played it on the 360. Overall graphics and those frame rates look terrible sometimes. Looks pretty good (not the best but y'know) on the PC even now and considering this game belongs in the 2007-09 at the latest.

A brand new DLC campaign is on it's way next tuesday! Dr. Proton returns and Duke takes the fight to Area 51. Also Terminators like those spotted in the E3 2001 trailer seem to have made their way to this DLC.

"Triptych designed and produced the new single-player content. Portions of it were inspired by / based on some ideas that 3D Realms had in the past, but nothing was held back or cut from the main game to be used later. The entirety of The Doctor Who Cloned Me was created from scratch after work on Duke Nukem Forever was complete."

I'm pretty sure regardless, there was some stuff that was cut out to later be used in downloadable content. Of course plenty of new stuff was added as well and the old was polished to blend in with the new. All in all this campaign sounds pretty friggin' awesome and I can't wait to kick some more alien ass and go face to face with Dr. Proton.

Except those that have been following it since 1997 (which sadly I'm one of them) Proton was ALWAYS suppose to be in DNF, it was suppose to be his heralded return to the brand with one last hurrah fight against Duke. Somewhere in the sands of time at 3D Realms they changed the direction and Proton and the more adventuresome nature of the game went away and we got the linear "adventure" that was released.

I hope they can do well with this, as I'm looking forward to seeing more of the original concept of DNF make its way back into the game (albeit I'd have preferred it been in their to begin with, but releasing it to begin with was a HUGE miracle in itself) Let's hope Gearbox has been able to put more resources to helping them make the game and not just on polishing and bug testing like they did last time.

Also happy to see they added more guns, still would like access to all of them whenever I want though...

True dat, I've been a 3DR site and forum lurker around those days and would waste time there to read about discussions on DNF and hope that some sort of new information was revealed. I didn't know this build was to feature Dr. Proton as I didn't read the leaked documents about the game so I assumed he was scrapped sometime before this version went into development.

Expect more single player DLC packs as what we got is probably 50% of the game and this sounding like a smaller story selling for 10 bucks, it'll be a small percentage of content that was removed from the game. I reckon there will be about (estimating) 4 DLC campaign packs altogether that make up the other 50% of Duke Nukem Forever. Either we could have waited a long time to get the entire epic or they will cut content out to later sell as DLC. We get DNF sooner, eventually get the rest of the game as it is completed, and all involved parties make more profit in theory.

I can't say for sure, with the dead silence from the 2001 trailer to the what was it 2009-2010 teaser (which still looked waaay more advanced technology wise than what DNF retail showed) who knows what was fully removed. The old west town got axed (along with the prospector and donkey ride, what was left in DNF was a hollow shell of a town) the airboat section, the pink cadillac, the motorcycle, sniper rifle attachment to the machine gun, terminator (which is now included in the new DLC), riot shield, cool infected human's, launching the missle, controlling the crane, you know what I'm going to stop now cause it's making me sad again with how much WAS originally in then cut out of the final game.

Probably, I'd rather see a directors cut with everything put together as a open world type environment where Duke could transverse Las Vegas on his own instead of being limited to the areas they allowed him to go. But that's a pipe dream, sadly. They did what they had to do to finish and ship the game, I don't slight them that, I'm just sad we didn't get the DNF game that should been instead. ;)
