E3 2009 - MS Press Briefing - What Did You Think?

Very good presentation. I know that Facebook and Twitter stuff will get laughed at, but it is pretty cool actually, it looks like they did a good job with it. The motion control stuff...I'll believe it when I see it, but that demo they showed makes me think that maybe someone has finally done motion control right. I'm more interested in the voice recgonition/scanning aspects.

I do like the layout of their presentation - they got all the games out of the way immediately and didn't waste time with sales figures. I sort of figured it would taper off into boredom from there but between the MGS announcement, FB/Last.fm/Twitter integration, Media watching with a XBL Party, and the Nepal thing not looking awful...well, this may have actually been my favorite E3 showing of theirs since the console launched.

MS always is in the unenviable position of going first, but they still seem to hold up well every year compared to what the other two companies do. I doubt this year will be any different, although Sony is definitely due for a good showing. I doubt Nintendo cares that much since they've already run away with it.

But yeah, the 360 is turning into this crazy Skynet device that does too much and will kill all of us.

I was underimpression that the Franchise is coming, meaning new games will be release on the 360 as well, but the backlog will stay.

I can't believe that AI is as advanced as he says, but lol @ the possibilities if Molyneux really did/can pull that off. Quite a magician of hype he is.

I agree Kane about some of the stuff the gamer crowd will poo-poo. The social networking stuff is huge.

MS had it all today. I dunno what else to say.

Where was the Mass Effect 2 footage? Unless I missed it, I really wanted to see more of ME2.

sigh my wallet is going to cry this holiday, and early next year. Add Metal Gear Rising, Left 4 Dead 2, Forza 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Crackdown 2 to my list of games I want to buy.

Anyone notice that the new Metal Gear only shows Raiden's face, but what about BIG BOSS?? The countdown earlier last week flashed both Raiden and Big Bosses faces. Could PS3 be getting the Metal Gear game with Big Boss, and 360 getting Raiden?

But Hideo Kojima said The ENTIRE Metal Gear franchise is coming to Xbox 360 and Microsoft

that means Metal Gear Solid 5 etc

New Metal Gear, Left 4 Dead 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Natal. Oh yeah, awesome press conference. I missed all the Rock Band stuff (I don't really care though).

You're clueless. Its just Rising and its not even exclusive, they would have been screaming the word exclusive over and over if it was like every other exclusive they showed.

I find it funny that MGS4 remains a PS3 exclusive.

Overall i thought the conference was pretty bad gaming wise, i didnt see anything that wow'd me in the slightest. Most of the stuff was for 2010 anyway, alan wake, halo reach, and not even a date for the motion camera.

I have 0 interest in any of the facebook/twitter crap. Unless Ravi Drums is back for the nintendo conference, i think its safe to assume MS has the worst conference this E3 hands down.

I think he meant 'all Metal Gear games going forward'. Some people think it means 1 through 4.

Wow that E3 showing from Microsoft was amazing. Highlights for me was Alan Wake, Modern Warfare 2, Metal Gear Solid Rising, and Project Natal.
 
What was with the Rock Band beetles controlling the show at the beginning? I was starting to think the entire conference was going to be about the Beetles. Weird.

Splinter cell looked killer. Can't wait to see AC2 and MASS EFFECT 2 and Ubi's and EA's conferences! But now, it's time for me to head to LA and get all my passes!

I'm shocked you weren't impressed. Let me guess, you'll blow your load over Sony's show tomorrow no matter the quality. Yeah, that's right. I'm going out on a limb.

If you weren't at least mildly impressed by some of that, you're in denial. That's usually the rule though, the more excessively negative someone is, the more pissed off they are that it isn't on their console of choice.
