Todays First Flash Deal (of 3) is Dead Space 2 with 3000 likes. Need to hit it by 11:30AM. No word on discount %, free shipping inclusion, or platforms. Likely to follow Mass Effect 2 which was 50% off +Free Shipping on all available platforms.

**I will probably be too busy at work to update this so just look for the one offs today.**

FAQ (in progress):

Q: What is EA Flash Deals?
A: Special discounts on video games sold through EA's online store typically ranging from 50%-60%. Often they include free shipping but do include tax (at least in my area). These deals are offered exclusively through the EA Flash Deals Facebook page.

Q: How can I help make the deal go live faster?
A: "Like" the required post on their Facebook page and tell your friends about it. Typically they require 500-1,000 likes. The Mass Effect deal required 1,500 and is the highest to date.

Q: What if I don't have/use Facebook?
A: You can still look at the page and see the "likes" and even see the deal when it goes live. It is recommended that you get a Facebook page so you can help get the "likes" up faster to ensure that the deals go live.

As an alternative you can follow EA Flash Deals on twitter (@EAFlashDeals) and they will post the deals when they go live as well. You can have their tweets sent to your phone so you will be immediately notified when a deal goes live.

Q: Where do I go to buy these games?
A: EA's online store.

Q: When do the deals go live?
A: Almost immediately upon reaching the number of "likes" required a deal will go live.

Q: How long is the deal good for?
A: Early posts by EA state the deals are good for 50-1,000 units. Although that number has probably been increased but there is no confirmation. Since there are many people clamoring for these deals they often are completely claimed within 20 minutes. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that if you want a deal you stalk their page until it goes live.

Q: Do these deals stack with coupons?
A: The deals stack with coupons. I have personally used a $20 coupon on NBA Jam and as a result it was completely free shipped during a past deal. Other coupons may work. It's always worth a try but YMMV.

Q: Do the unlock codes post faster on Facebook or Twitter?
A: In my experience Facebook does get the codes faster but it's only a minute or two.

Q: I didn't get a confirmation email. Does that mean my order didn't go through?
A: There is sometimes a huge delay in receiving confirmation emails. As long as you saw it on your computer screen go through you should be fine. Order tracking on the store site also has had reported issues as well. It is recommended that you check your credit card/bank account to confirm your order was placed.

Q: Are these discounts taken off the current price or standard MSRP?
A: While the store has lower than MSRP prices listed normally for some games, these deals are taken off of MSRP.

Q: How much is shipping?
A: The deals come with a free shipping option but there can be 3-4 days processing time before your order goes through in addition to ship time. You can select faster methods for premium shipping prices.

Q: Does the discount work for preorders?
A: So far there has been no preorder discount but that doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.

Q: Do these discounts work internationally?
A: It appears these discounts are only usable in the US EA online store.

Tips for getting deals:

1) Have the desired game in your cart ready to go.
2) Stalk the EA Flash Deals Facebook page until the deal goes live.
3) Follow @EAFlashDeals on Twitter for updates when codes go live.
3) Don't wait for the OP to update with the discount code. If it's not updated right away you may miss your opportunity to get the desired game.

On a personal note it truly thrills me to be able to have a chance to give back to a community that has helped me save a ton of money. I only hope I can do justice to this site and follow in the footsteps of some of the other thread managers like reddjoey in particular and keep this thing as up to date and as useful as possible.

Yea I think I'm gonna wait for the PS3 version to hit $20 or so also. Huge backlog anyways.

Sweet!!! Got my PS3 copy for $10.59 using my $20 coupon. Got the coupon because they messed up and delayed my $10 Godfather 2 order. lol.

Dead Space 2 next, please. :)

So this is the first time I hear about these flash deals and was wondering, is 50% off the standard discount? Just bought Dead Space 2 Limited for ps3 for $45 off ebay but if I am going to be able to get the collector's for $40 shipped I want to try to sell it and hold off for that.

I just have the limited edition version that comes with Extraction. Was talking about upgrading to the collector's with a flashdeal.

oh the limited.

i dunno if the DS2 CE will be the one offered in the flash deal.

Just got home. Going to eat some dinner and I will update the OP. Hope everyone got in for the deal. Was far too busy at work to jump on my desired PS3 version. At least I was able to get the code listed in the OP within a couple minutes. Hopefully it helped.

Updated the OP with a ton of FAQs. Mostly based on questions that arose in this thread. Past deals will take some time to compile. I may wait until Sunday to do this as it's not vital and I will be working a long shift again tomorrow. Sorry the FAQ is a little disorganized. It is still a work in progress.

Hope everyone got in on the deal!

The Godfather II was the reason for my $20 card too, sweet deal... a game I paid $8 for and traded for 6 go me a game that just came out for 10.

GG.
I'm going to get flamed to all hell for this, but I hated ME1. Couldn't even force myself to play through it very far to find out what the hype was all about.
Eh, that's the problem. I also thought ME was really bad when I first started playing, and didn't get very far at first. Later on, though, I pushed myself through the beginning, and now I think the game is phenomenal. Consider trudging through the first part, then tell me what you thought. (Not expecting it to change your view, but I definitely think it's a possibility)

Having a generic thread (rather than a deal-specific thread) for deals that come and go in (almost literally) a flash doesn't seem like a great idea.

Agreed.

These go so damn fast, I think it's so much easier when a new thread is created.
Agreed.

Except shipping takes like 4 days (and overlap the next deal) and we get the same questions over and over and discussion about deals that are dead.

That reminds me that I still havent gotten NHL yet.

People should be able to discuss deals that they've bought into, even if they're dead (the deals, that is - although if dead people want to talk about deals, no objection). I thought that is the purpose of the Deal Graveyard: the deal is dead, so the deal-specific thread is removed from the Deals page but should still be available for discussion until people get their product, play it, whine about it, etc.

Not a reason for dumping momentary deals into a single thread. A single thread makes more sense where the deals are ongoing and YMMV, like clearance items.

If the OP and / or mods can always change the topic title once an upcoming deal is announced, then I guess this is alright. Otherwise I'm not the biggest fan of a general thread for these.

What's the deal with the EA Store? I got my order for ME2 in pretty much as soon as the deal went up and got a confirmation order. However, my account shows no record of an order and my card hasn't been charged yet.

My copy should be arriving tomorrow.

So the consensus is to not bother then? I have no problem updating this thing as deals go live but if people prefer one-off threads then so be it. Personally I'm good either way. I can see the benefit of having a new thread pop up as the deals surface but on the other hand I get really sick of seeing 10 of them show up every time a deal comes up. In all likelihood a general thread won't prevent the latter anyway as people double post all kinds of stuff all the time but it's a decent attempt at a deterrent.

I've had this issue before. Just live chat with EA support. They can get everything straight for you.

No, a general thread won't prevent it; it will probably encourage it. When a Flash Deal is announced for Mass Effect 2, say, someone's (hopefully) going to quickly scan the first page of the Deals forum thread titles for "Mass Effect" and, not finding it (because it's buried in "EA Flash Deals"), is going to post it.

Addressing reposts should be no different than any other deal that gets fairly well publicized:

1. CAGs need to search before they post. Usually if the deal was just announced you don't even have to search, just scan the first page or two of the forum. If they persist in double-posting, a little "constructive criticism" may make them more cautious next time.

2. Mods need to do their job and merge reposts.

One offs work for me. That's going to get the word out faster then a generic OP that we are dependent on one person to update the title of. We're going to get one-off's anyway, so might as well just accept our fate....

I ordered ME2 for 360 seconds after the flash deal went live. My account was charged right away but my "order history" area of the website continues to show no orders and I've yet to receive shipping confirmation.

I used the live customer service chat on EA's site to ask about this. The agent first told me that there was an issue with my bank account and to take it up with them. I told him it's paypal and that it's already been charged and the funds have been removed from my account and pasted him the paypal stuff from my paypal overview. I asked him what the real problem was. He disappeared for a while and came back and said to just wait a few days for it to ship and still had no real answers.

I was about to get mad and he offered me a $20 coupon to the EA store. I said thanks and that was it.

I still have no idea if and when my ME2 is coming, but at least I scored $20 for the next flash deal!

Agreed!

So glad there is a thread for these deals! Seems like they do them every five minutes now. I hope they have another 50% anything in the EA Store again or something similar. I want Dante's Inferno, but for $10 or less.

If you read their previous posts it sounds like Dead Space 2 is coming next -- probably within the week.
