IMPORTANT NOTE: some of the deals do not appear on the ad scan. A lot of them are listed on the back of the flyer coupon. For example Custom Robo for $9.99 is not listed anywhere on the ad scan, but its on the backside of the section that says "Hot Offers" and has a picture of the two pokemon videos and F-zero GBA.

i sure am glad they fixed the hot shots form. i emailed them yesterday about it and the CSR said brick and mortar prices are different from our online ones. bah! i guess they found out their mistake. yay!

Picked up my 1080 and CustomRobo. Custom Robo was opened but it was mint all around so I don't care.

1) “Phillipe” told me this today, by email. I only want to get hot shots golf, not omega strain. Plus, my local eb doesn’t have hot shots golf (at least not today):

The purchase of both games is necessary. For more more information
please follow this link:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/rebates/50105-spring_02.asp

If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond to this
email. You can also give us a call at 877-432-9675, 7 days a week from
8 am to Midnight Eastern Standard Time.

2) Then, I called “Annette” @ ebgames customer service. I told here the rebate said you had to buy both games yesterday, so… She said her supervisor said there was a discrepancy and you only need to buy one game to get the voucher. I guess I’ll hold them to their word. *Whew* :booty:

We have already confirmed that the purchase of both games IS NOT NECESSARY and they have already changed the form which now reads "OR" and not "AND".

Thanks, though.

I was doing the hot shots deal in store today and the sales person tried slipping a display copy off on me, I refuse to pay even tax for a display copy, so I told him where he could stick it.
Just a heads up that they fixed the Hot Shots/SF voucher form. Now reads "or" instead of "both":

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/rebates/50105-spring_02.asp
I'm not so sure that this form makes me feel anymore at ease. For one thing, it says "Hot Shots Golf Force" ...though I'm sure that's ok as the numbers match up. But I always thought "forms" that we have to complete had to have spaces for you to fill out information in. Hope they put up another version soon.

thanks cheapy, i didn't see that. the csr reps keep giving me the same answer everytime. maybe they're doing it on purpose just to give me a hard time.

Any word on them removing the "Must include Original UPC" from the form? I will not remove the UPC, and I hate sending in rebate forms that don't meet all the requirements.

Then your only option is to either call them yourself and ask or send in a copy of the UPC and risk not getting your $20 voucher.

I just found and bought the display game from EB Games, after going around the city to 3 other locations. It was Hot Shots Golf Fore, and I had to settle for it. Weird thing was that the ebgames.com store availability product finder listed at all the stores in my city as still in stock new or pre-played, but when I went to the store, they only had used ones or none at all. The eb dude was really nice, and he went looking for the suitable game case for the Hot Shot Golf Fore display copy. It was hard looking through the entire PS2 game section, but he found it after 5 minutes. He then put in the game and manual, and shrinkwrapped the game. The game wasn't scratched at all, just dust particles. Weird thing was that it rung up at $29.99, but he overran the computer for me. This is what the receipt says:

Just wanted everyone to know that I picked up 1080 Avalanche for GC for $10. I ended up getting JUST the case. The game was "EB new" and had the sticker seal put on by them. When I opened it up, NO game! I went back the next day and got the game. I asked if they would do anything for the trouble of the extra trip and the guy game my buddy and I a bunch of CRAP! Damn EB! I am glad that Gamestop is "swallowing" them up! At least Gamestop gives you like 5% off for the game being opened!
||| |||| ||||||||||||| |||||| ||||| ||| |||
Haha I want to print this out and see if it scans at EB.

This is perhaps common knowledge, but thought I'd post what I discovered about getting credit for a trade-in on a GC usable online.

According to the dude at my EB I could get the $30 trade in from Brothers in Arms on an Edge Card. He though these were usable online, but the guy behind him accurately corrected him that they are not 'yet'. He then said you could use the credit on an Edge card to buy a normal gift card. At that I kind of looked at him like 'Uh huh...' and the guy behind him said 'Well, we'd have to test that and see.'

I also asked and they both confirmed that the Edge card wouldn't give me any sort of bonus on the trade in, just on the purhcase of POed stuff.

So I'd have to pay $5 for an Edge card to get the credit in a format usable at any EB B&M, then I truly doubt I'd be able to buy an online enabled GC with the Edge credit. (Plus I checked a few they had at the store and none had PINs.)

Seems kind of dumb that they don't let you put trade in credit on a gift card to begin with. (If they are supposed to do this, please let me know as the dude didn't seem 100% knowledgable.)

So given the hoops I'll just be taking my BIA to eBay at this point.

When you mail away for the free 20 dollar gift certificate how long does it actually take to get it. I've done mail in rebates before that have taken like 6 months to get the check for.

In my experience, EB is quick. Like 2 to 4 weeks. Part of it might be that only give you a voucher to spend on future purposes. It's not an actual check. And theoretically, the faster they get it to you, the faster you're back in their store looking for other stuff to buy. So in their case, it's beneficial for them to get it to you as fast as possible.

In my experience, EB has not been quick. It's taken me two full months (sometimes longer) of waiting to receive my rebate slips. On the other hand, EB has never stiffed me on a rebate like some other companies have, so I'm satisfied with them, especially given that they sometimes have really good deals on some new and used games.

Anyone still waiting for their order to shipped? I ordered Spy vs Spy, Dai, and Megaman command mission GC and the order is still on hold.

That's one reason I'm going to clean out my Edge card credit the next time I go to EB (yeah, $25 is a ton of credit, though I want it off the Edge card, with the EB/GS merger coming up) and work out flushing the rest of the credit off my gift card ASAP.
syphon filter dropped to 10, but it still has the 20 rebate.
You're right. I wonder if we're still going to get $20 in rebate.

thanks Strider Turbulence and 62t for the quick reply.
Guess I'll buy it.
I'm not a big fan of this series (Syphon Filter)
But who can resist?, they're paying me to take it (i know.... it is only a merchandise card / online credit. but the principle is still the same).

Just got off the phone with EB. The CSR, Andre said we can make a photocopy of the UPC and send that in with the rebate for Syphon Filter or Hot Shots Golf Fore.

I've had no troubles ordering using mine online -- I just used mine a few minutes ago. You just have to make sure that you get an Edge card that has a PIN on it.

You only need to pay the $5 to get the sticker added to the Edge card that gives you the extra 10% discount. The card itself is free.

Here's something else that I noticed -- DBZ Sagas for GC is selling for $35 at the moment. With the current trade-in promos, it trades in for $30.

It's also part of the deal where you get a $15 voucher if you buy that + another game.

SRS is $15 and also qualifies for the voucher.

So, if you wanted SRS for $5, you could buy both for $50, send in for the $15 voucher & then trade DBZ Sagas back in for $30.

I'm about to buy syphon filter but I'm hesitant about the new eb / gamestop merger. I hope the gift voucers will not get lost in the shuffle, especially since the online rebate specifies that the voucer can only be used at ebgames.com.

aw what the hell. I suppose I'll do it.

Im thinking the same thing, oh well why not.......its worth a try

SO i can just photocopy the UPC to mail in???

Thanks for the pointer guys. I've been looking to play Manhunt (XBOX), at the $8 mark I'm not going to wait any longer. Also Deus Ex 2 (XBOX) for $5 seems too good to pass up.

Keep up the good work.

can you buy both hot shots golf fore and syphon filter to get $40 in voucher back. I am new to eb voucher policy, so I dont want to spend $30 and find out i dont get my money back in the end. thanks.

Please re-read the thread to find out the answer to your question.

Dang, just came back, and saw the CAG main page. There were a lot of $5-8 games I wanted to buy, but too bad for me they are OOS now. I actually bought MP2 and Mafia for $10 each new over the weekend, but they're still unopened, and I can save about $7 if I return them and rebuy. Anyone know what time EB updates their stock online? I can camp at night, but I don't know their time zone. I think they update at 6 a.m. though.

I went in to trade my 5 PSX games and my junky PSx for the 25 in credit. (I know that I may have been able to get more elsewhere, but I gave them CC 2buck games and my PSX is iffy at best)...anyhow picked up 1080 Avalanche for $8.00 brand new. Anyone else get that anomaly. Time to send in my HSG voucher tomorrow, too.

And now we should all mourn the loss of EB Games .. no more great trade in deals .. no more random $9.99 games .. Gamestop now officially rules the gaming world...

Well I just got my copy of Custom Robo yesterday at the local store. I went in looking and all they had were the used display copies (but complete nonetheless) but didn't bother me any (I'm not as picky as some of the people around here) ;)

Anyway, the manager whom I'm getting to know pretty good, rang me up and we talked for a bit more, I helped him out with some music he was looking for and as I was leaving I looked at my reciept only to see he took an extra dollar off the price for me, so I got the game for $9.50 with tax.

He's been really helpful with getting me games in the past few weeks, helped me get a PS1 title (that usually sells for $30) for $2. And he held it for me for 3 days.

Only thing that sucks is with the merger now, he's talking about quitting evetually because he thinks their gonna dock his pay $10,000 a year (which is what Gamestop managers get less than Eb managers from what he told me) anyway, now I'm going to lose a good resource for getting cheap stuff as well as someone who wasn't a total tool (like the other stores usually are) to me when I went into get stuff.

Ah, didn't know that. Still I'm sure they'd look at me like I was some kind of dimwit if I told them I wanted the card with no sticker.

Also, according to EB's site you can't use credit from an Edge card online. But you did this just recently? I'd do it if the credit was usable online, but there are too many things up in the air with this one.

If you trade-in a game they'll just give you one; that's how they keep track of your trade-in credit, instead of the damned printed paper slips that everyone else uses (they must all just hope that you'll loose or forget about them).

You can use your edge card online if you get one with the scratch-off `PIN code' on the back.,
I've used mine online a bunch of times. The main downside of using your Edge credit online is that they still charge you tax, in-store your Edge credit is tax-free (well, at least where I am).

I've subscribed to Gamespot, so I've got a 10% off code for online purchases, which takes a little of the sting out (as does GAG15/Edge/SAVER for used stuff). Certainly the best way to use your credit online is to buy something at the store, then return it so that you get a gift card, since they also add on what the tax would have been. Not something that you can do all the time though.
Please re-read the thread to find out the answer to your question.
The answer might change from what you previously typed out since EB fixed the online form.

Even before they fixed the online form we had the answer to that question.

But thanks for nothing.
Will ordering Syphon Filter with a preplayed game to use SAVER void the rebate form?
I wouldn't think so. EB has been very good about coming through on these gift code rebates. If you want an official answer, shoot them an e-mail.

Yep, I gave their online department a call and they said it was fine. I agree EB has been good in the past about sending these codes, probably the only place I would consider reliable for getting rebates.
