ebay seller disappeared and never sent item

So I bought a DS with pokemon diamond on ebay and sent a money order for 130$. After a few weeks went by I never got the item and found that they were no longer a member on ebay. So I reported an item not received and 10 days later they pretty much said there was no luck contacting them there isn't anything else they will do aside from help the authorities if they get involved. I go to the post office to see if the money order was cashed and 2 weekw later I find that it was. Now I would like to know what I can do to somehow find this seller, since he did receive the order , can the post office do something? Or should I contact their area police? I have never had to do any of this stuff since my other transactions were usually very smooth. Thanks for any help that can be offered.
 
I'd contact their area police. You won't ever get your money back but maybe you can get them in trouble at least. Make sure you keep the money order receipt and the relevant information from ebay.
 
That sucks. You can try the local police. I had to do that for a bad trade on CAG and ended up getting my games back.

Can you find a phone number? If it is a kid it might worth trying to call and talking to the parents. If it is an adult I would contact the police.

Ebay used to provide protection but it looks like you have to pay with Paypal to qualify for it now.

If it's a kid, aren't the parent responsible for the theft since he's a minor? That'll light a fire under their ass if they receive a call about their little kid stealing money.
 
Since you checked at the post office I assume it was a postal money order? Plus I assume you sent the MO via USPS? That qualifies it for a mail fraud case. I'd ask about that at your post office. Contacting the local authorities of the seller isn't a bad idea as well, but this might be too piddly for them to do anything on.

I was about suggest mail fraud too but I wasn't sure whether or not this would quality. I don't think most local police do anything about cases like this unless they have a few reports (like at least3).

Yea I will look into the USPS and see what they will do , so the chances of getting my money back are 0 then?
