[quote name='YoshiFan1']Those perks are only for powersellers, which sucks for those who just sell a little each month.
It's almost impossible to have the 4.8 requirement in all categories. I have 3 4.9's and a 4.8 and that is with me telling all buyers when I receive payment and when the item will be sent plus Paypal sends an e-mail with the DC number adn that still isn't good enough for a 5.0. Not that it matters since I'll never be a powerseller.

Well, I'm not a Power Seller and I got this email and it says nothing of needing to be a Power Seller or of the 4.8 requirement. If I follow the links in the email it goes to an eBay page with more detail - nothing like that in there either. It does seem like the feedback percentage being based only on the last 12 months is a thing being applied to everyone though - not sure why the email makes it seem like a "perk".
As for the star ratings, I hear you. I have 5.0/4.9/4.8/4.8. The 5.0 for item as described is nice but ought to be the case as I take pictures of the actual items I'm selling. The communication and shipping times one piss me off a bit (even though they are still very high) as I do the same as you - send an email when mailing (in addition to the PayPal-generated email). I also nearly always ship same day or at most the very next day. Thing is, I've had a few packages to Canada take 4-5 weeks via first-class mail - of course the postmark should show I mailed it immediately, but whatever. The shipping fees one is a tough one - basically you are competing against "Free Shipping" there which is something a lot of people expect to get (I know I do when ordering from online retailers
). I charge $4 for first-class and $6 for priority which I think is very reasonable. The 4.8 is not bad, of course, so that one is probably as "accurate" as the 5.0 for "as described".
And don't forget, all it takes is one jackass giving you a 2 star or something and you won't have a 5.0 any more (unless you sell 100's of things).
