Whew, I'm tired!

$20 Max Payne with a $20 voucher? Excellent news, CheapyD. Almost like a free game.

I'm curious to see what the other ones are.

^^Having one of those days eh? Early on in the day I order a bunch of stuff, then BOOM! Check CAG one last time before I sleep, some killer deal and makes me spend even more.

Cool deals Cheapy, but nothing for me.

if only i got paid today instead of next week. i would be all over some of these deals.

i check return of the king for xbox and it has a $10 gift voucher link as well. so maybe $14.99 + $10 gv?

edit: oh nevermind i see CheapyD already posted up there

I probably just didn't look good enough...but where is the link for the gift voucher? I specifically was interested in the FFXI combo.

Yeah, but he didn't post it under the $10 voucher heading. We'll cut him some slack. ;)

I bought Alias the other day at the $14.99 price (I think on Wednesday)can I still use the gift voucher? This doesn't work as you order. This is like a rebate form?

I just called cust. service and ordered Max Payne 2 for 19.99; You get the $20 gift voucher with the game in the mail...Just call up customer service and order it that way
The Max Payne 2 voucher says Max Payne 2 and Van Helsing... do you have to buy both to get the rebate?
No.
Is that link to the Return of the King rebate just broken or is the $10 rebate not going to apply to that game?
I believe its a mistake. I don't think there is supposed to be a rebate for that game.

Ahhh, I see. No matter, it was pretty cheap and I've been meaning to pick it up anyways. Thanks.

There is an awful lot of plurality in the wording of the rebate.

Receive a $20 EBGames mail-in gift voucher
when you purchase the following titles:

Featured games: Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (XB) and Van Helsing (XB)

Mail the completed form along with the original EBgames.com packing list (dated September 17, 2004 to October 4, 2004) and the original proof of purchase (UPC code) from the boxes to:

EDIT: But it's just probably my way of justifying not to buy any more games.

That's what I was thinking. I would be pissed if I bought this for 20 and didn't get my rebate.

it does seem like we have to purchase all the titles in order to receive the rebate. oh well i purchased alias and max payne 2 and hope to get both rebates. it's ok if i dont get the rebate because i'm not paying full price for them anyway
Customer service told me you have to buy both Max Payne 2 and Van Helsing to receive the discount. He also said the discount can be combined with my Gamespot.com 10% off. He seemed pretty clueless though, so he could be wrong.
I think he is wrong but I have an email into my EB rep.

The email I got from her says:

3. $20 EB Games mail-in gift voucher on the following titles:

236536-Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne XB
241891-Van Helsing XB

$10 EB Games mail-in gift voucher on the following titles:

-242233-ShellShock: Nam '67 PC
-Purchase 236401 Final Fantasy XI and 243301-Final Fantasy XI: Chains
of Promathia PC together and receive a $10 EB Gift voucher.
-242656-Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Platinum Pack PC
-236555-Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Team Sabre PC

$10 EB Games mail-in gift voucher on the following titles:

235142-Tenchu-Return from Darkness XB
242380-ShellShock: Nam '67 XB
234074-Alias XB

This might be a silly question, but I don't understand why it is necessary for the mail in rebate. I mean, they sent us the game, so shouldn't they know that we bought it from them? Unless it's a way to get forgetful people to forget to do so.

They do the mail in rebate because industry wide numbers show that only about 50% of the people who buy products with mail-in rebates actually end up mailing them in...So it draws consumers to buy a product but doesn't actually cost them anything...Why would an EB rep be discussing a gamestop promotion??? I talked to the customer service rep at ebgames and she said you only have to buy ONE of the games, not both to receive the $20 voucher, so you can buy MP2 or VH and get $20 back, or you could buy both and get $40

Hell yeah. I've been meaning to get Max Payne 2 for a while now. A $20 voucher plus my Gamespot 10% discount makes it sooooo worth it. Thanks again CAG!!!! :D

That's funny. Around 11:00 I was browsing the EB site and saw that LotR and Max Payne had a link to a gift voucher. But the link was broken so I assumed it was a glitch. Guess I just hit the sale before it was official.

I don't understand why it is necessary for the mail in rebate

like someone mentioned above said, only 50% return them. Those who do send them in, it requires them to get something else with it, bringing them back into the store, or website in this case, allowing them to find more products, thus them buying more.

50%... wow ... that's really a good rate of return. I'd have to think that everyone viewing this site will send them in. We'd all be returning for additional games anyways too.
Have to cut out the original UPC, no thanks.
I thought I heard someone say that they just photo copied their upc and still got the rebate.
Have to cut out the original UPC, no thanks.
I just made a copy and sent it in and it was accepted earlier this year and I've heard of others doing the same. If they deny me I'd call and bitch, You shouldn't have to destroy box art to get a voucher.
