ECA Update: Amazon discount gone "for the time being"; in process of self-destruction
Just to let everybody know that was keeping their "J" codes, the only ones that were still valid, that they expired today. I think I checked earlier and they were working but now have dissapeared on two seperate accounts. Sucks as I might have ordered a few games with it for my new XBOX 360. So now ECA is officially over for us cagers. Sorry, to report the bad news.
That sucks-- luckily worked on the lightning deals this morning though. :bouncy:

I just used my last code today on the lightning deals also, great timing- I was a bit hesitant to place the order since it was my last code too.

fuck. I was planning to get a Rock Band 2 set to split up amongst me and my girlfriend, along with Lego Rock Band, and now the code on my account is gone.

Oh well, now Amazon gets $0 from me, haha.

Well, damn, and I missed whatever these lightning deals were... I know I still had at least one more code on each of mine and my wife's accounts. I still have a ton of trade-in credit on both accounts and now just got the $10 NSMB credit. After I use that $10 gaming credit, though, I'll just use the Amazon credit on non-gaming stuff and go back to getting my games at Gamestop or just waiting for clearance.

One of the games I got via double-stack I have yet to even open and I just saw it cheaper at Fry's the other day (Nostalgia: $19.99) - so in the end, it made little difference anyway. I'll just go back to not getting new releases right away and I'll save more money like I was before.

No way I mailing them. That's a load of crap, and worse than how it was BEFORE they implemented the cancel system months ago.

My credit card numbers have changed since I signed up, so I'm hoping that I'm set-that if they try to rebill me, it'll just decline them and I'm fine. I'm actually semi-worried they'll like bill me and send me to collections or something insane though.

Like some others on that thread, this is an organization I've defended from the beginning, but this cancel thing is crap and inexcusable.

Thank god I used my last 2 eca codes on the 2 lightning deals games today. Got Madden 10 and R&C for 37 bucks. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Yeah, I was waiting for my NSMB $10 credit to show up so it sucks that the ECA discount went away this afternoon as I was going to use it with the credit and $5 credit I got from UC2. I wonder why it expired in the middle of the day and not at the end. Oh well. I have those credits and a $20 credit on another account I got from MW2. The only thing I have left to order is Afrika for me and MUA2 for my nephew. I was hoping to use the ECA discount also on for some new XBOX games. Looks like besides what I have pre-ordered I will wait for new game prices to fall before buying them now. No need to waste money when I already have a backlog and won't play a lot of them for long time anyhow. Well I got a lot of orders with the ECA discount so I can't complain.

I think he was talking about the ECA codes expiring. I got my NSMB credit the other day (still waiting for the game, though), and it says that it's good until the end of January.

Yeah, it's just that some of us were hoping to order with our last ECA code PLUS the NSMB code...
Of all the discounts I have encountered...in my travels...this was the most...useless...
Fixed & smiley kept the same.
You appear to be stupid as you just made quite possibly the dumbest post I have ever seen. Not only is your example pointless, but it isn't even CLOSE to what I said.

And for future knowledge when you say "Six Figures" that doesn't include the cents

Oh, and I should have figured you would already start with the ad hominem insults. It is the last desperate attempt at a "I'm taking my ball and going home" argument of the weak.
And on our next episode of Armchair Lawyer, dmdragon makes ad hominem attacks while arguing that ad hominem attacks are a sign of intellectual weakness. Somewhere in all that selfpwning though, you forgot to address the main topic: you made yourself look rather foolish by trying to determine whether or not a statute was violated just by looking at the name.
Wait, the NSMB credit already expired? WTF?
Sorry, I fixed it. I was waiting for the $10 Credit from NSMB to use with ECA and UC2 $5 credit for a game purchase but the ECA discount expired at the same time I received it. Man I should have pulled the trigger with my other ECA discount and $20 MW2 on another account to buy MUA2 for my nephew. I was thinking that the game would fall further in price since it really isn't all that.

If I cancel one of my pre-orders (that I've used an ECA code with).. will I be able to make a new purchase since the code is still apart of my account? :whistle2:s

I really hope I can watch an episode of this for GTA4: Episodes of Liberty City; sounds like a great show!

Probably won't work, but you can call them up and ask them to add an item to your pre-order.

Nope as the ones I had in my two accounts were ones that had been from canceled pre-orders and they both disappeared . Like the above poster said maybe you could email CS about adding a new game to your order to get the ECA on it.

Success! I was able to add four items onto an open order with an ECA discount (double-stacked, even) just now by calling customer service. With the inclusion of FFXIII, this'll keep the order open until at least mid-March for more additions. Woo!

Damn, I was just about to make some orders today with my remaining codes to find out they all died when I didn't check CAG for a day. Luckily I had an open order for GOW:collection and just had them call me to add SSFIV and FFXIII as well. Thanks for your post.

I had Ratchet and Clank in my cart with an ECA code and the Lightning Discount but I wanted to wait until after work to make the order just in case.

Got home and went to order and saw my ECA code dissapeared. Dissapointing to say the least...

Question: So those that have had success getting a CSR to add new games to an old order, has the new $20 off an $80 VG purchase applied to this new part of the order has well?

What did you tell CS to get the games attached to a prior order with ECA discount? Also, did you have any games already shipped to you in that ECA discount order?

Call them up with your order number that you have the discount on and have the ASINs ready for the games you want to add. It doesn't matter if you already have some games shipped. Do not mention ECA.

yea i paid $20 for my membership.. MAYBE i broke even at the end.

wish the amazon discount was still around.. or atleast for some other useful benefits to appear

hmm so adding an order by ASIN, can you get Gold box too? You'll have to tell them right? and how soon does it reflect and see it online?

I have one order, Mario Galaxy 2 with ECA on it, would be nice to throw more games on that order.

I have one order that has sooo many discounts on it, all promotional I don't know what the hell happened.... I don't think it's a double/triple ECA... one's a $10 credit I know.

This is ridiculous though. Wonder how long this will last.

Thanks, I might try it if I keep my XBOX 360 arcade I got with the Walmart deal. I got most of my PS3 & Wii games already ordered through most of next year.

Pretty much what Guerrilla already said. Just tell the rep that you have an open order you'd like to add some items to, give them the order number, then give them the ASIN numbers of the items you'd like to add. It's quick and easy. And yes, I already had a couple items in that order shipped to me, but that doesn't matter. Two of the things I had added to the order last night were preorders, and another two were in stock and shipped out this morning.

I would be careful about anything more complicated than adding another item. If they somehow messed up the existing discount on the order, I doubt you'd be able to get it back.

Thanks for doing that and letting us know. Definately will help for newer games.

Yeah I figured if they tried to manually adjust, they'll nuke the ECA and there isn't any way to get those back now. Good idea not to bother with a measily 5%.

I'll phone and start adding some pre-orders! woot!

Cool once I find games to add to it I will do it. Unfortunately I can't add some of those gc to the eca order. I have 3 out there $5 UC2, $20 MW2 and $10 NSMB.

Flip opportunities pop up almost daily, just keep your eyes open so you can turn the bonus credit into an amazon gift card which you can apply to your order

What does this mean?
Amazon sells a game for $14, trade-in(at Amazon) is $14.75

Buy 3 copies with game credit and trade them right back to Amazon for a gift card
Ok I guess this would apply more to lightning type deals since the price only remains low for a small period of time. Doesn't Amazon ajdust their trade ins when they have special sales on particular games to prevent just as what you described above from happening?

they do not, although the price will auto adjust itself and lower as more people submit trades. It's actually not amazon buying the games, but some 3rd party.

I actually tried this with my GoW3 pre-order, but it didn't work. I pre-ordered the game so long ago, though, when it was in my gold box that its possible that I didn't have an unexpired promotion code, but all I know is that it didn't work (my GoW3 remains discounted).
Lol, now the stackers are stacking orders. You make me proud. :applause:
Why the fuck are you proud for contributing to more and more people continuing to scam Amazon? Are you proud that you're guaranteeing them not doing deals like this one ever again or that you're ripping off a store that generally offers games at their lowest prices to begin with? You should not be proud you should be shameful, and that's the fucking problem why deals are ruined all the time.

So even after the dead horse has been beaten to hell, the same stackers who fucked it up for everyone are still trying to get their jollies by constantly contacting about adding to their triple-stacked orders that should be cancelled. Next step is for Amazon to stop allowing order additions completely.

Going to be laughing at these same people when their $1000 orders get flagged by a Amazon financial manager and cancelled.

Yup, just saw GOWIII is $89.99 on Amazon and was gonna use U2 credit/ECA code and when I placed my order, saw that it only took $5 off, then realized ECA codes are dead.(J ones) Sucks since I get taxed and ECA used to offset that. Oh well, not complaining about it like some folks. I got deals on the games I really wanted to Its all good. We are cheapasses to begin with so all those against stacking should shus already.

I am going to have to agree that people continuing to abuse promotions to save a few bucks in the short term will probably cost themselves (and the rest of us) even more in the long term. I'm amazed at how people want instant gratification and refuse to think of the big picture. Its just foolish.

Im sure it would be more beneficial to stop the abuse and encourage them to run more promotions in the future instead of reinforcing the reason why they were taken away in the first place. That would be the logical thing to. But hey, it's completely up to you.

Apparently, you just have to go to http://www.theeca.com/feed_back, and just submit the form saying you want to cancel. I'll try it out with my brothers account, and let everyone know how it goes.
Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? I'm starting to feel that I might have to block charges through my credit card company.

I like how they say that the feature to remove auto-renewal was never suppose to be there. But it was. And for how long? Even if you believe the company that did the site put it there, we're also suppose to believe that NO ONE from the ECA looked at the site to make sure they were getting what they paid for?
Lol, no skin off our noses if they cancel the order. We've got nothing to lose.
You should lose your Amazon account.

Maybe those who did not stack would be okay with it if they got their money's worth, but some of us got screwed because others stacked to buy games they won't even play or play before they can get them cheaper.

I agree they should lose their account, but we know amazon won't do that as it's bad for business. The problem with society as a whole is that no one is willing to take responsibility for their actions, or don't think of the consequences of it. For the most part people in general are greedy and self serving. There will always be someone to try to con/rip off the nice guy. In this case it's amazon, and they still continue with the "It's a business, it doesn't hurt them" argument.

Let me ask you guys this. If this happened to you running your business would you be happy that you tried to help some people out with a discount and they tried to rip you off? Hell no you wouldn't
