And I'm saying if you're going to get all teary-eyed and sobbing about something, do it about something close to you that you can actually change and actually matters. The bitching about the crime is worse than the crime itself.

exactly.

I don't think anyone was "teary-eyed", "sobbing", or even "bitching", really. And I disagree that having an open discussion about stealing being wrong is worse than stealing, but if you feel that way, then you chose the wrong thread.

You. You and several others are wailing girlishly about it.

There's no open discussion about it. No non-idiot argues that stealing is alright. What I'm saying is: you weren't going to affect the outcome regardless of how hard you weeped and blubbered, so your weeping and blubbering energy would have been better suited protesting something in your local area that needs whining to fix.

I understand the concept of stealing, I understand it's wrong, and I also understand that online people can be faceless/nameless jerks sometimes.

Either way, he stole the pen, big whoopdef**ckingdoo, if someone wants it than let them get it from him. i don't see the need to constantly rag him about it even after the pen is out of his hands.

By the way, it's JUST A F**CKING PEN! not to mention a pen that doesn't write. Now if he stole a demo unit, that's something to marvel at...even though he would be a criminal. ;)

I am not trying to defend, nor attack joystickz for posting this. I just wanted to say something about this kind of thread.

This is CheapyD's site. Alot of the deals that he posts are given directly to him by whatever company is sponsoring the deal. Now, should Nintendo (or any other company) want to give a deal to Cheapy, they might see this and change their mind, not wanting to deal with a site whose members may or may not be selling/trading ill-gotten goods. Cheapy does a good thing with this site, and asks for no direct contribution from anyone to participate in the deal discussions and the trading/selling forums. Seeing as how this type of thing could affect a company's participation in this site (in this case a company whom the community would very much like to participate), I think all deals of this type (being ones whose item was obtained through questionable means or is intended for promotion and not profit) should be PM'd to Cheapy before they are posted in the actual forums. This is Cheapy's site, not ours. And it is rude and unfair to Cheapy to post something that may reflect negatively in the eye's of a company that wishes to give Cheapy the oppurtunity to advertise a deal.

Again, I'm not saying that joystickz was in the wrong for trying to trade the pen here, nor am I saying that anyone who accused him of stealing is in the wrong either. I am simply saying that it shouldn't be up to us; it's up to Cheapy in terms of what appears on his site. So in the future, if you have something you want to trade/sell that may cause a problem with someone, email or PM Cheapy and ask for permission. And if he says yes, ask Cheapy to post in the thread stating that he approved it, so that there is no uncertainty of whether it should be there or not. If you don't like it, don't post in the thread. And if you want to sell something that YOU KNOW will cause a problem (and don't pretend like you didn't know that it would be a problem), ask Cheapy for permission. That way, everyone stays happy.
Any sale of stolen goods is on its face false, and thus worthless.
Unless you did a clandestine trade via email or in person, any venue that would post a listing for the sale (Ebay, for example) would have to pull the listing because of the obviously illicit nature of the product.
Ok, my post is obviously the one that sparked this all off.
Notice the complete lack of emotion in the previous statement.
It is a cold, clinical statement of fact. There is no moral aggrandizing taking place in it. It's not saying he's a bad person for taking it.

He took it as that, and thus the resulting tract the thread has taken.

Nuh-uh, girlfriend. Cornfedwb "sparked this all off" according to the time stamp on the posts. It's nothing major, anyway. Just a question of misplaced outrage.

He's lucky he got one. I tried to get as many of these as I could, and I guess I just missed one. I mean like, its not like it like matters

BTW If anyone wants one,

I'M JUST KIDDING I DON'T HAVE ANY. I DIDN'T EVEN GO TO E3

Im sure that if Cheapy see's something he doesnt like on the site, he'll take it off. Thats also what he has moderators for to remove stuff like that. SO instead of bothering cheapy for every little question just let people post what they want. IF theres a problem with it, let cheapy deal with it. Im pretty sure that cheapy didnt askany of you personally to be his moral police.

Well, he did ask me, but my plate is pretty full running my table manners strike force, so I had to decline.

This is retarded. Stealing is wrong. Period. Im not on a high horse for stating the obvious. It didnt belong to you and you stole it and now you are trying to sell something online that you stole for free for decent profit. That's like me selling copies of Half Life 2 that wont come out for months for money on the net. You stole a prototype and that is an illegal offense. Dumbass.

Plus, please take this retarded crap to Ebay where it can be sold with other stolen E3 shit. Not here where our deals count on honesty. Do you see warez shit on here? Do you see mod chips? Peddle you garbage elsewhere.

Tell that to people who's loved ones were killed in 9/11

But I like cant sell on ebay because I'm not old enough lol!!!! I got into e3 from the back and like they didn't even kno i borrowed (lol) there stuff!!!

ONCE AGAIN JUST KIDDING. THIS IS A LOT OF FUN, DON'T YOU THINK?

And that right there is exactly what "The bitching about the crime is worse than the crime itself" is talking about. you have now gone from a stylus to a freakin suicide/mass murder. Great.

It's ok, I do feel better about myself. I contacted Nintendo's Piratcy Dept. and they were very happy about this information. I got a $200 Finder's Fee for they're website to buy stuff with....wooo!

Yes, because taking a stylus IS comparable to 9/11. Congratulations, you've just invalidated everything you've ever said and ever will say with that powerfully retarded statement.

Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How in your wildest imagination can you EVER compare 9/11 to someone taking a Stylus? I think you better change your Username to Jackass, cause thats what you are!

" I think you better change your Username to Jackass, cause thats what you are! "

Tell that to people who's loved ones were killed in 9/11...I bet they wouldnt think I was a jackass.

I know people that died on 9/11 you moron. I live in Ny and was supposed to be there that morning, and yes i still think your a jackass!

It seems the morality here is that you shouldn't take something that isn't yours and use it for your own gain. Well, some people on this site have been very open and giving with their $15 off at EA games coupons. EA specifically sends those coupons out to people who subscribe to the e-newsletter. EA undoubtedly sells the email list to telemarketers or uses the list of emails for some other purpose that they believe can potentially make them more profitable. Marketing, whatever. The purpose of the coupons is that they are to be used by the person who received it as kind of a trade off for giving up your information (email). So, giving or using someone elses coupn code is misuse of the coupon and therefore should be frowned upon under many of your arguments. Same with signing up for stuff using a fake name or other information. How is this different? I don't remember there being a huge outcry over this type of behavior.

I am sure many of you will say, well, we're not profiting from it because we are not selling them. True, but they still have monetary value and you are not using it as it was intended to be used.

Stealing is stealing and I don't condone it. But you all need to be consistent. Don't be a hypocrite by blasting someone for their deceit while justifying your own.

Sure E3 is indutry, but there are also ton of teenager/20s that are just the same as your average gamer who would do the exact same thing/or worse. If Nintendo was so worried about it they 1. would not have put any stylus inside the demo knowing that it has the poibility of being stolen.2. would have glued it or put a cheapo placehholder in it.
I don't think they really cared if they even noticed. The fact is they probably have tons more somewhere. He didnt steal the 1 and only prototype in existance thus setting back the production run and postponing the DS's releae.

I would not have done the same thing as this guy did, but carrying on like a bunch of soccermoms about his immorality and how evil he is is not going to change anything. He's an adult and he knows what he did and will have to live with himself.
Opinions are best said and moved on because you are not going to change anyone's opnion on it.
I seriously doubt that all of you preaching are so squeeky clean, that in your childhood have never stoel or permanently borrowed anything.
Those in glass houses......
Flame on.....

Did I miss the part where he explains that the stylus is nothing special? See I went to E3 and the styli they used were just cheap stuff you can pick up and any Staples for 1.99 for a pack of 3... they said on the floor they hadn't even designed a place for the stylus on the DS yet so there was no official stylus at all. Frankly they wouldnt even have missed it really, they'll probably laugh like silly bastards when they find out what was being traded here. They were getting lost on every other DS I checked, it's probably why they gave out the flashing ones so you had something to use!

It's like taking a peice of plastic from a car crash, it's a useless bit of nothing that they wernt going to miss!

No if he'd taken a shirt or one of the flashin stylus THAT would be a problem because those were official items that you have to make an effort for. for all we know he just went and bough one for 50 cent and CLAIMS it's the official thing... not that there ever was an offical item worth "stealing" from off the floor.

This thread is just spectacularly lame, if there was a crime it was that he worked people up over nothing.

I only responded because mookyjooky bumped it up to the front page again... sorta like you did... OMFG IDID IT AGAIN2!@!!1

feh, whatever lets just let this one die people it's not worth responding to anymore.

I believe that anything that Mookyjooky said, says, and ever will say be completely void. And even if it is something of value, I say we just PWN (or OWN, whichever you choose) him over and over again until he cries....or something....

New Post WEEEE! Im crying already....quick the bandwagon is rollin! Jump on and hate mooky for just joking around about how serious this thread was! Jump on! Its comin around again!

Ya know, it would really be a great idea, if there was a "Mark this Post for Moderation" type deal here, kinda like Gamefaqs.
