Eternal Sonata - Gen. Discussion + Info
I know it's the wrong thread, but I was curious if any of you knew how long Blue Dragon is?
Took me about 55 hours to beat the game and finish the sidequests and superbosses.
I'm in the final dungeon now with about 49 hours clocked. About 40 of those are actual gameplay since I did leave the game paused for a while at times. I explored everything without using a guide (I only referenced to make sure I didn't miss score pieces) and talked to every NPC twice, sometimes four times since they change what they say when you finish parts of the story.
As an FYI, I've left the game on overnight and my time doesn't continue. If the game is "paused", the clock doesn't move. If you're on the menu... it does.

Cool, wasn't aware of that but I did "pause" it by pulling up the menu a lot too. :)

As a side note, if you decide to do Mysterious Unison before completing the game on the first playthrough you can expect several more hours of gameplay. I'm having a blast.

I just go the game in the mail today & played about 15 minutes of it. I don't want to get into it so much just yet, but WOW  This game looks amazing, so colorful. Even on my 32' CRT that only does 480p it looks great. I'd love to see it in 1080p.

I don't know why but I completly forgot this game was done by Tri Cresendo. With the first 15 minutes I really like what I see & hear.

It took me 22.5 hours to beat it. It is not like I rushed through it either, I talked with most of the town people and got most of the treasure. I also entered the optional dungeon but didnt finish it. I might go back to finish that for the achievement. However I probably wont play the game a second time.

Okay, I haven't played too much but I've played enough to learn that Mineral Powder is the only item tax-exempt (thanks to "The Count"). Tenuto is a back woods hick town that nobody seems to pay attention to. How does "The Count" keep track of how much Floral Powder to tax? Why couldn't Polka price match Mineral Powder, pocket the money, and say to the Sheriff of Nottingham "Sorry, I didn't sell shit?" Would he tax me if I charge people for Karate lessons? Sometimes J-RPGs make me confused...

I'm somewhere on Chapter 6. I was in MT Rock and my game froze on me. I was pissed..and I haven't turned it on since..lol I will tomorrow, though.

last i played i was in
andantinos secret cave
which is in chapter 2 i think
damn halo orange box and the rest of my 360 games distracting me from playing this

I'm somewhere in chapter 2, but Puzzle Quest has pulled me away from ES for the time being.

I'll be lucky if I finish it anytime soon with both GHIII and Naruto coming at the end of the month.

I just beat the game with about 25 hours clocked in. I'll probably be doing a second playthrough with the language in Japanese instead of English.

I'm only ten hours in but I'm loving it. It's nice to just take my time through this game - it's a good break from Halo or Orange Box. The music makes me sleepy when I play at night. I hope there's a soundtrack to go with this, or is there?

I got to start on a second runthrough of this sometime. I feel ashamed having only 120 Gamerscore from finishing the game :\

and there is a soundtrack.

cant you download the soundtrack off xbl?

Only 120? Geez, I'm in Chapter 6 and was beginning to wonder; I figured there'd be a big bonus for beating the final boss or something. I'd like to play through it again when I'm finished, but with my backlog, I'm not sure when.

if you just enter and beat the first enemy in the bonus area you can get another 50 AP. You can go there after beating the optional boss. You can get another 150 for finishing the bonus area.

haven't beat it yet, but
you should of beaten the secret dungeon the first time around. Getting Claves and beating the game with her will get you more Achievement points, and the secret dungeon is easier the first time around.

you could, but I prefer to see the ending first then go back.

DO the mysterious unison before beating the final boss.. it'll be much easier 2nd time through, trust me, it's already hard enough 1st playthrough and I'm sure your levels etc will be higher 1st time around as well...

After beating the game once, I got 340 achievement points which is the most you can get 1st time around.. So you're missing a few points there guy ^^

Ok, well I just beat the game last night. With my 340 points :)
But I'm kinda annoyed.

I loved this game, very much!! I really enjoyed the story, and you just kept getting flooded with characters!! With all of these characters having all sorts of purposes, it seemed like it was going to lead to a huge finale at the end.

But I was wrong.
I even went and resurrected Claves before finishing the game. Lemme complain about that real fast..(LOL). I liked the whole concept of this optional sidequest. It def added some more time to the game, and def was cool to get one of your characters back ;)..HOWEVER, I find it funny that throughout this entire game..every time you walked into a new area there were cutscenes. CUTSCENES ALL OVER. Yet, in this area..there were none?! Walking in to see Claves standing there SHOULD of been a cutscene..as it could of been a very emotional one. Seeing Rondo there too, could of been a perfect "LOL IM HERE TOO!!"..and then when you actually bring her soul back... PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT SHOULD OF BEEN!! It basically was *glows* Oh, my soul is together. THANKS! *Claves has joined your party* Just didn't feel very rewarding, IMO

I just don't get this game ending. The game started off basically with Polka being pissed because she can't sell Floral Powder. Everything is all taxed besides Mineral Powder and Retto & Beat are pissed about the taxes. They all head to Forte to complain..and Viola apparently is bored and goes with you..the 2 guardians of Agogo forrest are pissed because of the minning at Mt. Rock. And Adantino is trying to bring down Forte, basically. There was SOO Much going on.

So..why was the final battle.. THAT?
Ya know..Frederic
. They could of least made it more epic. Defeating Count Waltz earlier then expected was kinda lame..

Basically it went from everyone being pissed at taxes & mineral powder...to...Frederic getting mad? Polka jumping off the cliff..? WTF

If someone could explain what the ending was about.. Please. Do tell. I was so confused..as there def wasn't any closure at all with these characters.

Queston: About what level were you guys when you beat the game?

I'm on Chapter 4 and the game is hella easy. Level Grinding definatly isn't needed in this game. Kinda stuck on the Pirate Ship trying to find a key. Pretty annoying.
The 3 characters I mainly used (Allegretto, Falsetto, Jazz) were at Level 73 when I beat the game.
That's alot higher than I thought considering I'm 20 hours in and at an average level 25 with everyone.

My 3 characters who I beat the game with (Polka, Allegretto, Falsetto) were 83. Except Falsetto, she was about 77. Salsa was my other character that was 84.
My lowest level was Claves at 68.

Hi all,

I am somewhat interested in getting this title, but some of the reviews I've read/seen have sort of turned away my interest. Since you guys have obviously played it, is it worth the 60 bucks? How does the story, controls, and battle scheme compare to other RPGs like Final Fantasy? Any major letdowns with the game?

All of your feedback would be appreciated, as I'm right on the fence with buying this.

Keep in mind I'm only about halfway through:

I spent $40 for mine and for that price I'd say it's worth it. I wouldn't spend over $50 for it IMO. The story isn't anything grand, your typical JRPG. For the battle system just play the Demo. It really doesn't get anymore complex then it does in the demo. However the graphics are amazing, and it'll look even nicer if you own a good TV set.

Really wish I hadn't looked at the achievements for this game before I beat it at least once, since they spoiled a few big moments in the game. :wall:

Polka? wow, you were hardocre. My favorite party is Falsetto, Alfgrett and viola. I like just about everyone except Beat, he's weak, can't heal and his voice is annoying in japanese and English. Polka is ok, when you do her shadow combo attack it's almost a guaranteed ko.
I really like getting March, Salsa, and Falsetto together to get the combo meter up quickly.

No official support from Microsoft for Slovenia so I cannot wait to get to the Austria where I will buy my Eternal Sonata ... And I must buy new 360 I think it will be Elite version , but hey , this is ES topic. I am really looking up to this game ...

I was just prompted to apply an update for Eternal Sonata. Any ideas what the update is for? I didn't see anything on Major Nelson, IGN, or Xbox360Achivements, where I usually go for my 360 info, nor did I find anything with a brief google search.

I got that too this morning. No clue.

Anyways I just got to Chapter 5 and the story's getting much better. I'm 25 hours in and on an average of level 29 with everyone. I have no clue how you guys beat this game in 20-25 hours. Did you hit a warp zone or something?

I just hit chapter 6 with 19 hours played, and my average level is about 34. I thought I was exploring all of the areas to their fullest, but you have about 6 hours more played than I do, yet are futher behind. Maybe I missed some stuff....

I guess it's just the way I play RPGs. I tend to take longer than most people. I try to explore everywhere, talk to everyone, take lots of pictures with Beat, play score pieces. Also I usually set a level goal. I won't finish up a dungeon until eveyone has at least reached a certian level.

I had my doubts around hour 10, but the characters have become more likeable, and the story has imroved a bunch. So far I give it a B+

score pieces are pointless until the 2nd play through, you can't get the achievement until then. Those items are useless so the only point for them is the achievement.
I'm trying to beat the bonus dungeon. It's ok, but those pirates are getting on my nerves. I wanna get the grand finale achievement. It just gives me a reason to go through the extra dungeon
I beat Chopin at the end already, easiest final boss in a RPG ever.

YES! He was EXTREMELY easy!!!

What was the difference between endings? I did the special ending...what's the ending like if you don't do the bonus dungeon?

you did the bonus dungeon before you beat him, so it should of been easy for you. I didn't do it and it was still easy. I didn't watch the ending yet though. I wanted to finish the secret dungeon before starting a second play through

I just started this game (4 hours in and I just found Viola and the first Forte in Chapter 2). It's actually been pretty tough for me so far (experience-wise, not difficulty-wise). This is the first time in a long while since I played a JRPG, but it seems like I spend a lot of time sitting around watching cutscenes and expressionless faces.

Other than the fact that there are long periods in some cutscenes with no background music or ambient sounds at all (a big no-no in my book), they're not too bad...I just get anxious and want to run around and whack things again. The dialogue seems to be getting better though. The jumping back and forth between storylines that consisted of only two characters each was a total snorefest.

Does this game have another ending?
This is the easiest RPG I've ever played.

I have to agree with you on that. I can't remember one that's easier.

falsetto, claves and the other guy
could you guys tell me roughly how far into the game i am right now?
