Eternal Sonata - Gen. Discussion + Info
Just started the game a few days ago, i think i'm nearing the end of chapter 2, i just met
falsetto, claves and the other guy
could you guys tell me roughly how far into the game i am right now?
There are 7 chapters.
You still got ways to go :)

You lovin' it??

I should clarify and say that my time estimate is if you don't do everything you can on the first playthrough. If you plan to do everything you can the first time through *minor achievement spoiler*
You'll have to play it at least twice to get all the achievements
then I'd say you are about 1/6th of the way through. ;)

kk thanks guys, the game itself is pretty fun, and i do like to play it through to completion (eg. talk to everyone, find all the treasures) i tend to skip monster encounters now though since they slow the pacing down

still need to beat it the first time through. I'm trying to beat that bonus dungeon before I go on to the last boss. Accdentally beat the last boss, so I went back in the save to do the dungeon before I look at the ending.

I've had Eternal Sonata from Gamefly for a month...I still haven't put it in my disc tray. I have Blue Dragon sealed too!

Too many games!!!!AHAHAAHA

I just got this game today and I can not put it down. The battle system is great, Characters are lovable, and story is very unique and engrossing....I can not believe I waited so long to get this game, no wonder why its still $60, and not easy to find a used copy. What do you all think about this game?

Just bought this game off of ebay. Will it be the first RPG that I beat!? I hope so. It looks great. I tried the demo and loved the artwork and the fighting system. I just want to beat an RPG once in my life!!

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it on Ebay if you don't mind? I'm just about done with my second playthrough, so I'll probably sell it after that and it'd be great to know what I should be expecting as far as selling it goes.

I just finished chapter 5 and all my characters are currently 50 should I keep leveling up for a little bit at the temple or should I head out and level up later?

Wait, there is an alternate ending? I beat it before and after the bonus dungeon, and beyond an achievement being unlocked nothing at all was different.

I payed $45 luckily I sold Assasins creed for 41 so it really only cost 4 bucks.

Thanks for the info! That's about what I was looking to get, including shipping, so that is great news. Now I just gotta hurry up and beat the second playthrough...

I asked this in the Eternal Sonata thread but didnt get a answer so I decided to ask again in a new thread. Please use a spoiler alert for any spoilers.

I want my characters to be super powerful by the end of the game so I have been leveling them up. I just finished chapter 5 and all my characters are currently 51 should I keep leveling up for a little bit at the temple or should I head out and level up some place else? I want to try to find a good place to level up quicly at the templeand I can usually get 5,000 to 10,000 EXP a fight but I was wondering if there was another area that would be better to level up.
Is this game similar to tales of symphonia?
Based solely on the demo- Graphically it is, but the battle system is not. I can't speak for the story.

The amount of experience keeps increasing significantly through chapters 6 and 7, so you can stop power leveling. Just hit most of the enemies as you're running through an area and you will be more than powerful enough to finish the game. I think I was around 40-42 at the end of chapter 5 and I've had no trouble.

Started the bonus dungeon today. Should finish the game by 2am or so, then it's off to start the encore playthough. I want my 1000/1000! :D

So I went to the Mysterious Unison today...spend like 2-3 hours in there and got up to the teleporter to the 12th floor where you fight a certain boss (avoiding spoilers). Due to lack of supllies (rezing items), I lost. It sucks so bad, especially since the boss was near death and I got lucky countless time with my last person at blocking. Looks like it'll take an afternoon to beat it so I'll try again next Saturday.

I didn't have one of the Soul Shards anyways so I wouldn't be able to proceed to the 13th floor even if I wanted to. It's the one where it costs 99,999,999 gold. Even at 3 mil per fight on the 11/12 floor, it's gonna take a while. Oh well, at least next time will be faster since I'll know everthing about the dungeon up to the 11th floor.

Getting all that money was a bit burdensome.

And that particular location was the most difficult in the game. Once you beat it, you really will have no problem finishing up.

Yeah, I never had any problems in the game until I was around those floors. It's like throughout the game I was never near a game over, but all of a sudden you realize "Oh crap, I can easily lose if I don't watch out!" So I'm going back to town to resupply. Previously I was too lazy to make the trip and figured I could probably beat the dungeon.

I will also stop leveling up my characters I don't use as much. I was leveling those people up halfway through through the dungeon, but I think I'll just stick with my usual 3 until I feel like they're good enough and only then will I start leveling up the others.

Although I doubt I'll lose at the second attempt, if I do I'll be super depressed :whistle2:(

Exact same scenario that I went through. Buying the supplies made the fight much easier.

Eh, don't even bother leveling everyone up. Just take your good team of 3 (Mine was Allegretto, Jazz, and either Polka or Viola) and that's all you need. Just don't have Frederic in your party for the game's final boss fight, and you will be fine.

Going for it again tonight. Finished my homework sooner than I thought. Also getting Rock Band :)

Update: Failed again due to carelessness that's due to sleepyness. Will try again Saturday.

What level are you at? That boss was a pain, but I beat it pretty easily. Allegretto was almost dead at the end, but that's the price you pay for using Burst. :D

Oh this time was much different. I died at the 5th floor. Since I was sleepy (that's my excuse), I wasn't really watching my HP and just got defeated. I realized it too late into the fight. To kinda make up for it, I immediately went to the second floor and got all the chest so next time I can just zip to the 3rd floor without detours.

I'll give it another go tomorrow if I can finish my homework. At least this time I have ample supply & my people are 7-ish levels higher starting out from the entrance. Oh, and the people I plan on using are around lv. 60-65 at the moment. It should be considerably higher by the time I get that gold requirement for the soul shard plus getting to that 11th floor boss.

Oh yeah, I love burst too! :) Anyways, going to sleep for now.

Edit: lol, both my roomates came to my room afterwards at separate times and asked the same thing, "Did you beat it?"

Well I tried again today and it was stupidly easy. The changes from last time was:

-Only used 3 characters (Allegretto, Jazz, and Claves). I thought I needed a healer but turns out I didn't when I was fighting.
-Characters were around 15 lvs higher than last time since I didn't lv the others
-Only brought Angel Trumpets

The only person that got KO'd or was near death was Jazz, and he only got KO'd once. Now to run back down to by the Soul Shard and run back up to fight the lass Mysterious Union boss. I guess it's safe to use Polka now...

You can teleport back to the first floor from the starting teleporter for every floor (except 4 and 9, since they are linked to the previous floors), and you can teleport to any floor you've visited before.

You do know this, don't you? That post makes it seem like you don't...

I finished it a few weeks ago in about 25 hours, which is pretty short considering that I did run around explore quite a bit. I never got the highest party level and only netted about 120gp's for my efforts which is a little sad. I got it from gamefly so I might just pick it up at a later time to play through it again.

Overall it was a very fun and addicting game. What I loved the most was the battle system especially at the higher party levels.

Oh yeah, I knew. I think it was faster to go from the 11th floor to the 6th floor then back rather than warp from the 11th floor to the 1st then travel back to the 11th again.

So I guess that 11th floor boss was the hardest in the game after all. Though, once I had the supplies and stopped trying to level up everyone in the dungeon, it turned out to be as easy as the rest of the game.

Edit: Just beat the game. Confused. Read some interpretations; now slightly satisfied. Overall, it was definitely worth the money.

Ok, i'm stuck.

I'm inside Double Reed Tower, near the end. The guide says:

Backtrack down to the first floor and continue down into the Basement. Follow
the path to the stairs in the center and go up to the teleporter to Hourglass
Road. Enter the door at the end of the hall.

BOSS: Ruined Body
He has a lot of health, attack and defense but is extremely slow. If you're
a high enough level, this should be surprisingly easy.
REWARDS: Velmungdd's Lust, Hero's Crest.

I've been to both sides of the basement and there is nothing down there. Any ideas on where I'm supposed to go? I've wandered around for at least an hour in each tower and I havent found another mini-boss.

I think mine's broken.

I'm reading this guide and it says the sand fills the basement and it hasnt, but it's falling. Yet I cant go anywhere in the basement.

-Double Reed Tower: Base

We couldn’t get very far down here earlier, but since the sand has
filled the area, you can get to a staircase leading up. Follow it and use the
warp point to get to the next area.

-Hourglass Road

First, save your game here by using the save point to the left. Run north to
the giant double doors and go through.

Nm, found out where I had to go. Damn boss was hiding :(

what level were you at the end of the 13th floor? that boss is wiping the floor with my party
what level were you at the end of the 13th floor? that boss is wiping the floor with my party
13th floor: I was 94-95.
what level were you at the end of the 13th floor? that boss is wiping the floor with my party
13th floor is the last floor in the optional dungeon right? If it is, then the boss is super easy assuming you already beat the 11th floor boss. When I fought the 11th floor boss, I think I was in the low 70's and even then I didn't break a sweat. If you're talking about encore mode though, then I dunno.

When fighting rondo v2 and especially the last floor boss, you should only have Angel Trumpets with you in battle. Healing items take too much space and not worth it.

yeah I might just do that. When ever I do a special combo, viola is always healing anyway. I found out I sold the wolf chocker. Now I'm just leveling up and getting the items I missed so I can beat this boss and hurry up and beat this game.
It's ridiculous when you can beat the last boss on accident and then have trouble beating a optional dungeon in a game like this.....like I did.

I started the game sometime this week and am halfway from Chapter 4 to Chapter 5. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
A pain in the ass to need two playthroughs for all the achievements, but it seems to me you can get all the achievements on your first playthrough EXCEPT for the Score Pieces and EZI items right?
I believe the max you can get is 340 points in your first play-through.
Dang. Oh well, I'll stop my first playthrough when I reach 340. I'll probably replay the game down the road, when I have no backlog (and that may take a couple of years).
