I was just wondering about other CAGs if there is anything that they have ever traded away that now they wish they had back. It could be something new or something from along time ago.

The reason I thought of this thread was because of my own regret. I traded my Chopin 360 faceplate for a Sealed Mint Rouge Galaxy and it's guide. I really regret that now and I wish I could go back, alas I cannot.

Anybody else have their regrets?

Not in a while. Now in my old age I sometimes forget that I sold/traded an item and start ripping stuff apart looking for it. And then after a while of not finding anything it finally hits me that I dont have it anymore.

i wish i didn't trade in a lot of my stuff
back when i was young i let gamestop give me like $2 for 4 digimon games
plus i wish i didn't trade my AW:dual strike...

I sold the first God of War game to a guy I worked with at the time for $35 immediately after finishing it. I was kicking myself about it for a while afterward, because although I never go and play games through a second time, I really wanted to make an exception and give GoW a second go. This was when it was still a full-priced game. By the time it became a Greatest Hit, I had such a backlog I was trying to work through that I never did rebuy it.

Funny thing is, when I finished God of War 2, which might have been the last game I played on my PS2 right before I finally bought a 360, I put it up on Goozex, shipped it off right away, and haven't given it a second thought since. I enjoyed it as much as the first one; I think I'm just finally starting to learn to "let go".

regret giving my gamecube to a friend's son after I got my Wii, (his parents are doctors they can easily afford to get him a Gcube) but he enjoyed playing it so much. I actually dont miss the cube as much as the wavebird controller that went with it.

umm coming to mind.. my old PS1 rpgs I sold off including FFVII, Tactics and Chrono Cross that I can remember.

most recently, I guess selling my Phantasy Star Online for the cube for like $5 bucks b/c I didn't know there were still servers and a market for it.. until a week later hah

My:
Ar Tonelico
Ogre Battle PS1
Lunar 2 box of goodies (the standees, empty soundtrack case, Omake box)
Parasite Eve 2

for his:
Shining Force EXA
Thousand Arms (missing litho card)
Shining Force Neo (which got damaged from shipping)
$50

gosh i regret that trade now since the both games i got sucked, and the value of Ar Tonelico went up right after...o well, shit happens

The only one I regret right now is Vay for the Sega CD.

I might regret some of the sales I have done recently, but I honestly don't have time for most RPGs any more and I hate just having them sit there. To be honest, I am to the point where I don't enjoy collect games anymore because my focus is on DVDs (anime to be specific).

I regret trading away all of my Genesis games and a mint condition system for $2-4 a game(at the time) and $20 for the system. This was back in the day, of course, but I still regret it. Same deal with my original grey PS1, since I had about 40-50 games each for both the PS1 AND Genny in their respective eras.

I didn't have anything of any REAL value in either of those collections, but it's been harder to try and find and rebuy some of them(General Chaos for Genesis)than it has for others.

Sickest part of it all is, all of my stuff was mint/complete and the stuff I'm rebuying now is in deplorable condition many times by comparison.

Well, I am going to be selling some of my 16-bit stuff soon and General Chaos may be one of the titles. I haven't decided yet though.

For me it would be Metal Gear: Substance for ps2. I traded for whatever dumb reason to Gamestop. just recently got it ina trade with another CAG but it is game only. God I'm an idiot.

Selling my Gamecube library to GameRush for a hundred some odd dollars.

I traded:
(1) Eternal Darkness
(2) F-Zero GX
(3) The Legend of Zelda: WW
(4) Metroid Prime
(5) Pikmin 2
(6) Star Wars: Rogue Leader
(7) Super Mario Sunshine
(8) Super Smash Brothers

It's cost me almost more than what I received in order to recollect many of these games (who knew that Cube games were actually going to increase in value at the end of it's lifespan?

Believe me, if the internet actually existed in the form it's in NOW back when I was selling my other stuff, I know I wouldn't regret selling it all so much. However, I also know that most of what I had would be considered 'common' games. I'm still looking for Rising Zan for PS1, which I enjoyed, since it mixed sword and gunplay very well from what I remember.

Unfortunately, the deplorable condition of most stuff I find to replace that which I traded away just makes me wonder how little the people who owned it value other things.

Yeah, but it's mostly with trade-ins at EBstop & Game Crazy over the past decade. Looking at some of those receipts makes me wonder what I was thinking. One of the worst ones was when I was clearing out most of my PS1 games at Game Crazy. The highest price I got was $2(Resident Evil 2) and most were $.50-$.25. What did I get with that credit? Smuggler's Run(PS2) & Batman Returns(SNES).

Another one involved me selling a CDX w/ 2 controllers & 10 games for $20 shipped. Now the system alone goes for around $100. I wish I could go back in time & kick my ass for that.

I regret tradeing my ps2. I don't think he really used it I think he just traded it again. I also regret Saleing my first nintendo wii. That was a mistake I finally got another one though, and would't sale it no matter how much it would be worth. :D

I traded in a Gamecube, gameboy player and a bunch of gamecube games to Gamestop awhile back. I really regret that one. It's the main reason why I stopped trading anything other than flips into GS and the like.

Rival Schools for the PSX. I went through hell trying to find a pristine copy of the game, years after they stopped making PSX games. Never sell any of your gaming treasures-- I had to learn the hard way.

And to the OP:

If it's any consolation, I just put up two Polka Eternal Sonata/Trusty Bell faceplates for sale/trade. cml.

I traded two copies of sealed copies of Fire Emblem for Phoenix Wright Ace Attoryney back when it was rare as hell.

Why two? Well, the offer came from a guy in Mexico. I was desperate so I accepted as I was able to find them clearanced at some store (can't remember if it was Kmart or Target) for $7.50. He sent first, I received, send out the first copy. It was supposedly lost as he never received after a month. So I go and get another copy, send it out... again, he never receives. I knew something was fishy when he was bombarded with negs. I was so pissed... because I knew I was basically screwed out of two copies of FE.

A few weeks later, Capcom reprints it and it drops like crazy- a bit later, I see like 10 copies sitting at a TRU (which dropped to $10). What makes this worse is that FE now goes for like... $40 sealed.

I sold the Christmas Knights demo fro $5 back when I originally got it in GamePlayers... didn't have a Saturn so what was it to me?

Sold numerous mint/complete copies of FFVII for $15-20... and then a year later, Advant Children comes out and prices jump to $100. I found some resolve in that I had a incomplete disc only GH copy which I sold for $70.

Ugh, for me, too many bad trade-in's to count. I'll just say the worst.
About a 3 years ago, I went into my favorite mom-n-pop shop with a big box of systems and games.
Included:
Everything I owned from the 16-bit era. Which included an SNES, a Genesis, a Sega CD, and a crapload of games (including some SNES RPGs). So what did I get in return? About 10 crappy PS1 games. Now, mind you, this was before I had the internet and didn't know values of my stuff. Yeah. Worst deal I've ever had. But there's a semi-happy ending: I regained a Genesis about 2 years ago from the same place for $10 w/ all chords and 2 controllers. Then, about a year ago, my brother's now ex gave me a boxed SNES with 10 games (some of which are truly great) for free! Sadly, I'm still looking for a decent price on a Sega CD, they're just too expensive (i.e. usually about $40 shipped for one). Worst part? The guy who took all my stuff told me the Sega CD itself was worthless and he was just paying me for the cords. Life is cruel.

I have regretted it many times thats why I try not to trade or sell anything unless I have a second copy of it. The moste recent thing I regretted trading in was I was trying to get some games for my Wii when it first came out

I traded in

Mario Kart DD

Mario Kart DS

Animal Crossing DS

Metroid Prime Pinball

Advance Wars DS

Nintendogs

and all I got was like $90. I regretted it the very next day and promised my self I wouldnt trade or sell away games unless I had doubles. And so far its been hard but I have held on to that rule and now I am drowning in games that I havent got a chance to play but I dont regret it. :)

No, I only trade in or sell stuff I know I won't regret and items I bought cheap so I won't lose much (if any, and sometimes profit) so I won't feel like I got ripped off. I just can't sell a PS2 launch game like Midnight Club I paid $34.99 for at the time for $1 - $2 but I have no problem selling Stuntman for PS2 which I hated and paid $4.98 from Target for to FYE for $7.50 credit.

I have been really good about trading shit. The only thing that I actually regret is Godfather blackhand edition. That game was awesome and I never finished it, but I traded it in for some reason. Got 33 dollars in store credit though. Maybe I'll rebuy it for like 18 bucks.

personally i think you got the better of the deal and would love to found a deal like that

my biggest mistake probally selling off one of those singing PS2 games for 20 bucks now fetches over 100 ... I though i made a nice profit off it since i only paid a buck for it at kmart

that and stepping on my shining force cd for sega cd (even though the vaule has crashed on it)

I sold my nes when I was a kid, worst decision ever!!! The bad part is that i sold the system and 100 games for only $100. Dam.... thats bad

I never traded much into stores but I remember selling my copy of Secret of Mana when I was 14 for ten dollars (mid-nineties). That was pretty dumb.

Not trading but giving away or selling stuff when I was a kid. I've given away my SNES with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, Breath of Fire II and Legend of Zelda: LttP to name a few. I was young and my parents told me to give it away to someone since I hadn't played it in awhile. Then theres the PS1 RPGs I had that I wish I never sold. Black label FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, Valkyrie Profile, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, etc.

I hope remakes of these games come...

Traded a sealed GH copy of Final Fantasy Tactics PS1 for Radiata Stories PS2. eBay prices at the time for a sealed FFT were around $20. A few months later, they jacked up to $50-$60. :(

I paid $7.50 for FFT from the TRU clearance when they were getting rid of the last of their PS1 games. I eventually bought another sealed copy from eBay for $35, which was a good deal.

can you tell me where they got ripped on that trade though, maybe im missin something but i didnt think it was that bad

I generally don't trade things in unless I really, really know I won't miss it... in fact, I can only think of a handful of games I've actually gotten rid of: Lode Runner, Alundra, and Fighting Force on the PS1, and a handful of Sega CD games I disliked enough to not even remember what they were now. I've no idea if any of those are worth anything now, and I don't care.

I do kind of regret not giving my sister the $5 she sold my old PS1 to the pawn shop for... but that's more for nostalgia than actually needing the system again. And I still feel a lil' sad whenever I read about Christmas Nights... I subscribed to Game Players at the time and was looking so forward to it, but someone stole the disc out of my mail. I suppose that was a blessing in the long run- I was so depressed by the situation I gave up my plan to buy a Saturn with my Christmas money, and got a Playstation as a gift the next year. ;)
plus i wish i didn't trade my AW:dual strike...
This sums up the last year of my life :)

EDIT: Btw slidecage, I'm with the others on the trade under discussion. Poster came out on the bad end IMHO as well.

About regretting stuff. I sorry i didnt check my goozex list. I just got Monopoly Party for ps2 for 400 pts. Last i looked it was 150. I would of never gave 400 (wow when did monopoly party become rare. Last i see it was worth like 10 bucks. Around 25 bucks on ebay.) probally dump it there or relist it and eat te 2 buck shipping lost

This is not exactly something I regret trading, but still hurts the same. Back when Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn came out in the 90's, I was at a Babbages and saw it on the shelf. After reading reviews and such, I bought the game. After that, I saw the rest of the copies of the game (about 4 more) for a few weeks sitting on the shelf at the store, nobody seemed to buy them. Little did I know that this game sealed was a gold mine, which took me years to figure that out and by then the game was LOOONG gone. Its stuff like this that makes me wish there was a time machine, Marty McFLy anyone? :)

i dont really regret traing anything off. If i did regret it, I would just replace it, but so far that hasnt happened yet- actually i did that with final fantasy III for the snes, that is the only game i regretted trading off.

There are a few games that I broke the disc or lost that i had to replace, i busted the game disc for baldurs gate 1, fortunately it was easy to replace cheaply

EDIT

for the guy above me who regretted noy buying something, yeah i remember when castlevania for the turbografx was $50 at import stores, yikes.

I also remember paying $50 for new NES games, before there was funco land and whatnot, it seemed like buying from retailers like toys r us and circuit city and the good guys, they were the only way to go, and paying $30 to $50 for games like mario 2 and wrestlmania and blades of steel, i mean fuck, that just seems so so so silly. And dont get me started about paying $50 for an atari cart. well my parents paid for the atari games but the very idea of paying $50 for pole position or yars revenge or missile command, it makes my head want to explode.

No regrets, but I'll share my stories...

In the 6th grade, me and this girl in my class traded a GameGear game with each other. I only had three games so I was dyin' to play some new shit, ANYTHING lol. I let her hold my Sonic 2 and she let me hold Mortal Kombat II. I had MKII for SNES already, but I wanted to play it on the GG anyway.

Anyway, she ended up movin' durin' the school year so I never got a chance to get my damn Sonic 2 back. I beat the game already so I didn't care but I thought momdukez would kick my ass for even tradin' games in the first place. When I finally told her about it, she wasn't mad though. I actually still have the MKII game lol.

There's a few action figures I traded in elementary school with some friends that I wished I could have got back years ago just to have, but I got some sweet shit in return as well so it's no big deal. Good times...Sometimes I still think about my Iolaus (from the Hercules tv show) action figure though. I loved that fig when I was kid!
