Ever thought about making a porno?

The pron industry is a bigger source of revenue in USA then the mainstream hollywood movie industry. The sexual repression in this culture contributes to the need for vicarious entertainment.

This is one of those issues where pron industry magnates will sit next to the christian conservatives in congress. One wants to legislate morality over the airwaves, turing the USA into a policed state of puritan christian values (will somebody think of the children, etc, etc). The other is worried that realistic depictions of human sexuality on late night TV will result in a loss of revenue stream (wouldn't want Lucy and Ricky sleeping in the same bed...)
 
mine have all been private but I have been thinking about starting a business on the side in this industry for a while now. I mean it could be a hobby at first that might produce a profit later. Just thinking about the mutiple billions that I have dropped on videogames and other crap since Dec. 2003 when i joined CAG makes me think about how that money could have funded a small pron movie business. And thats just my videogame hobby. Imagine if I funelled the money from my other collecting hobbies into it.

Thinking like this does a diservice to all legitimate businessmen and woman in the field.

I think it would really depend on what the pictures were like.
I don't think anyone would take much issue with standard softcore stuff.
Of course, if you get into the odder niche stuff, then there may be call to be secretive or embarassed about it.
Of course, I having a feeling that someone doing a professional photo shoot would still end up better than the random assortment of women that send in thier photos to amateur pages in magazines... and probably be looked upon just a tad bit more highly.

If I could make good money by just looking good, I'd certainly do it (that applies more to a photo shoot than a porn movie, obviously).

Would you still feel the same way if you found out your photos were being used in a way you had not intended? After you've been paid, you forfiet the rights to those photos... so they could end up multiple places... are you truly OK with that? Don't take what these people have done and trivialize it that much. There is a definate wieght to this and a couple of difficult decisions people need to make if they are going to do this...

I was kind of assuming it was standard nsoft-core stuff, regular nude photos. I guess photos are a bigger deal since it is something material that can be altered or mis-used, as you suggested. Working at a strip bar would be something more trivial, to me.
 
This has been one of the most interesting reads. I to have had some skepticism and so far no one has went as far as to disprove.

But given the fact that questions have been answered with intelligent enough answers maybe thats enough.

I am curious as its a "darker" side of entertainment and I have always wondered what the behind the scenes are all about in the industry.

Regrettably, it's true, standards have fallen in adult entertainment. It's video, Dude. Now that we're competing with the amateurs, we can't afford to invest that little extra in story.....production value.....feeling.

never said I wanted to be a "filmmaker". If I did I would write out a script and try to make a non pron movie. I just would like to model my pron movie making business off of the best in the industry IMO....Ed Powers. He gets the cutest girls when they just turn 18 and this one time i saw him with the hottest 18 yr old twins, makes millions and it's amazing he's the ugliest most vile looking human being in pron. Who would wanna work for a company when you could do it yourself.
 
I've done private videos before and it was a humbling experieince. I was no where as slick and graceful looking as I would have thought

Interesting...I've been asked twice while out on the town if i had ever thought of being an exotic dancer. one woman (who was the owner of the strip joint upstairs while i was buyin' myself food from subway, lol) was really nice about it too, said that i had a really good "look" (yes, i know, she used "look" and everything, i think just because i look younger, i guess) and went into how they were very clean and safe and flexible with hours and such...
I contemplated it, sure, but just couldn't see being a strong enough person to put that down on my resume for future jobs, lol. and the thought of running into anyone in my 'real life' there made me shudder.

I was kinda flattered tho =P
