Finally started Persona 3... I love the art direction in this one... :)
How's the combat in this one? I felt that the combat in Devil Summoner is really what ruined it for me.

Neato! My new computer desk got here, so perhaps once I get that assembled, I can enjoy gaming in some place less ghetto. Having the mouse half a foot higher than the keyboard is surprisingly awkward for gaming, and I've never quite gotten used to it. No more of that or the ghetto appearance of the desk. More importantly though, I ordered my new keyboard and mouse and I'm picking up my mousepad today. What stuff did I get? You'll have to wait and see. Needless to say, my computer's setup will be pretty damn legit.
Yes, I still have that cassette.

I think it's time to give Yggdra Union a break. I've clocked about 10 hours, with about 20 hours of actual play time, been about to throw my DS at the wall a few times in Battlefield 16. Question is, do I go with another SRPG that I've got waiting for me on GBA (i.e. Fire Emblem) or finally open up Minish Cap?

I'm playing the "Let's sell more games on Ebay before I move" game.

It's a fun and frustrating game all at the same time.

Sometimes I find the energy to play a real game but more often than not I don't since Ebay burns me out.

I want to try ebay to sell, but it seems video games bring more monkeyshine and scammers than other types of auctions.

I gotta thin my collection though.

Almost 800 sales and I've never gotten scammed once.

I only exclusively do BIN's with Immediate Payment, however, except for rare instances where I run an auction.

it's not as bad as one would lead you to believe. I have also done about 338 transactions with no scams. Except for the one time I forgot to require immediate payment-- got a Nigeria scammer. I've also had a few smart guys win an auction then tell me I needed to wait 2 weeks until they got their paycheck

Still, those are very easy to weed out.

however it's totally ymmv since a buyer can reverse a payment at any time, for the most part.

I just beat Tomb Raider: Legend. I have to say, I was plesantly surprised by it. I'd never played a Tomb Raider game before, but this was a lot of fun. Certainly not the most challenging game in the world (especially since I'm not much for optional collect-a-thons) but I had a blast going through it.

The whole Excalibur story line was very cool and kinda mind bending I thought. Arriving in Arthur's moseleum was really neat. That water snake was annoying though.

Has there been an announcement for a direct sequel to Legend to kinda finish up that story line? I felt a bit like I had just beaten Halo 2 with the cliff-hanger. I'm assuming the team was working on Anniversary and then Legend 2 would be next? Or do the TR games all end kinda cliff-hangery?

Trying to figure out what to really get into next. RE4: Wii is tempting, but so is R6: Vegas, or MGS: PO as I've never played a Metal Gear game before.

I'm juggling 5 games at once:
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Secret of Mana
Puzzle Quest
Brother in Arms DS
and fiddling around with the import of Zelda Phantom Hourglass

Tomb Raider Legend 2 is in the works, just waiting for the first screens. Apparently it will have a new engine made for next gen systems.

MGS:pO isn't going to be friendly to you, daroga. The controls are rough and the gameplay is pretty unusual for Metal Gear.

I'd reccomend MGS3: Subsistence because I think it's the best in the series and the new camera adds so much to the game, but you don't have a PS2. After that, Twin Snakes.

nyprimus should post some impressions of Brothers in Arms DS, it looked interesting.

I'm playing lots of Chrono Trigger and Daxter. Also lots of Puzzle League. My girlfriend wants to compete with me, but it's not exactly fair matches..
MGS:pO isn't going to be friendly to you, daroga. The controls are rough and the gameplay is pretty unusual for Metal Gear.
Mmm, that's good. At least I bought it at the B2G1 sale and not a full $35. I need to stop just buying things on hype alone *cough*gearsofwardeadrising*cough*

What is messed up with the controls on PO?

Brother in Arms controls are good not great. They feel responsive enough and the gameplay is actually set up really nicely but its really easy. It also has multiplayer I haven't touched yet though. I like the way the user interface is set up, the guns are awesome too.

Still just playing that Ebay game. It's so awesome!

In all seriousness, I finished Summon Night 2 in 17 hours, started Tuesday afternoon, finished last night

Is MGS: PO not that good? I liked Acid, so I'm keeping Acid 2, but if PO is kind of garbage I'll just dump it. Reviews were really favorable.

Though my PSP will be getting a lot of love soon, what with Final Fantasy next week and Riviera shortly after that.

I love Portable Ops. I think it is as good as any of the main Metal Gear game. The control is bad since the PSP is missing a lot of buttons compare to Dual Shock, but I dont think it ruined the gameplay.

So my keyboard and mouse got here and I set those up along with my mousepad. My God... having good controls and a decent computer desk to play games at makes one fucking hell of a big difference. I am enjoying the fuck out of Tomb Raider Anniversary even more than before.

Also, my computer desk has enough open space for me to put my very-mini fridge right at my computer. W00t!

I've been playing way too many games:
Guitar Hero 2 Xbox 360
Resident Evil 4 Wii
The Godfather Blackhand Edition Wii
Buffy the Vamprie Slayer Chaos Bleeds Xbox
Pokemon Pearl
Age of Empires 3
and I just finished Quake 4 for the 360 a few days ago.

Reinstalled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. last night after having formatted and never getting around to playing it. Beat it in two 9 hour sittings. I don't think I've ever gotten lost in a game like I did in STALKER. The atmosphere was just so thick and moody, it was amazing. Loved every minute of it.

well it's not that the controls are awful, just uncomfortable. Shoehorning the normally complex MGS controls to the PSP setup makes it even worse.

like holding r1 and Square to aim in first person then using R2 to lean while aiming with the left stick.. that kind of stuff. And you can only carry 4 weapons on MGS:pO. From the little i've played, thats what I thought.

It's not bad, just not a good first game for the series.

I hope they port stalker to consoles. It seems like my kinda game.

Well, just popped it in. Yikes. I understand now what people were talking about in regards to having to claw the entire controller to do anything. It's even worse with the PSP, I'm sure.

I've come to the conclusion that unless using a weapon jumps you right into a first-person view, no 3rd person game should be lacking a lock-on system. It seems both MGS:pO and Gears of War had completely useless 3rd person shooting, and having to press or hold something extra to get into the first person view to actually aim is really cumbersome. RE4's setup is another option. Not exactly first person, but at least it's a over-the-shoulder-so-you-can-aim setup.

Time for MGS to go to someone who enjoys it more. On the old trade list.

Sorry to hear you didn't like it, daroga. I've got a copy on the way from a CAG(Hopefully) otherwise I'd trade you for it!

I feel behind the times because I just discovered Radical Dreamers (text adventure sequelish to Chrono Trigger/Beta version of Chrono Cross only available on the Sattelite distribution system for the SNES in Japan.. phew!) got translated.. I put it in for a bit last night and plan on playing it after finishing Chrono Trigger again. Then onto Chrono Cross again, if it runs okay on the PSP.

Anyone remember when they announced Chrono Break? Such a heartbreaker that garbage like Dawn of Mana and Dirge of Cerberus comes out, but Games where quality talent is willing to be involved with a plentiful audience like Chrono series get neglected..

Which is exactly how it worked on the PS2. If you hated those control configurations, MPO wasn't going to change your mind. It wasn't much harder to shoot people in MPO, only the camera was the biggest control obstacle because it's controlled with the d-pad while you move with the analog stick.

The 4 weapons thing is just a strategy element. You get to assign four weapons or items to each of the four soldiers you send out to a mission, so you have to pick the best items for the job and not just useless crap.

Daroga, MPO does have lock-on, hold the L button and it'll lock-on to a nearby enemy in your view.

I do have to say that I like how Rainbow Six Vegas does it's lock-on set-up, as you can tag enemies when using the snake cam under doors or sniper rifles so you can see their walking patterns along with having a simple lock-on.

Just got Okami and Gitaroo Man yesterday. I'm still playing through TR Anniversary, but I popped in Gitaroo Man and... yeah, it took me way too long to buy this game. It's fantastic.

I can't get past the stage with the skeletons in Gitaroo Man >_>
I can't get past the stage with the skeletons in Gitaroo Man >_>
That's where I got stuck... for a year, until I sold it to you.

Oh, I just got past that stage.

Favorite stage is definitely the one where you seduce that bitch with your gitaroo. The best part? The whore at the end who chooses that specific song to say "Ooohh Yeaaah" rather than "you win."

Yea there is a lock on in Portable Ops. It is pretty easy to get a head shot. You just have to aim up a little after locking on. I also enjoy the 4 items limitation since it force you to think about what to bring.
Just finished Gitaroo Man. What a fucking awesome game. 8th stage was definitely the toughest.
I beat it today as well. I liked the music in the 9th stage a lot.

My final purchases before I move, and as such, won't really have the time / desire / money to be buying games a lot:

Etrian Odyssey
Hoshigami Remix
Yggdra Union
Final Fantasy PSP
And if I do better than I expect on this Ebay stuff, Grim Grimoire

I'm sick of games being ridiculously too easy, so other than Final Fantasy, I'm getting some of the hardest games I can think of that are current releases. This sentence makes me sad because I wish Square would put the ass rapingly hard difficulty of Final Fantasy back in. At least I can finally clean off the layer of dust that has settled onto the PSP.

July brings me Riviera and Persona 3, August brings me Metoid Prime 3... feels good only getting 1 game at most. Gives me time to clear through my very small, but still there, backlog.
Just started RE4 on Wii and WOW is this game hard ^^
Tell me about it, I don't know if I will even be able to beat the chainsaw people in the first 20 minutes of the game.

As of know playing DiRT and Forza 2. And RE4 Wii.

Just started playing RE4 Wii...good game, especially because I never really played it before.

Anyone else picking up the darkness next week?
I'm definitely picking up the Darkness, though I'll wait until the reviews are up so I know whether to get the PS3 or 360 version.
With you on that one. If they are identical I will probably get the 360 version since I like the controller better.
With you on that one. If they are identical I will probably get the 360 version since I like the controller better.
They never seem to be identical though. hmm... if they were, I'd prolly pick up the 360 version for the XBL play, but if anything is better on the PS3 version and puts the PS3 version above the 360 one, I'll go with that.

Well, guess I'll find out which version I'm buying next week... not like there's an option to not buy the game since it looks so damn good.
I beat it today as well. I liked the music in the 9th stage a lot.
the 9th stage was really cool. Though I think the 6th stage with the seduction is my favorite.

Anyway, I'm a little disappointed that the Fry's ad didn't discount RE4 for the Wii at all. I was counting on being able to price match the game and pick it up for $25, but to no avail. Oh well, I'll prolly just suck it up and pick the game up alongside The Darkness next week. It's not like $5 matters all that much.

Man, RE4 is really kicking my ass right now. I can't even get past the first stage with out getting a hatchet thrown in my face. Also playing Stella Deus on the PS2.

After playing Gitaroo Man I feel like playing other games similar to it...but I can't think of any I haven't already played. Sucks there aren't that many out.

Just finished Tomb Raider Anniversary. This truly fixed Tomb Raider 1. It took what few good elements the original had and replaced the gameplay with something acceptable.

So yeah, go buy it. No idea how the PS2 version is, but the PC version was really good.

I have the PS2 version and I love it. I stopped playing because I'm stuck at the part
in the 3rd tomb I believe. When you move these boxes from under columns pillars come up and you're supposed to turn them so certain pictures are facing the door, but I can't figure it out

Well if you want to know how to do it,
You look in the various rooms that you can get into after moving those boxes... a few of them have a symbol near the top of the wall that corresponds to a certain pillar. Underneath that, there's a picture and you want to have that picture lined up with the line that goes towards the door.

Played through the first 2 stages of Gitaroo Mayng on Master Mode and yeah... pretty damn tough. I did finish those two, but I haven't tried the third stage yet...
