Eye of Judgement Discussion Thread

I have yet to see this game in stores locally.

I'm not too interested in the collectibility factor at this point either, just want to play.

same here... I'd love a decent TCG.

My comic shop has a box of boosters on order for me for $101 or so, hopefully will be in stock sometime in the next week or so.

You should call your local comic shops that sell magic cards and see what they can do.

Good idea. It'd be nice to have some rares, but I've already invested in 5 theme decks, so I'm gonna have to take it easy on packs until I've at least got the game itself. :)

I've never played a card game before, but I thought this sounded interesting so I went looking around for it over the weekend - all sold out at Targets & Best Buys around here!

I'm gonna try my local comic shop later. I've got a 20% discount card there, so if they sell regular for $3.99, i can save a bit.

Target never got the cards, and I've bought out all 8 of Gamestop's booster packs. So is anybody interested in setting up trades for common cards? I'm missing some, but have a shitload of others.

Toy's R Us has the cards.

Damnit, what was Sony thinking not shipping boosters and theme decks to retailers along with the bundle. I can't seem to find the cards anywhere, search every place that has the game and every hobby/comic/card store and nobody seems to have it. Damnit. Though this game is kind of making want to get back into MtG or Pokemon. Doh'

I've been to two TRUs and two Targets.

One TRU simply didn't have the cards. The other had them in R-Zone, inside plastic hardshells, hanging on pegs near the PS3 games. Boosters only, no decks.

Neither Target had them at all. Not in electronics, not in toys, and not with the rest of the cards near the front registers. There were also no empty pegs with EoJ info (like name or price), so I think they simply didn't get any yet. Only one of the Targets even had the Eye of Judgment bundle, and that was in the electronics section.

Hopefully we'll start to see more stock of both the game and the cards by mid-month. Seems like the initial launch shipment was really limited (compared to most new releases). Online backorder dates seem to be middle of November or beginning of December for restock.

The problem is, these types of games are usually sold to comic/game/card stores in boxes of boosters (no blister packaging) and decks. Most retail places just stock a few of these. Meanwhile, most card game shops don't carry new games like this because it's considered a video game, and they aren't aware it can be played without the PS3. Even then, there's still problems with playing this without a PS3 because starters don't include element tiles for the play mat, and some things just aren't explained well in the rules.

For example, attack zone diagrams aren't fully explained.

I wonder if us fans could demo this game in those kind of shops to get more players. But the second problem is getting PS3s into these stores.

The game is REALLY easy to find in my area... cards, not that easy....

Hopefully this changes within the next few days lol. (the card situation that is)

Amazon has the game in stock, but I'm locked into FV (per other threads, they'll verbally take your cancelation, but end up shipping the game out anyway).

Still, none of my local stores has this game in stock. I think the overall allocations were low, and clearly, depending on where you are the game supply may or may not be exceeding demand.

I'll be So Cal. in a couple of weeks. If Frys' or somewhere has some pre-BF/Thanksgiving deal on the game, I may just bite the bullet and pick it up if it doesn't ship before then.

I see the cards at target but if a place dosn't have them usually they only have decks and no boosters. Makes sense since boosters are more useful than decks down the line.

I was finally able to track down a Gamerush with an EoJ in stock. There was one flaw i didnt even think of until playing it. The whole gameplay is based on the player's honor system. Kinda sucks knowing that the person your playing against could just be sitting there with his entire deck in his hand seeking out the strongest cards in his deck.

the game is supposed to make you register the cards you have beforehand and it tells you which card you've drawn in an online match so you cant just pretend to have drawn the perfect card for the situation

You can do that to the computer but you can't do it on line... The deck is shuffeled and delt by the playstation during on-line matches.

That being said does anybody know where I can order Japanese Theme Decks? Also will Japanese cards work with the US version 0of the games? If not is the Japanese Text available for the US cards? Thrying to teach my wife the game but Japanese is her first language. A Japanes theme deck would go a long way in her understanding the basics.

Ah, thats good to hear. I think im gonna need to buy some more cards before i play online. I found a couple sites with some cheap booster boxes. Unfortunately, they seem to be OOS at both sites >

anyone have a pic of the rubber ducky that originally was at E3 years ago? I hope they make that a card.

also, is it worth it to order from family video? how fast are they and are they reliable?

My Toys R Us got more themes today, but no boosters to be found. :( I may by another theme tomorrow.
also, is it worth it to order from family video? how fast are they and are they reliable?
That's a tough question. My experiences w/FV have been positive overall. I've placed several orders with them and two were delayed due to their distributors (Heavenly Sword and EOJ). However, once they ship, the $.99 USPS shipping has taken on average about 3-5 business days from ship date, which is on par with amazon. In other threads, CAGs have reported that they tried canceling orders days or even weeks in advance, but still were charged for and sent the game--even with verbal or email confirmation of the cancelation.

Still, they've had some of the lowest pre-order prices for games I've seen. EOJ for example, came out to $59 shipped (w/new member $5 off coupon = NEWMEM5F).

I just received an email confirmation that my EOJ order shipped today, so hopefully I'll get it later in the week. Of course, I'll report back on how that goes.

I guess I can pass a recommendation on them with the caveat that you may have a difficult time backing out of orders/pre-orders once you place them.

Toywiz is a pretty good site. They've been around forever, theres a coupon code for $5 off $50, cabin;. No idea how much they charge for shipping though.

I went to my local comic shop, unfortunately they will not be carrying eye of judgment. I went to target and picked up a Biolith deck and 5 boosters. Got 2 cubics in the boosters, those things are great for summoning the high cost stuff. I got one ultra rare, "Exalted Elven Diety". Opening up the packs and looking for rares really brings back the nostalgia of when i was into Magic & Vs. System.

Has anyone seen much advertisement of this game? Seems like Sony/Hasbro/WotC is taking a quiet, word-of-mouth approach with the release. I might be wrong on this, but while it does makes sense to me to not spend a lot of money on traditional hype, this is the holiday season and Sony really really needs to push some new IP/exclusive game software content along side it's current "lower-cost hardware" approach, and EOJ is just about the only original, exclusive, "innovative" thing they have for PS3 this year. I might be missing the TV spots and other stuff, if they exist, but I also understand that this might be the right way to market the game itself as TCGs/CCGs are a niche market, but I'm just wondering if this is the right move for PS3 in general. I mean, EOJ seems like the kind of thing that could break the mold for a CCG and open it up to a wider audience. I'm not into the genre at all, but this game is something that generates my interest.

I saw it in a set of demo videos on a unit in Best Buy. Until then, I hadn't heard about it. The videos were set to cycle through -- I didn't choose it myself.

The demo video was convincing to me. I believe my exact words were " must have ".

But, apart from that, I haven't seen much. Um, make that anything. A preview in Game Informer, and a small one at that. That's it. It's been pretty low key, and the general non-availability of cards means its flying under the radar pretty much everywhere.

Even the product itself tends to be behind counters or off in different areas because of its size. If you weren't looking for it, you could very well miss it. Heck, I knew it was out and I still didn't see it in Gamestop until after I had paid for something else!

Really, this is a great thing to advertise the PS3 with, because its unlike anything else out there. And while it's a niche audience, it's a rabid niche audience. Maybe they didn't feel the need to advertise generally, since those who would be early adopters/big spenders would already know.

Still seems like a missed opportunity, though.
anyone have a pic of the rubber ducky that originally was at E3 years ago? I hope they make that a card.
I watched the video of it on YouTube, but it uses the same code as Se Hollyn Fortress. If it wasn't for that I would have definately tried to make one.

It didn't come out right in his post, but it's "cabin".

I checked and it does appear to work.

I can't buy from them because their shipping to Hawaii is $16.99.
Has anyone seen much advertisement of this game?
Nope, haven't seen any real advertising for it either. And most stores I go to when I ask about boosters or decks have no clue what I'm talking about. The only reason I know the game exist is because of Penny Arcade. And the only reason I got the game is because I used to play magic and pokemon and other ccgs.

Actually, ive turned G4 on at 3 different times of the day and they were showing commercials for it. Other than that, I havent seen many ads.

Sorry about the coupon code. It is cabin. For some reason whenever I open Netscape, my Firefox browser gets all screwy and everything posts in html code (i even have to type in '
' '
' to get spaces, since it defaults everything as one paragraph).

I'm hoping Blockbuster gets some boosters in, with flipping, they'd end up being about $2 a pack.

Finally got to play some this weekend. I had a blast even thought the computer beat me the first 9 games. My wife even liked it.

I haven't seen anyone post about it yet - anyone using the EOJ Card Manager?

http://www.eojmanager.com

The guy has been upgrading it constantly and it is pretty sweet - it will even help you set up trades.

Thanks for the link. Haven't even gotten the game yet, but should come in the mail in a few days, I hope.

I picked this game up a couple days ago and got a few games in recently against the COM, great game! :whistle2:D

Thanks for the link! :)

I may have to wait till december to get this but I will eventually (damn life and bills!).

oddly I saw at my local EB a traded in copy of the game only used selling for $49.99 but with just the disc. not worth it just for the disc if you ask me.

My hasbrotoystore dot com order of 5 theme decks shipped this morning, so I guess they now have it back in stock.

Lol. Wtf. The disc is worthless without the cards, mat and everything else that came with it. Damnit, hopefully some stores will have cards tomorrow when I go around looking for CoD4.

Bleh, it looks like those booster boxes wont be released til November 21st. I guess the cardboard backed ones are the only option for now.

Just got the game today. My first card based game ever. Never have really been a fan but this game just seemed really interesting. Played my first game and I have got to say this thing is going to be awfully addicting. I lost my first game mostly because I have no idea what I am doing, but once i figure it all out hopefully I can pull a win out. Grabbed a few booster packs as well. I still don't really understand the whole deck building thing but I heard buying the booster packs makes the game more fun. bought 5 packs and got a water phantom card.

YMMV- Went in a toysrus to the Rzone and asked if they had any booster packs. The girl looked on the shelf and then checked the computer and came back and said sorry they didn't have any. I go by the board games and looked by the cards section and they had had about 50 booster packs. I go back to Rzone and tell them where the cards were and they would sell better if they were by the game.
