Fable III Thread- Gen. Discussion & Info----- Let The Revolution Begin

FYI: I think that if you play the game for awhile in one sitting there's a memory leak with some of the quests/AI. I've run into a few issues where someone I was following just stopped somewhere and hung out, or the golden path was screwed up. Saving & exiting to dash, then loading up the game resolved my issues each time.

i also just got my l/e edition content... waste of $20. i exspected something cool like the hal's armor. nope its a robe, that looks stuipid.

I saw those codes going for around $30 on ebay. I havn't used mine yet, but if the stuff with it stinks, maybe I'll put it up for auction.

I accidentally bought that retarded dog outfit for $2... I went in that little room and saw the free weapon thing, so I downloaded that, and then I went to the next thing, and for some reason just assumed it was free. Right after I hit the button, I saw the number 160, and froze. I don't really care about the $2, but I can't believe I just bought a dog outfit...

i havn't gotten the weapon or done the quest, so i don't know about that. but so far from what i can tell it's a small area with a house, a treasure chest with the clothes, a dog potion (to turn into a boxer! that i do like) 150 gold buried in the snow, and another treasure chest with and arm tatoo.

You have to kill five people that love you. Not a good thing for my somewhat good guy playthrough.
Interesting, does the objective change as it says "Make 5 villagers love you." on my screen. I guess it could change after you get 5 villagers to love you and then it would say ok now kill them all lol.

I confused my weapons. I was thinking of the hammer from the free set.

Yeah the Champion Hammer you get from Amazon has a get 5 villagers to love you/collect more Guild Seals bonus. It's under a Red objective titled Heartbreaker and when this happened my weapon turned red.

Also noticed when I was in the armory that my hero weapons morphed due to my joyful family and the need to find many chests. Pretty cool but unless the damage scales I'll stick with my badass hammer.

One part of a fight a Hollow Man was running away from me as I flurried my hammer. Slo motion kicks in and I did one killer top to bottom arc to his skull/rest of the bones that just looked awesome.
so i can't progress further. i know it's because of the dlc that i got with the game. should i wait for a patch or just delete the LE dlc, and redownload it after the part?
The DLC is causing glitches?

So sad that this game didnt bring in my F2 character. I had a hard core evil guy I so wanted to bring over. In fact I think I like F2 better than 3. There were just more choices and it felt better. I did some co-op last night and there kept being this glitch where my co-op partner couldnt use any combat stuff. Magic, Melee, Gun. It was just a mess until the game decided to let him attack again. Also I hate when cut scenes look way better than the game itself. It happens a bunch in older games but loads of games use the games engine to do cut scenes, I like that better. Also so far it seems like its going to be hard to be evil. The game is fairly boring to me right now.

Beat the game last night. I wish it weren't so short (10 - 15 hours depending on side quests) and that the ending wasn't so underwhelming. Despite those flaws I still have no choice but recognize it as my RPG of the year (this year's releases didn't give me much choice). I doubt I'll achievement hunt because many of them consist of pack rat item collecting chores but I will start a new female evil play-through so I can bask in the luxury of completing every quest without moral worry.

Here's hoping any future DLC we get isn't overpriced mediocre tripe.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 more than I did Fable 2, that said have you played Fallout New Vegas? It is an RPG afterall.

A few questions for you...

I'm not king yet, but how much money should I have before I become king? I have about 200K right now.

Also, is it really hard to be a good king and NOT be in debt? I read over at GameFaqs some people are millions in debt. I don't want to do the gold glitch, so I'm trying to buy every business/property I can afford. Would it be terrible to raise the rent to the highest? I've been sticking with high for now, but I'm not sure of the consequences...

Thanks!

So you are saying you found Fable III a better game then Mass Effect 2? (I won't ask about Fallout New Vegas as really it is Fallout 3.5 with more technical issues)
I enjoyed Fallout 3 more than I did Fable 2, that said have you played Fallout New Vegas? It is an RPG afterall.
The problem with New Vegas is it is a glitched out copy and paste job poorly coded by the same studio responsible for the unfortunate abortion that is Alpha Protocol. A game which despite its obvious game play flaws did NOT deserve the lack of direction it received. Now because of said misdirection, Sega's unnatural knack for screwing up their own projects and the studio's supposed in-fighting the chances of its meager fan base receiving a proper sequel is beyond minute. Complete bullshit.

If Obsidian actually cared enough to test their damn games properly and brought changes that weren't purely cosmetic by design or too few in amount to win me over then NV would have barely edged out my nearly flawless experience with this game.

Why?

Because the honest to goodness reason I enjoy NV at all whenever I'm not stumbling onto my next game breaking glitch is because of the tried and true FO3 mechanics abundantly sprinkled throughout the entire game. If it weren't for that skeleton well in root I probably would have sold my copy long ago.

Sorry... I didn't mean to go off the deep end there. It's just a lot of developers I've had no qualms supporting have disappointed the utter hell out of me this year. Maybe I'm crazy not seeing eye to eye with the current climate of the gaming industry where quality control is apparently M.I.A. and the almighty dollar bill seems to be fueling most projects these days.

No gamer should grow accustomed to buying untested pieces of shit which is what I've personally been dealing with lately. I understand the need for creative expression, revenue, natural evolution and I fully support it. These days it is just becoming more and more of a challenge to see the end justifying the means when overpriced defective product is usually (at least in my case) the result.

Yep. No religious experiences or ticker tape parades in Bioware's honor to speak of here. Since I don't see much point in derailing the thread any further by delving into it here you can gloss over my post history in the ME2 thread if you'd like. X and I had a short but friendly debate over the vast array of changes that we didn't exactly see eye to eye on.

I still absolutely adore the lore (as noted by my avatar, location and signature) though which is why I plan to buy the third game for that if nothing else. Just probably not at launch and definitely not a CE unless there is some seriously epic collectors item I can't live without like a gold plated replica of the Migrant Fleet or a plushie set of the entire cast.

Yes. It is EXTREMELY difficult to keep all of your promises to your comrades and kingdom while not dooming at least 6 million of your citizens to their deaths. My initial play-through I went ahead with keeping all of my promises while steadily rebuilding, reeducating and bailing out the economy only to be rewarded with a ghost town of a kingdom who secretly hated me for letting it die.

The projections in this game are 150% accurate so if you really want to save your kingdom you are going to have break a couple peasant eggs to make that savior omelet. The few money making side quests that pop up WILL NOT be enough to make up the difference if you're saying yes to damn near everything your allies propose in court.

If I had a second chance I'd personally start off by increasing rent and tax to its threshold then focus on the cheapest promises you can afford. I think it is safe to assume your alliances are tied to the promises you keep so while keeping mine ensured ALL of my allies were there to fight with me during the end game I'm certain the opposite will urge them to ditch you. Considering the frequency of her requests Paige might be a little more pliable than the others so I'd exploit that if you can because a lot of her requests will KILL your fortune. Also the more bodies on the battlefield to distract threats the better so spare your brother for his soldiers if nothing else.

Since I maintained the current levels of child tax and abolished child labor giving my kingdom a school instead I would suggest turning the orphanage into a brothel. Estimated at over a million it is by far the highest gross choice of revenue you are going to be offered before the darkness invades Albion.

Always invest as much money as you can since you honestly don't need it at this point in the game. I think so long as you don't piss off your people too much improving conditions when you realistically can you'll probably get away with them hating you a little but not enough to call you a tyrant.

Good luck because you are going to need it. I'd scope out Gamefaqs again for more useful in depth advice seriously. It's not fun trekking empty streets and walking into empty bars greeted only by patrolling soldiers.

My lady became the Queen and I'm enjoying it so far, but I've been a bit hesitant to go any further in the main quest because I've been hearing about
the bad ending
. In the meantime, I've been buying up property left and right and finishing side-quests.

For anyone looking for an easy $1 Million Gold after becoming King/Queen:
The Demon Door at the Sunset House (the area at the top of the map with a house) wants to see you as King/Queen and the reward is $1 Million Gold.

That is an awesome tip. Thanks.

Well I beat the game but I guess I'm going to start a new playthrough because
Everyone in Albion is practically dead due to the fact I chose to be good and kept all my promises and in turn my army wasn't prepared that's not fun at all....I had to be evil to save my kingdom? What a twist.

Feels bad man.....

Yeah Adam Sessler over at G4tv says that the end game kinda crept up on him and he wasn't able to do some quests he wanted to do. I'd say before you become King/Queen do a lot of quests.
Does anyone know if the money cheat from Fable 2 still works? I haven't had time to try it yet.
Nope not for me atleast, whenever trying to launch Fable 2 whilst doing it I get "Fable 2 cannot be launched" This is the "free" version btw. I get roughly 365,000 gold per day on fable 2 since buying all of the houses, stalls, etc in Albion so I'll be patient so I can get the "property magnate" Achievo lol. Should get it in the next few days..

As much as im trying to like this game, im not.... Not too sure what it is but I really cant get into it... I find it a bore to play... Man I heat Fable as well... cant believe this...

Well Fable II had a few instances where it told you that you should do any active quests before you started the story mission/departed area. Kinda odd they didn't keep that with Fable III.

Did anyone else not get a coin in their LE? There is a space there, but the coin isn't in the box and i don't hear anything floating around (in case it may have fallen in between spaces)

What? You wouldn't need to start Fable 2 up, I mean do you still earn money while the game is off in Fable 3, because if you do that means you can turn off Live and set your console's date forward 25 years and BOOM! Instant tons of money. I did that like, 50 times in Fable 2.
how the hell do people have 6 million gold
If it works like in Fable 2, that's how ^

Edit: Just tried it, didn't work.

Not done with the game yet, but I recall a few times so far that they have told me to deal with any unfinished business before the next story mission.

I finally beat it by being a benevolent ruler who kept all her promises while also saving all the people. It was a bit of a pain in the butt, but I couldn't imagine becoming a tyrant. :bouncy:

Yeah, that got rid of that feature specifically because of the exploit since you could have cheapd the endgame with it.

Is there a list or pictures of the 50 legendary weapons yet? I have a feeling this is gonna be harder than the doll set...

Oh man I think it's due to my upgraded melee combat, or just the awesomeness of the Champion Hammer, but now I do a smash animation with my hammer that is just awesome. Aside from smothering an enemy's face into the ground I can smash my enemy into the ground so hard they bounce back up into the air and my hero does a spinning rotation hitting the enemy like a bat to a ball. So effin gorgeous in motion and hysterical to see a hobbe fly through the air due to the aftermath of such a forceful blow.

im getting a little annoyed by how the fast travel aint(Firefox spell check doesn't like aint) so fast in select areas.

hey can you fetch me this item
SURE
fast travels
runs for 5 minutes
finds items/gives it
returns
gets friend

Just started playing this last night, and I'm enjoying the story and the general Fable atmosphere, but I have to say, it's a little disappointing how the engine is completely unchanged since Fable II, including the constant frame rate dips. You'd think they could have devoted a little bit of time over the past two years to tuning up the technical aspects that were lacking in II. Overall I'm liking it a lot though.

Also, if anybody is looking to meet up and do some of the Live achievements, hit me up.

I swear, Jasper is like a damn crack pusher, "sir, I believe there are new items in the sanctuary shop..." I don't want the damn dog suit, hang it up old man.

Yes I agree, I checked the first couple of times Jasper told me new items were available then I realized it was the damn dog outfit. Really annoying..

Hahaha (On the friend/marriage posts above.)

Yeah I also agree it's annoying that Jasper is programmed to tell you what you already know with the Sanctuary Shop. They could fix this easily by opting out of the new content so your butler doesn't tell you about it.

This got a hardy laugh out of me. Right on. Love the game, don't love Jaspers crack-pushing. It took me a while to realize that I shouldn't get all excited every time he said that.

Agreed. Very annoying.

go damn figure, i blazed through the game only to find myself in a situation with some challenge only to rage and perfect circle my disc

it was after i became king and went into the secret hideout whatever and met that one guy in the jail cell. well i thought i could kill his 2 large minions. after 5 minutes i realized i should probably trap them into the other cells.
it didn't work out so well because i had no potions, my save kept loading me to the same instance, i couldn't walk out/fast travel. and i was getting punished. got killed and now i have to return this to blockbuster some how
