Thanks Opterasis for the info

God knows how limited this will be - but it's nice that you are getting more than a standard making of DVD.
Yeah...charging tax is the law, so, pre-ordering doesn't change that. MGS must have been a mistake of some kind.
While this may vary from state to state, a preorder likely is viewed as a deposit on the game and not a "sale" so tax isn't charged until you actually pick it up....I haven't had tax charged on my preorders.

I know that. :)

I thought that he was asking if pre-ordering exempted you from tax on the final price of the game...
So, does this seem like it will be limited? Possibly making a profit if resold?
I wouldn't plan on making any money off of it.

Indeed. Just plan on having a lot of fun - if you keep it. ;)
Preordered it from Gamestop, used FREE3DAY for free shipping(expires May 31 2008) + a gift card I had. Thanks OP.
I also preordered it online in case I don't pass by a Gamestop shop anytime soon. Except I used today's daily deal code MEMORIAL for free 2-day shipping :)

Depends how limited "limited" is. The Age of Conan CE (about 110,000 copies) sold out at just about everywhere weeks prior to launch and as a result i saw quite a few auctions fetching $200-$300. Found this funny since i posted when it popped up on Amazon for $75 and no one gave a damn and i even got a little flak since it was 'expensive' but thats besides the point.

I have to say that the addition of a Lunch Box, which is already a collectors item in itself, and a Bobble Head doll, dont hurt its chances. But like i said, it has to actually sell out before the street date in order to flip it for a quick profit. If it doesnt, you're stuck with it which, if you were going to purchase anyway, isnt exactly a bad thing.

The Big Daddy figure from the Bioshock CE, which also sold out prior to launch, also fetches about $50 on fleebay just to give you an idea of what the Bobble Head might do. Still though the game has to sell out, or its a moot point.

Basically i would keep an eye on gamestop. If they remove it from their site its a safe bet that its going to be a day one sell out so jump on it from some place else while you can, like Newegg or Amazon.

As much as I hate pre-ordering this from Gamestop (I have Amazon Prime so paying tax is against my principles), but the FREE3DAY code made it a little easier.

I have a 360 and a PS3, but I pre-ordered the PC version. To me, the PC version is always "definitive" for all of Bethesda's games. I think I'm going to throw down the gauntlet to myself to build a bad-ass gaming rig by October that can handle Fallout 3 and Obilivion with no problems whatsoever (the one I have right now does Morrowind OK, but Oblivion is pretty choppy).

Can't wait for Fallout 3!

hm... I hear this is an RPG. However, I can't find a SINGLE in-game video... video. I checked youtube, but all they got was a trailer and some screens...

i wish i saw some gameplay to get an idea wth Fallout3 is like.

It uses the Oblivion game engine.. so think that.. that's why to me, this will be AMAZING. WIll pre-order from gs.com since I'll be moving so I dunno where I'll be. How is GS pre-ordering? Is it pretty good? fast?

*edit*

pre-ordered from online.. thanks for the MEMORIAL discount shipping! Can't wait =D

The bobble head was given out as a promo to some media outlets last year, so it's a re-release of sorts. It won't be as valuable. It fetches a high price now.

I would count on this being similar to Assassin's Creed. It's not exclusive, so it'll probably be a little difficult to find, but not impossible.. It'll be at specialty gaming shops, like EB/GS, GC, possibly GameRush as well.

The only hard-to-find LE's lately seem to be GS exclusive ones.. Bioshock being the most obvious, Transformers being next in that line, then there's the holy-crap-why-did-they-make-a-limited-edition-of-this line, featuring Smackdown vs Raw 07, 08 on the PS3, Turning Point and Jericho.

As i said, totally depends if it sells out prior to the street date. AOC sold out and was getting a couple hundred bucks on ebay. Its since saturated with copy auctions but still selling for more than retail. The silly mount codes included with the pre-orders alone were selling for fifty bucks. I'd compare the bobble head to the Big Daddy figurine which sells for $50 IF the CE sells out.

I don't know......it is one of those games that looks good and the bonus stuff looks awesome, but I have never played the past games. So I am still debating. Can anyone compare this game with another??? Like how Shadowrun is basically Counterstrike without the magic powers amd stuff, compare it like that.

Note: I am talking about the Xbox versions of the two games

so is this a FPS? or is it 3rd person RPG like Mass Effect? I couldn't find ANY info but the back-story and a few screens like I mentioned previously.

(and.. what Memorial Day shipping special?)

The Fallout series was basically one of the first fully customizable turn based role playing games for the PC. It stole its character creation and combat aspects from table top RPGs and put it into a game. What made it special was the music and plot..hell the whole damn presentation was just done exceptionally well. A post apocalyptic world that you could essentially get lost in. In the origonal games you basically started out from a vault (think elaborate bomb shelter for a family), you have no idea what the world has turned into and you have a primary quest, on a lengthy timer, which is why you've left the vault in the first place. The beauty of the game was that in order to succeed you had to do side quests which ranged from quick to detailed. You could do just about anything at any time.

Now thats the origonal Fallout and Fallout 2, as far as this one goes, im guessing its going to be something like Oblivion meets Stalker. How that works out remains to be seen.

If you arent a graphics whore and have some patience pick of the origonal 2 games, you wont be sorry. The beauty of each game as well, and im sure with the third, is the games were connected but not so deeply that you needed to play the previous ones to know what the hell is going on.

well, the preview vid from both amazon and gamestop are the same, and it doesn't really show a whole lot. The collector's edition looks cool, but i'll have to see some gameplay footage before i decide to preorder it or not. Plus it's not out until october, so that gives me plenty of time.

When i pre-order my MGS4 LE, i was charged with taxes, so i don't think there's a mistake of some kind. Most likely the dude used credit paying the amount. Store credit is already taxed...
Dang, $80. But I've been looking forward to FO3 for ages and I would like that cola bottle.
It doesn't come with the cola bottle, sadly. That was only sent out to the press.
so those that pre-ordered online- has the cd/poster been mailed to you?
Preordered the CE today at Gamestop. The songs by Inon Zur are epic, and just make me look forward to this game even more. FYI, I don't think this has been mentioned, but the CD comes in a cardboard sleeve inside the DVD case. Can't wait for this game.

Cool, excellent, i'm gonna pre-order this on-line today or something. I need to pay taxes on Amazon orders now, so it's actually cheaper to order via GS on-line (rebates from fatwallet or something).

This game is going to rock, but I am still waiting for some previews of the combat system.

The Fallout name does mean a lot to me, as the first two are landmarks....I hope they don't mess it up.

Never played the series, but i like everything i read so far, i pre-ordered one from GS.com, they better give me the cd and poster!
