Fallout: New Vegas - Gen. Discussion & Info
What exactly happened to cause this? I had no problem completing that quest.

Finally hit level 20 and I still haven't made it to the strip. 11000 caps, great weapons, and I haven't even
confronted Benny yet...

I must be moving too fast, lol!!!
I thought companions don't run out of Ammo? Edd-E is no longer fireing and Boone has run out of ammo, but his equipped weapon from before dissapeared. What gives?
happened to me too so i gave boone an extra 357 n some rounds.. he used it til i went back into his inventory and added more rounds for his rifle and took back the 357.. but he hasnt touched a single round i gave him but has switched back to his rifle and been shooting heads off for a good 5 hours

who knows why

The fallout wiki says they have unlimited ammo of their original weapon but if you give them another weapon you have to supply them with ammo.

"All companions default weapons have unlimited ammo. If you equip your follower with a better weapon (DPS is checked) add ammunition and check its count from time to time - they seem to hold on to the new weapon when out of ammo or switch to melee instead."

I don't know if I did anything to trigger the quest I am playing the part of a pretty bad dude so I have quite a bit of bad karma maybe it's the games way of punishing me by not letting me advance on the quest line.

The more you play, the more you can recognize which quests are considered part of the main story. I just haven't done many of those quests yet. I've done a TON of sidequests, but not much of the main game at all. I think I've found about 85% of the map items though.

Once you've reached Moore's office there's a staircase directly to the left if you're facing her door. Take that straight down then curve right and you should run into the keeper. It was such a bitch to find I caved in and googled it.

Thanks!!

Yeah Boone's main weapon magically dissapeared so I have to feed him Ammo. Can anyone do a quick check of what Boone's pre-assigned main weapon is so I can get him another?

Edd-E's glitched for sure on my side though.
This has sold 5 million copies...daaayyyuuuumm!

Seriously? Assuming that shipped games eventually translate into sales, that puts it in the realm of Halo, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Gears of War, and Gran Turismo. I knew the Fallout series was popular but I would have thought it was a little more niche than that.

ok sorry guys, did not realize shipped != sold  video game numbers are so confusing!

I guess we'll wait for the rest of that, what, maybe 4 million (?) sitting on shelves to sell thru..

Fallout 3 sold somewhere around 6-7 million copies across all platforms. It's certainly in the same realm of Halo, etc.

I expect that FNV sold about 600k for the 360, 350k for PS3, and 2-300k for PC. We'll see eventually...

Finished Come Fly with Me and no issues. Hoping to decide on where I'll align myself before too long. At level 30, so no more experience for me. =/

What are the names of the quests, that upon completion, start in motion the end game quests? I want to get as far as I can, before I have to branch off for each quest. Going to be setting Benny free...I think, tonight.

I'm barely getting the chance to put some time into this. I'm level 4 and I helped the dude that was hiding out in the Gas Station and we all took down the Powder Gangers that were coming for him...at what point in the game do I get a place to call my own? I took over the gas station for now, but I'm afraid that my stuff will disappear.
His assigned weapon is a Scoped Hunting Rifle. Not sure if it is fully modded but that's it.
I tried putting in one with modded + extra ammo, I could not find the scoped item so either it vanished/sold it/or this is just another crazy glitch. I'm gonna go with glitch because I never sold any of the items he had on him.

Luckily I just hit 1000/1000 in this game so looks like It's going to be shelved till the DLC hits around Christmas.

Wow @ sales, so this might outsell Fallout 3 in the long run? Pretty crazy.

Your stuff isn't going to disappear.

I don't think I got a place of my own until Nipton, which was maybe level 8 or so for me. It's really going to depend on how fast you get over there and help. I am using that home and a trailer I have near Goodsprings as my camping points.

I was at my wits end yesterday. My game crashes everytime I try to get back onto the strip. I tried multiple saves, and entering the strip from different directions, but no luck, hard crash every time.

Today someone clued me in that this is a quest glitch I'm having. Once you kill a certain person on the strip, you need to wear his hat, or one identical to it, each time you try to enter the strip, or the game will crash.

So now when I get home I have to hope that I have one of these hats in my Novac safehouse, or that I can buy one somewhere, so I can get back onto the strip.

Its not crazy, FO3 was one of the best games out that year and it sold a ton of copies and was highly praised everywhere.

Any sequel would at least sell the same amount on name alone.

Thanks for the tip. I don't have much stored at the moment, but I was just curious if it was safe to keep using the gas station as a safe house until I get an "official" place of my own.

You could always sneak to Novac....if you can make it there. 100 for the Hotel room. And if you want, a companion. But I'm not sure if you want to risk it this early or not.

I've heard some mods are level based so if they don't show up you may have to wait until later in the game. Last I recall the Gun Runners carry most if not all of them so your best bet is to check them out. They change stock and reup on caps every three in-game days.

Regardless of the game's flaws I am very glad to see it selling so well. It gives me hope titles of its style, mechanics and caliber aren't as extinct or obsolete as many would feel or be led to believe.

I shudder every time I see a traveling salesman and his brahmin. Don't know if it's the same guy but every time I try to deal with one my game freezes and I have to reset my system.

Still LOVE the game though.

I meant to say Novac. Nipton will likely get you killed ::lol:
Yeah, you can try to sneak pass the Deathclaw in the Primm Pass, and you'd be able to get to Novac pretty early.
Its amazing how much of a pain in the ass these things still are. They really are my only challenge right now. I may go back into the Quarry and just let Boone shoot to his hearts content.

One of my current missions has me going to Nipton but I have yet to venture there. Last night I hit some prison that's surrounded by hills and I think its under control by the Powder Gangers...not sure how to get in though, I only found one door, and it requires a key. Guess its something I'll have to visit again later.

Yeah, even at 30 and playing on normal, a group of DC are still a tad annoying. With Boone and me sniping, it's usually not an issue. One might get close, and I'll nail it with the Supersledge. But if a group gets too close, it's reload time, because Boone and/or ED-E are definitely going to die.

There should be a guy named Dawes outside that door. If you're already vilified with the Powder Gangers, just kill him and get the key. If you aren't, I think you can bribe him to open up.

I just got extremely lucky in the Quarry. I was able to get up really high and scoot across until I was going to fall if I moved again. I was safe and my companions were bait. Did the same to kill the Mother and her babies. Glad I don't run into them in the wild all too often.

That is really the only downfall I've had to using Boone. He sucks in caves and buildings, unless I can block him in an area and let him go.

Whaaaa?

I go talk to Pete in the boomers camp. I ask him about their people. He says one paragraph and then stops, I wait a while and then leave. The second I walk out the door I am now hated and attacked on site by every boomer in the joint.

Whaaaaa?

Of course I didnt think to save right before walking in and talking to him so now I lose about 20min of game time reloading this entire section.

Just wait for him to start walking. There is a bit of a pause, then he will walk along the wall, with pictures, and tell a story. That's crazy about being shot on site.

Victor's shack in Goodsprings is a pretty good place to store stuff, too. It even has a bed and, unlike Novac, clean water. Novac is probably a better fast travel hub, though, given its central location.

Anyone know what the deal with Side Bets is? I completed the Brotherhood of Steel portion of the quest, but my only option is to leave them alone. Can I ever recruit them to my cause? Or do I just do all their missions and then leave them alone? Seems weird.

Also, is this the last Wild Card mission? I'm half-tempted to just ignore the other groups because I'm getting a little bored with the game.

What? No one was there. If I'm vilified would he had come up to me to try to kill me? If so, there's a few people that ran up to me on top of the hill, I hid from them and went to the front door...now I'm wondering if I just missed him.

Yep, that's what I used early in the game, too. Still have a ton of crap in that desk, I think.

HELP!!!! I've somehow pissed off the NCR and now I'm shunned, can I gain their trust again or am I just screwed now? Or does it really matter? I just got to level 11

You can get the status back, but it's going to take some time. You'll need to kill an NCR, get a uniform, and make sure you wear it around them. It took me about 10 side quests and I'm still not cool with them. I can walk in the camps without getting shot, but it's a real pain in the ass. I'd go to McCarran and do some side quests there. I had the same problem as you about 3 pages back in this thread.

Thanks for the info, do I really need to be friends with the NCR though? Does it really matter?

Depends on how much you like being shot at by Rangers and Elite Rangers... The NCR is a pretty important component to the game though and provides a good bit of back story in many of the side quests. Personally I'm doing every NCR mission I can find.

Damn, I was afraid of that....not sure what happened....thanks again.

You don't have to kill an NCR to get their uniform, on the outpost near Primm there's an empty tent, next to the lieutenants, get in and open up the boxes that they have in there, one of them will have an NCR uniform and helmet.

---------------

I ended up going to the Powder Gangers prision disguised as one of them got in without any issues and got the ex-Sheriff to take over Primm. I started walking around the place and once I attempted to talk to a couple people I was spotted and they chased me out as I wasn't strong enough to take them all out. Is there any harm in killing them all? I mean, is there a mission that would not pop up later if I do take them all out?

Killing them is actually a good thing, I believe. I think it gives Good Karma.

There is at least one mission associated with the PGs at the NCR Correctional Facility. I know, because when I killed the main guy in the admin building, the quest popped up, and I had failed it. It's a minor quest, though, with no achievement attached.

So, I haven't played this in a few days, and I really have no desire to. I must have logged like 80 hours of gametime, and I've done just everything you can outside of the city. Frankly, New Vegas itself kind of bores me.

Can you continue quests and exploring stuff after you beat the game? If so, I might just beat the game (being level 23 now) and finish exploring after I beat it. On Render Unto Caesar now.
