Fallout: New Vegas - Gen. Discussion & Info
If you've already activated Muggy's primary function, then
All My Friends Have Off Switches should still be an optional quest.

I know that you're a completionist, but
Muggy is not an extremely useful OWB item, especially if you're level 20+, or you don't need Energy Weapon ammo.
Thats the problem. I cant access his primary. I killed 101001010101010110101 and got the tape. Nothing happens though...
I like how the Gun Runners is going to have extra achievements also
You mean the Gun Runner weapon pack? If so, that's mega-dumb. A no-content (story) DLC with achievements would be messed up...

I dont care I love fallout so much

I honestly wish Fallout was like COD

and released 5 packs all with in 5 months lol

Holy crap I randomly played this for like 7 hours yesterday.

Got stuck fighting
that Legate guy with the giant sword plus all his minions. Had to reload an old save so I can go level up speech and talk my way out of that shit. Hardcore mode FTL :(
2 days..........
Excellent.

I finally beat OWB (and found out what the deal was with Muggy). Turns out that the basic tape for Muggy was on the back of a truck near the Securitron Deconstruction plant. I had the advanced tape, but never the initial tape. No wonder it would never advance.

LOL, that stuff happens to me all the time!

Speech is by far the most important skill in this game...which is kind of sad.
Can't wait till tuesday to finish up the dlcs :D imo the dlcs have been getting better with each one released, owb was so fun.

Has anyone heard about a possible GotY edition for NV? I know a listing showed up for a bit on Amazon UK, but I haven't seen anything since. I never got around to beating this or getting any of the DLC, but I think I will pick up a GotY.

After beating vanilla NV on 360, I'm pretty much waiting on a GOTY or a massive sale on DLC. I did a mostly good, stealthy, guns run, time to crush the Vegas wasteland with the Legion at my back. I'm also weird enough to buy the GOTY on PS3 so I can double up on trophies/cheevos.

if they GOTY it, they should do something special like put an avatar code in the package or theme or something

So after Lonesome Road the gamerscore comes up to 1530. Any idea how much the Gun Runners Arsenal will add to it? :p 1000'd the game a few weeks ago, and am waiting for a sale/GOTY edition myself but still would be nice to have a nice even number like 1600 or something.

I beat New Vegas for the 2nd time yesterday, this time with the NCR. I was originally with Yes Man, and now I'm looking at doing the Legion stuff. I'm picking up from my past save where I've already played for 20 hours and I'm around level 20. I beat the game the 1st time in 15 hours, and didn't like it that much, but it was a lot better the second time when I was doing a lot more side quests. I'm going to do the last few side quests that are achievements too. I want to get all the ones for damage, but I guess Boone and Rex have been doing most of the damage for me. Which reminds me, I want to recruit all the companions too... so much to do in this game.

I had Boone die...

...hardcore

Playing through Lonesome Road finally. So far, it's not that bad. Plenty of meat to kill and the new weapons are decent. I don't quite get the 6.5 that IGN gave it, but then again, they trashed Dead Money as well. LR is better than Dead Money IMO. The nail gun is brutal.
how are the load times when installed to the hard drive? better than not installed, correct?
It depends.

Fallout NV has an issue that I've noticed, where the longer you play, the longer levels take to load (eventually getting to where levels won't load or take minutes). At this point I have to stop, shut down the xbox and start over. Load times go from a few seconds to a few minutes over the span of say 3-4 hours...
how are the load times when installed to the hard drive? better than not installed, correct?
I installed the game and never had any loading time issues. Even last Saturday when I went berserk and wouldn't stop playing the game, the loads were never long.

Crashing still happened about every 5-6 hours. I cleared the cache and I can't tell if that helped but it can't hurt.

The problems I had with LR was it was very repetitive, there's a certain creature that is way overpowered, the story is a little nonsensical, and it was short. The armor and weapons you get from it are pretty awesome though so it was still worth it to me.

Oh and for the first time ever for me it corrupted my autosave data.

It seems almost linear to me, which is unfortunate. I've found 20 of 30 warheads, but I'm at Ulysses Base. The story so far isn't that bad, but I'm still waiting for the reveal.

Yeah it is completely linear. Don't get your hopes up on the big reveal it's fairly disappointing.

Sucks to hear the reveal isn't anything special. I still haven't gotten around buying it yet (still holding out for Gears 3 Season Pass info), but I did finally get around to beating OWB. The conversation with
your brain
was one of the most entertaining surprises I've had in gaming history. Then again I am a sucker for recaps and complete endings. I never want a good game to end so when it does I want SOME idea as to the whereabouts of my favorite characters for my trouble.

Okay Bethesda/Obsidian, all your DLC is released. Start talking about that "complete" edition or whatever it will be dubbed for this holiday season.

so...to those who bought multiple or all of the DLC, which ones were and weren't worth it?

Personally?

Worth it: Dead Money (definite minority opinion), Old World Blues

Not worth it (except for the loot): Honest Hearts

I haven't played Lonesome Road yet so I can't speak on it, but from what I'm heard it's a bit lackluster. I wish it weren't the last DLC. I'm pretty torn on buying the Gun Runner weapon pack since my NCR playthrough will probably be my last. I've done just about everything I wanted in this game squeezing out more than enough hours of enjoyment despite the glitches to warrant a full achievement score.

Best one is Old World Blues. I personally hated Dead money due to the stupid deadly speakers. Honest Hearts was just ok, and Lonesome Road is very Linear.

Wow...finally all the way done New Vegas + ALL DLC...

...I got very nostalgic when I went to where I place all the stuff I dont want and saw stuff like Father Elijahs Robe and all the other DLC gear

...hard to believe this DLC trek started in December
so...to those who bought multiple or all of the DLC, which ones were and weren't worth it?
Honestly? They all have their strengths and weaknesses. For me personally, lonesome road is the weakest. I used to think that Dead Money was, but it really made me change the way I played the game (which is a good thing). I felt like I spent no time with Honest Hearts, but it was still good. OWB seemed to drag on, but it was pretty solid. I can't really complain about them all that much however.

Anyone pickup the gun runners pack? Thoughts? 320 is a little steep IMO...

The only one that was worth the full price was Old World Blues, in my opinion. It may be the best DLC I've ever played (and I've played a lot), and it was more enjoyable and entertaining than a lot of full-release games these days. All the others...wait for a 50% off sale or the eventual bundled edition.

Gun Runners isn't worth 320 either. If you're near the end of the game already, you've got plenty of weapons that are just as powerful as the new GRA ones, and the challenges are more annoying than anything (and some of them involve characters that may already be dead on your current playthrough). It's definitely geared towards new characters, and even then...probably not worth 320 points. You're basically paying for some gamerscore and completion percentage if that's your thing, otherwise it's not worth it.

I have to say Old World Blues and Dead Money were the best. Lonesome Road was third best, and Honest Hearts was boring, and bland.

Thanks bud, you just saved me 320 points.

Honest Hearts and Dead Money are both on sale for 400 points this week. I may pick them up even though I heard they weren't good, because for me, Fallout is still Fallout.

Do it. Even if I thought Honest Hearts was a snore fest it's worth checking out for the loot. Same for Dead Money though I honestly adored that DLC. It delivered on all my expectations from the ridiculously awesome trailer. Old World Blues is the only other content that came close to surpassing it because the weaponry wasn't particularly useful or attractive to me and a few side quests along with the main storyline carried on for far too long.

If the servers M.I.A. in Gears tonight I'll probably start my Lonesome Road playthrough after I fire up RAGE. I really need to close the chapter on this game and Bethesda SERIOUSLY needs to officially announce Fallout 4. I hunger for it.

Not an Elder Scrolls fan?

Not really. My experience with ES spans Oblivion that's it. I wasn't impressed. I'm buying Skyrim for sure, but won't expect an amazing sequel like Visceral surprised me earlier this year with Dead Space 2. Fallout is currently the only RPG experience I have that covers every aspect of the genre I truly care about with near flawless accuracy. The rest have either changed to cater new audiences or migrated to systems I don't own or care for much.

I want Fallout 4 on next-gen systems. Make it a launch title and I guarantee that I'll buy PS4/Xbox 720 for whatever stupid price they might be.

What with New Vegas having came out not too long ago I think the chances of us getting another Fallout before the next-gen of consoles comes is pretty slim. At best we'll get Fallout 4 at the very, very end of the life cycle of the PS3/360.

Not the favorable option. Just make it for the next gen. Would certainly be a killer launch title.
