Fantasy Football "Who should I start?" thread, Version 2.0
Moreno was hurt in practice today and Denver has scratched him. update your line ups.
Beat me to it.

Who should I start?

Celek vs Jacksonville
Gonzalez vs New Orleans

I just picked up Gonzalez of off waivers but he hasn't done much (blame Roddy White). Celek hasn't been doing it either, though. How has Vick been to his TE in the past? Should I trade Celek and pick up Gresham from waivers?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but dump Gonzo.

For the past two years the TE position has gotten pretty even. Aside from the perennial studs (Clark and Gates), most even out. For every Shiancoe and Witten that gets reciever style yards, you've got a Vernon Davis and Cooley that rakes in TDs galore.

So don't go with Gonzo because of what he's done in the past. I'd look at Lewis (he's getting a lot of red zone looks), Gresham (he's getting plenty of targets, and I see them going up), Moeaki (kid is looking good and coming from nowhere), and Hernandez (Brady likes throwing to him, what more do you need).

Lol, Moreno just had to get hurt. Now I have to start Jason Snelling in his place and he's up against my other starter Pierre Thomas.

I'm doing horrendous in one of my other leagues. My team there, "The Divas" has Favre, Moss, and OchoOwens. Hoping for a 150 point week one day

CAG fantasy Gurus - I need you to help me pick two RBs for today!

LT @ Miami
Fred Taylor @ Buffalo
Brandon Jackson @ Chicago
Jonathan Stewart @ Cincy
Ricky Willams @ Jets

I was thinking LT and Fred Taylor. LT has been looking good, and I'm thinking maybe he'll start seeing an increase in workload this week and Fred Taylor is the feature back (although that may not mean much in NE) for the Pats against a weak Buffalo run D. Brandon Jackson and Ricky are facing tough run defenses and I can't see JS seeing a bunch of carries in his split role.

Choices are thin this week....I need some help!

two starts up for debate...

I can start either Ronnie Brown vs. Jets or Tim Hightower vs. Oakland (and wells will play)

also, in a flex postion... Jon Stewart who has done NOTHING so far, or Dustin Keller vs. Miami

thanks for any opinions!

here are my dilemmas for today:

Austin Collie vs Denver (also Garcon is out) or Malcom Floyd vs the Seahawks
Jay Cutler vs Packers or Carson Palmer vs Carolina Panthers
Tim Hightower vs Oakland (I have no idea if Beanie Wells is healthy enough to play) or Cedric Benson vs Carolina Panthers or Joseph Addai vs Broncos

thanks in advance for your help guys

some idiot (my roommate) dropped T.O a few days ago and I picked him up without having to use my waivers.

i was about to debate outloud whether I should start driver or knox but since I just picked up T.O....Well...I believe T.O (who has received the most amount of balls thrown his way) and Miles Austin will make a great fantasy combo today!

Am I right, or am I right???

I'd go LT and Brandon Jackson. I think Jackson is the best option overall, despite the tough matchup.

Until that changes, I wouldn't count on Stewart too heavily.

Wondering whether to stick with Zach Miller, who hasn't given me much yet, or go with Aaron Hernandez, who I picked up on waivers this week.

thank you kind sir. i think im gonna start cutler this week. his performances the first 2 weeks were solid enough for me to put him in over palmer

I'm going to give Miller one more week as I expect he's about due for a TD this week, but Gradkowski doesn't look for his tight end as much as Campbell did, so that has me a bit nervous.

Hernandez has looked great the past couple of weeks and should see some looks today as I think NE will primarily take it to the air even though Buffalo is weak on the run.

I'd probably go Hernandez if I had him.

Tough call. LT and BJax would be my choice. Both are essentially starters and you always go with the starters first. Taylor is not necessarily the starter for NE - Benjarvis may get that today. Stewart hasn't shown anything, yet. And Ricky is going against one of the top run-D's in the league.

Hightower. Beanie hasn't played, so we can't assume the splits would be even.

Keller. As you've said, Stewart has done nothing.

Collie. I like Floyd, but I like that Champ Bailey is not playing more.

You, sir, are right.

Miller is trustworthy with Grad taking the snaps. That said, risk versus reward is what you get with Hernandez. So if you want to risk a few points to chance several points, play Hernandez.
Wondering whether to stick with Zach Miller, who hasn't given me much yet, or go with Aaron Hernandez, who I picked up on waivers this week.
I'm going with Hernandez this week.
I'm going with Hernandez this week.
I ended up going with Miller, so that's probably a good call on your part.

Can somebody make me feel better and tell me there would have been no reason to consider starting Mike Wallace ahead of Colston and Nicks while Big Ben is out? This will be the second time in the first 3 weeks I've left a WR on the bench who puts up at least 25 points. #-o

I'm an idiot. Started both Mathews and Moreno in one of my leagues. Funny thing is I looked over all my teams prior to the 4pm games, don't know how I missed that one. Still in line for the win though, strangely enough, but it'll be a pretty tight one.

I couldn't decite my RB situation in one league. Debated between Foster (11) and Turner (18) who I started, but had to bench Benson (20).

Also benched Harvin (13) in favor of Floyd (15). I knew Harvin was against Detroit, but being how he hasn't done much, it was hard to start him. Doesn't matter, as I caught "The Night Ben's Pants Went Down In Georgia" with his pants down. 104 to 49.

My money team has been on fire these last two weeks (104 and 98 respectively) after putting up 50 some week 1 and getting killed. My starting roster was Vick, Foster, Turner, R Wayne, Floyd, Gates, Hartley (damn bum missing FGs), Baltimore. Had guys like Flacco, Benson, and Harvin on my bench though.
Of course I bench Tony Gonzo this week
League 1:
Did the same crap. Gonzalez hasn't produced anything, so I picked up Zach Miller (Oak) and of course Gonz manages an unbelievable day. At least Miller still gave me a good number of pts. Also decided to pick up Tampa Bay D/ST thinking they'd have a chance to pull off a bunch of turnovers against an unsure QB... boy do I regret that call. Still managed to pull out a win with Hillis leading my team.

League 2:
Eli Manning lets me down yet again. The only double digit people in play were Eli and Brandon Marshall. The 3 non-injured/suspended players on my bench nearly outscored the rest of my team (Ahmad Bradshaw, John Carlson, Mark Sanchez).

Carlson should start for you when you bench Gonzalez, he gets the most targets out of all the Seahawks WR. Look for him to continue to show strong numbers.

2 separate leagues. The league that has Carlson, my starter was Vernon Davis. The league that has Gonzalez, my starter was Miller.

While I'm on here, quick question. I'm looking at my players schedules and it looks like ALL of my wide receivers have the same bye week in week 9 (4 diff teams, so don't talk about diversity). Should I start looking for pick ups now, Or do I hold out for a couple waiver pick ups later on down the road? This is my first year with fantasy, so I have no clue what strategies to employ.

Yes it would be smart to pick up now. I don't know what players are available in your league, but the longer you wait the thinner the talent in the Wavier Wire will be. I picked Austin Collie up after week one, and no way I would have got him after week two. By week nine there may not be a starter for you to pick up.

How deep is your league? If there are only #3s and worse available on waivers, wait it out. Also explore trade possiblities.

Whatever you do, don't panic. There's no sense in torpedoing your team for 1 week.

It's kind of hard looking at Gonzalez and Hillis sitting on my bench with a combined total of 56 points. I started Celek (8 pts) and Deangelo Williams (8pts).

I got destroyed 68-123 because Gates and Mcnabb were my only players in double digits. My opponent had Brees, Boldin, Mike Wallace, Stephen Jackson, and Bradshaw in double digits. Hell, Brees, Boldin, and Wallace beat my whole team!

ill be bitter about vick the rest of the year...

my main league im down by 20, i have jennings and forte tonight, opponent has 2 IDPs (projected for 15 points). so i need to come up with roughly 35 points tonight... its going to be close, im not out but i dont like my odds.

jennings 120 yards receiving, 1 td
forte 70 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving, 1 td.

So my team finally performed this week and I got the easy win. Problem is, I haven't had my D score more than a few points each of my weeks this year. I drafted the niners D (ouch) and the Giants D, then dropped the Giants for Tennessee.

I'll start considering trades in a week or two when I can be more flexible with my offers (Barber, R. Williams, Harrison, and Holmes on my bench), but I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a solid value D. TN has some stiff competition on their schedule, and that worries me. I want a more reliable D for the playoffs. What do you guys think?

Is Cincy available? If you can make a list of available D's in your league I think all of us could help you pick one.

12 team league. These are the remaining defenses left in the pool...slim pickings

In order of 2010 point totals to date: Seahawks, Chiefs, Cards, Lions, Pats, Rams, Skins, Falcons, Bucs, Jags, Panthers, Giants, Raiders, Bills, Browns, Broncos, Texans

Kinda early but which QB should I pick up for next week? I have Romo but he has a bye this week. Three QBs that are avaliable that are starters are:

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Jets
Bruce Gradkowski vs Texans
Jimmy Clausen vs Saints

Ouch, that's tough. All things considered though, Gradkowski is probably your best bet. He's the best of the bunch (which isn't saying much) and he has what appears to be the best matchup.

Unless you have transaction charges or limits, you could always try streaming your D week to week. There's almost always 1 good FA matchup.

this is what i do (in my money leagues). you can almost always find a good match up any given week.

i had mike wallace on the steelers benched this week... 22 points... 100 yards 2 TDs... i started him the first 2 weeks he only got me 3-4 points. at least im still winning by 40
this is what i do (in my money leagues). you can almost always find a good match up any given week.
I don't think I've ever finished a season with the D/ST I drafted.
I'm (likely) about to be 2-1 with my 3rd D in 3 weeks. Though I plan on hanging onto the Bengals until their bye Week 6.

Yeah, Wallace was on my bench, too, and with our scoring system, he had 27.5 points (we give .5 per reception, and 2 points for any 40+ yard reception) I also had Jabar Gaffney and his 20 points on my bench (12 catches, 140 yards) while Marques Colston and Hakeem Nicks gave me 12.5 points combined. I still coasted to a 35 point win thanks to my opponent's team all picking this week to go in the tank (Miles Austin, Ochocinco, Hightower, Ravens D...)

Our first 3 weeks are always against teams in your own division, and I'm off to a 3-0 start while (depending on what happens in tonight's game) it looks like the other 3 teams in my division will all be 1-2. I couldn't ask for a better start than that. :D

Yeah guys good call. I tend to be a little fluid with my D's, but I've relied on more solid units (ie Ravens) the last couple of years, so its been less of a necessity. Think I might add the Falcons for the Niners right now, then keep an eye on the matchups for the rest of the year. Thanks

I think Seattle is a good choice as well. I rather have there D against the Rams with maybe no Jackson then the Falcons D against a Niner team that has a much better chance of putting up points then the Rams.

Yeah but they have more potential to score than a Rams team without Jackson. Plus Seattle defense has been pretty solid so far. With guys like Gore, Davis and Crabtree the Niners can put up points. I really don't see the Rams putting up big numbers.
