Favorite Final Fantasy game?
XII is easily the greatest FF title. With a non-traditional stance and somewhat sandbox style..XII is hands down one of my all time favorites.
i wish i could transform FF XII into a female and make lotsa babies ^ ^
You know, for some reason, a WHOLE lot of people hated XII, and with a burning passion. But I loved XII and its take on a new direction for the FF series. People didn't get it though, and thought that the gambit-system ruined the game, when in fact it helped reduce some of the tedium in the previous FF series battle systems and assisted the player in making real-time combat decisions. Sure the story was politically focused, which some players found uninteresting, and some characters were flat out dull (like Vann, Penelo), but overall the game was an enjoyable experience especially with the number of optional stuff to do later in the game.

XII was also one of the FF games that I "99'd" (without cheating), along with IV, VI, VII, and IX.

3 (6 in japan) was the best and is the best rpg I ever played.

Sadly its the last good FF to ever come out. Ever since they hit the cd format with 7 they started caring more about cg cut scenes, graphics and mini games than the actual game itself.

VI, or III here. For the same reasons as stated by others here. Gotta break out the SNES some day and play it the way it was meant to be played.

VI or IV for me. Classic and amazing. I enjoy the newer FF's but they are nothing like the older ones. FFXIII feels like FFX and it all feels like i am watching a movie.

As for XIII, I dont really like the decision to make it sooooo linear. There are no towns so far to interact with. I am about a quarter of the way through, so maybe I will like it more the more I get into it. But I like being able to go and do what I want more without being led down a "tube". That is why I havent played it more and finished it by now (had the game since launch).

7 for the memories..but 9 is probably my favorite to play. 12 looks awesome, seems like a step in the right direction for the series, just haven't gotten around to playing past the first bit. Also I'm a fan of 8 XD The whole drawing magic and GF thing is time consuming, but I dig it. The music's great too

The earlier ones were the best for me...there was alot more substance. I liked Final Fantasy IV (2) the best... followed closely by Final Fantasy IV (3). It was the first to have characters die. Also, loved the Kain betreyal/mind control subplot.

In Playstation eras, the only ones I have liked where 7 and 10. The rest were just terrible. Because of this reason, I haven't tried the new one.
VI - Great story, great characters, great music, the best traditional battle system, probably Amano's best work, and just so many fantastic moments.
Exactly my thoughts. By far my favorite Amano work that really seemed to come through in the actual graphics. Typically his concept art bares little resemblance to the in game graphics, but FFVI completely embraced his work. I was lucky enough to go to an Amano art exhibit when it travelled to my locale in Japan and not only was he there himself, but the majority of the FF work there was from FFVI. Amano himself said during the Q&A that the Terra/magitech armor pictures were his favorite. I've never wanted to drop 40k more quickly in my life.

The individual character storylines created something very unique in its day and to this day have never played a game more times through.

I liked 12 the most, it was rushed a bit for the story at the end (100 level tower) but I was totally immersed into the gameplay as well. I never got into the extra stuff at the end but I was still at a good 100 hours for gameplay. I feel 13 took a step back as far as gameplay and freedom. Final fantasy is all about changing the gameplay and immersing yourself in the game so open ended gameplay is a must for the series. If you remember the first ff game for the ps2 it wasn't that great so lets hope versus proves to be a better game.

I never played 6 so apparently that's the one to beat. Gonna have to give it a go. I thought 7 and 10 were the best. 1 was good but Dragon Warrior was better IMO. Couldn't get into 12. 13 was good but not great.
