Since they have an incredible amount of music over there, seems like getting some input from others would be a good idea.

I'll take your finest "Zeal Love" by Unipulator, please.

And you?

I like all the Tales Of Phantasia remixes, although it takes about 2 minutes to get into it

I thought the Friday the 13th NES remix was cool :D
An excellent thread to revive, though I have to say that I'm not much of a fan of the songs posted immediately before and after mine. I'll give yours a try tomorrow, Shini.
Rgr that :)

I shoulda started this thread >:O

I've DL'd about 2500 OC Remixes via Torrent to give em all a listen.

I'll have to go through em again to list my faves here ;)

Off the top of my head, some of the ninja gaiden ones and Guardian Legends ones I liked. Oh yea, some of the Streets of Rage remixes as well.

Estradasphere's Super Mario 2 received a lot of attention when it came along.

I had been following the site for years and stopped listening when it seemed to take months between substantial updating, but a lot of it struck me as indulging guilty pleasures than listening to objectively great music. Between the intentionally different feel of songs after remixing and the penchant for blaringly crappy synth effects, it all seems very ... personal.

Case in point: the One Must Fall remix. I couldn't listen to it in public. I have a hard time recommending it to anyone. I'm still not sure I'd want anyone to know I like it. But damn if I didn't get hooked.

Oh crap. I hadn't listened to that one, but the "Kizukaseru" remix by the same captivated me for months.

Just listened to Mach Rider, it's a fun song to listen to.

I just remembered what song I loved, it's Hammer's Garage by Neostorm

Is this the "And You Must Dance" REm1x? If so, to make you feel better, I thought it was good. Just listened to it, upbeat and energetic songs are my thing. Just plopped it in my PSP along with Hammer's Garage ;)

Gotta sift through my DVD back ups to look for all the songs again xP

Most any Donkey Kong Country/DKC2 remixes. "Ambient Gemini' and "BramblesInTheBreeze" are two of the best songs on the entire site.

Also, all of the Shadow of the Beast/SOTB2 remixes are excellent.

The "Track 1 (Final Nitro Mix)" from Top Gear is also tops.

They need a Space Quest remix.

I liked FF6 Terra in Black (Death on the Snowfield is a better version of the same track, though very different), and Chrono Trigger 'WhenAllHopeHasFaded'.

Bayou Billy - Trippin' On Alligators
Streets of Rage 2 - Go Back
Punch-Out!!! - Little Mac's Confession
Double Dragon 2 - Mean Streak on Main Street

I really like the Super Street Fighter 2 remix album "Blood on the Asphault". Check out "Tokyo Slapdown" (E. Honda), "Communist Jungle" (Zangeif), "I Don't Fight Boys" (Chun-Li), and "Wallstreet Monster" (Blanka) off of it. Everything is worth listening to, though.

Damn, this is one of the best on the site. I was really into this mix a while back. I want to play chronotrigger again. Even the basic midi's sound kickass.
There are some good Phantasy Star ][ remixes... Mamabrain comes to mind... there's another one too.. dang I'm at work, I'll look em up later.

EDIT:

'ere ya goes...

very cool with some bass.
I recognize the hip hop song in the background >:D

Aside from OC REmixes, I love a lot of the Japanese Doujins version of VGM (Chrono Trigger, some FF stuff, Guilty Gear, Castlevania, Ys, the Shanghai Alice games i.e. Perfect cherry blossom-Embodiment Of Scarlet Devil-Etc...)

I have just about all of those as well

Here's a song I love: Apparitions Stalk the Night [Embodiment of Scarlet Devil] by Sound Sepher

I'm hosting this, so be kind to my bandwidth ^^

The Super Mario Sleigh Ride I have bumped teh last two Christmas holidays.
There's a great take on the Zelda theme there somewhere. Give me a minute to find it...

Here we are. Darkesword's Wind Waker: Ancient Hero Remix.
Wow, this is a great one. Never heard this mix before.

Too bad it's so hard to make Zelda tunes orchestrated.....oh wait, no, it's not. Some kid did it with a computer and a synthesizer.

Nintendo.:shame:

Nintendo.:shame:
Darkesword has some good samples, not a good synthesizer. He's also excellent at manipulating them to sound perfect. For example, he often uses a sax sample that's almost hard to distinguish from a real one.
it makes me sad that people haven't yet mentioned the awesomeness of superbuckjazz by estradasphere. literally, the best song in ocremix history

super mario 2 - overworld BGM
http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00577/
that's a pretty neat jazzy remix :)

I wouldn't say THE best song in OC history, but it is a top contender. There are a lot of good ones out there, you can't really say one is better than another.

Although in the jazz genre of remixes, I'd have to say this is the best I've heard so far :) Almost reminds me of the Big Band concert they had for Zelda/Mario

keep in mind that it's just my opinion and valid only trough my eyes, but that's just what i think about this mix. you gotta love that big band sound!... oh and here's another one for the chrono trigger fans.

the incredible singing robot by star salzman.

good inside jokes about the game

Hey gigan, this is a track straight from the big band concert live cd.

Super Mario 64 Overworld Theme

They do a little intro, so it'll take about 45 seconds to get into the song

Yea, I know it's personal preference, I didn't want to come off like I was trying to put you against the wall.
