Busta Uppa is better than me at UMK probably. Also I'm a huge, huge Tekken guy, and I'm looking forward to next spring when I'm in Florida and will get to wipe the floor with Rolento in person ;)

My PS3 can't even sign into PSN up here, or I'd have already done it.

edit: Up here being my school (LHUP)

edit2: I'll post pictures later tonight or tomorrow. Anyone care to guess?

I'll give a few hints...
1. It's from a Capcom game
2. It's from a series that I traditionally play, but a game in the series that I don't really play much
3. It's a character that I'm pretty into, although he is slightly vanilla

if I told anyone before, don't spoil it

dude, I haven't been the DoA guy for at least a year! I'm not into anything deep enough to be the go-to guy, though I used to know a fair amount about DoA (not anymore.) If I still had a PS3, I would probably be pretty good at Tekken online by now. And if Melty Blood Actress Again has an online mode, i'll be there 24/7.

I consider myself casual-core. I've been playing fighting games since SF2:WW came out in the arcades (or Karate Champ, does that count?), I buy most of them, I get excited about them, I get decent at them, and I understand them well enough to get into their fighting engines, but I don't get a chance to play other fighting game fans or in tourneys, so I don't hit that hardcore level. Not that I really care, though it's kind of an interesting discussion...

and yes Jim, post the tattoo!

Yeah, I'm nowhere near hardcore. I'm more like a jack of all trades player. I just like to play fighters. If it's decent or better, I'll play it. Of course, the great ones get played way more. I played the hell out of Street Fighter II and especially Turbo on SNES. The only bad thing was that all my friends weren't good. So I'd mop the floor with them and they'd never want to play. I do have a friend that's still down for some Tekken and Soul Calibur. I go easy on him, but during our peak of Soul Calibur II, most matches were close. I still one around 70% or so. He banned Tekken 4 from his house (jokingly) after a night of 196 matches in which he won 12.

Right now, I mainly play VF5, Tekken 5 DR, CvS2, GG Accent Core, and Melty Blood AC, though I've been slacking on GG and MB lately. I'll also fire up some Third Strike, KOF 98, Garou, and Last Blade 2 at times. Just love me some fighters.
Markman: Tekken

Jim: SFIII/ MK
Asian: CVS2/ SNK stuff
Jekki: Guilty Gear
Chacrana: Boobs
Appossum: DOA
Bustauppa: SFIII
Depascal: CVS2/ VF5 wannabe ;)
Smallwind: Guilty Gear
gumn: Not sure, but I get a Tekken vibe
Guile: SF Alpha series?
Rodimus: VF5/ Most anything SNK
maaaaaaaaan... u guys need more 3S players tho.

I only recently started playing GG again, it's a real good game... but I'm still 3S all the way

Smallwind>> my problem is that it's hard for me to pull off a rensen jus like that since I gotta charge it... I canot run up to my opponent and throw it out.

hence I need to run up with something like K, S or 2K, 2D

but that is exactly the problem I am having, I cannot just run up to the opponent like that... rushdown is difficult with Axl hence why I can only pull it off after knockdown.

but I'm hella trying to get into tick-throws with him rite now also. Not only rensen frc... In corner knockdown you can throw rensen out before they get up and follow it up with chain spin forcing the opponent to block when they get up. Then RC it and throw them for 1/3+ life bomber loop.

Yeah, I mean't add rensen frcs after doing 2k,2d or whatever gatling combo. Some moves like 5S or 2H, when blocked or on hit gives you enough charge time for rensen to come out as long you are holding back or down-back when initiating the attack.

Ive got a Jin Kazama tat. Id take a pic but it would be with my shitty cell camera.

Also I am a DOA guy, I was pretty hardcore about it, but recently Ive just kinda stopped. Although I would love to play some more with CAGS sometime.

You've got to show that to Jekki.

Let me know ahead of time when and where you'll be. If all works out fine I may have a place for you to stay (though, my school break never happens in spring sadly).

Like apossum said, I consider myself casual-core as well. I'm good, but not as good as I wish I could be. My main asset that prevents me from being good is the fighting community I have down here in Miami. I use to have a group of hardcore players, but all they played most of the time were 2D fighters that really couldn't hold my attention (I remember for 6 months straight, nothing but Neo Geo Battle Colosseum).

If net code in Tekken 6 gets to the level of VF5, I can see myself getting better.

You'd betta delete that post before Jekki sees it. Cept that I quoted it so you're in trouble.

JEKKI might rip off your arm :)

Jim, take a picture of your Capcom tattoo.

Ok, so which one of you wants to tell me how to pull off a defensive mode for VF5? Offensive move too :D
Almost done Lei-Feis command time attack, but these are in my way.
EDIT: Now stuck on offesnive move

Whoa, you did have to pick the guy with 8 different stances.

If it were me (and of course I'm terrible), I'd be trying a lot of

vf5_right.gif
vf5_right.gif
+ K,
vf5_downright.gif
+ K, P K

Just because I want to do as much damage as possible before I forget the rest of his move set. :p

Well, Kage (backup Shun) are my characters, but they each have a couple moves I just can't do. I'm just trying to use somebody for the command time attack achievement (anyone know somebody easier)?

Eveyone's offensive move is the same. You sidestep and press G+P+K at the same time to do an extra long sidestep. During this second ss you press either P or K for an offensive move.

I actually just picked up CvS2. I like it but I wouldn't consider it my favorite game. I'm more of an old school SF, VF, and SamSho guy that just got back into the fighting games.

after spending a few minutes with the PSP slim, I can say it's an absolute must for fighter players. The d-pad is as perfec as you can get and is almost exactly the same as a PS2 d-pad. also the face buttons work better for sliding fingers between buttons (a must for tekken). Some time with both Tekken DR and SFA3 on the PSP proved it to me. I can finally do diagonals like nothing.

That's good to hear but my wife will kill me if I come home with another PSP before we get the Wii!

elementary GG:AC-- I'm actually a bit surprised they nerfed Jam's linkable specials in Accent Core. I think it's for the better-- makes me wanna use her "power up" move before so I can go back to linking them. Before I only used the power up on accident.

really? I like special linking... mainly due to the insane amounts of Jam screaming and me going spazstic on the d-pad.

yeah, no more "WATCHOUT WATCHOUT WATCHOUT WHOOOAAHHH WATCHOUT!!!!" The game is a lot quieter

hehe, caught some of the new Tekken vids. I liked the ones where the players were just messing around with the moves i.e. Armor King vs Yoshimitsu.

Man, that cab set up looks sweet.

When I was at the mall on Friday night, I took a peek in the arcade and they were listing prices of machines for sale. Even the used T5DR cab was over $5K. Jeezus, they weren't even very clean. Some of those machines were dusty as shit. It was all over-priced, IMO, but interesting to note.

Axl can do it too, but it's off screen so it doesnt look very flashy,

and it doesnt take any damage at all!

anyway, I think those vids I posted from Alabama not too long ago had a Jam straight up owning Potemkin... u should check those out.

here we go, 1:50 into this video:

Agreed on all counts. I've never seen Omega Red played like that before. His coil/power drain make anyone with low stamina cry. I have to say that Tony's Omega Red is pretty legit.

You gotta go to MGL sometime. Remember that guy I was telling you about, the one that Dan and I saw at MGL. His "random" team of Gambit/SonSon/Morrigan was taking down top tier teams left and right.
Can't play fighters on Handhelds at all. Never could, never will be able to.
Well, you definitly need to go and get a Neo Geo Pocket Color and play Snk vs Capcom on that thing. it'll change your whole perspective on portable fighters.

also, I didn't realize it but UMK3 DS comes out this week...

I've played it, and it hasn't.

I just can't get into them. I think it has to do with how quickly you have to input stuff in fighters versus having to keep your hands still while playing a fighter. When I use a pad to play a fighter I'm moving my hands constantly. Plus I can't play fighters with my thumb (can only rock the 2 finger method) and that isn't very conducive to playing handheld fighters (holding a PSP w/ one hand while trying to play it isn't very easy).

I'll try out UMK DS, although I'm disappointed that they didn't add like anything. They should've tried what they're doing with SSF2THD and added a rebalanced mode. At the VERY least, they should've fucking fixed the A.I. Horrible, horrible idea to keep the arcade A.I. intact. So lame.

Nice vid. That 11 hit combo at 3:40 was sick!!!

btw, what's a force break? I can never keep GG's mechanics straight. Game is pretty tough to learn, imho.
force break is guilty gear equivalent to ex attack in 3s
gotcha.

I just read the instructions for AC and they actually describe all the different aspects of GGAC's fighting engine. Nice work Aksys!

Wish the D-pad on my logitech wireless controller was a little better, it's basically a looser version of the 360 pad, argh

I just got it for 360, and I'll be up for some later, around 8 or so. I have some shit to do first. After sandpapering my controller's dpad, I can now pull moves off most of the time. If anyone else would like to stomp my ass into the ground, be my guest.

SDTEKKEN.COM Update!
Tekken 6 is finally coming to arcades on November 26th (Japan) and soon after in the US! Also, Tekken 6 will make it's North American debut at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida later this week! SD TEKKEN will be on hand with the latest updates from Namco!
Man, there's some mad fighting game knowledge being dropped at my school. In the last week, I encountered the following:

1) There was some black hoez that was watching TV, and a commercial for VF5 came on (giving me a hard-on.) One of the girls was like "oh dats dat Street Fightuh shiyyt") and she kept going on and on about how much she knew about Street Fighter. Sigh.

2) Somebody stopped by my room and saw I was playing VF5. His only question was why the game doesn't use the triggers on the 360 controller. That conversation ended quick.
Busta / Rolento /Markman / whoever

We should play some UMK3 this weekend over Live. I've been jonesin'
I may only be available during ridiculous hours, but if I see you guys on I'll definitely be up for it! Oh and if I don't use my headset, it's probably because my brother's sleeping. Speaking of sharing a room... I'll actually be moving out of the house and into an apartment pretty soon. I know others in this thread have relocated recently, guess I can join the club!

The landlord will split the internet connection that's already there, but I don't know if it's high speed. If not, I'll definitely have to add my own high-speed provider into my budget (think of it as a cost of living expense). And yup, I've already confirmed that I'm allowed to order my own internet/cable/whatever services. Would anyone here recommend a particularly good internet provider for a lag-conscious (and, now more than ever, money-conscious) gamer? Optimum Online has worked well for me at my parents house, but I wonder if there are better/cheaper options. I'm not really concerned about cable TV or landline phone service.

Does anyone have a list of changes from VF5 Rev. B to C? Or just gimme a rundown of major changes. Thanks.

Also, my 360 is so loud when I'm playing VF5. I'm used to playing it on my PS3, which is super quiet.

Well, in Quest Mode, my Kage is a warrior. Something along the lines of 197W and 15L. Tons of fun.
There are no lobbies in this game, correct? And you can't invite friends to ranked matches (which is the worst part)?

there's definitely no lobbies, and I'm pretty sure you can't invite friends to ranked matches.

Side note: Damn Azu, you're a warrior now? that's the same rank as me. I wonder how the matches between us would turn out now?
