Fighter Thread XXXVI - Oh go home, poopie pants!

I'm a 6th kyu right now with Akira. 9-0. Just started playing. I was up to warrior with him on PS3, but I don't remember my record. My most played characters between VF4, Evo, and 5 were Akira, Pai, Sarah, Jacky, and Aoi. I got up to high king in VF4 and Evo with Pai. That's my highest ranked character. Everyone else was 8th dan or higher, can't remember specifics.

I'm going to cook dinner, help a friend create a web site, warm up, then I'll probably be on VF5 around 9 central or so. If you want to beat my scrub ass down, send me a friend request.

I've been watching a few of the videos of tekken 6 that you linked and I a question(s) that you might be able to answer (all Bob related):

For bob, what is his command input for his forward and back roll seen here:

also, what's the input for his stomach smash and dragon punch? If I like what I hear, bob and miguel will be my first new guys to go with. I personally like how bob kinda hops all over the place easily seeing as I love to dash in and out alot.
 
Bob's dragon punch is CD+1, and his jumping attack into stomach smash is u/f+1+2,1+2. His rolls are FC d/f+3+4 and FC d/b+3+4.
 
Playing VF5 online right now. I suck. I can school the CPU all day, but against humans, that's another story. If anyone wants to play, don't be shy.

awesome. I still don't know if I totally like that, but when I play him I'll know instantly.

I'm kinda pissed since I can't find a single video of dragunov >_< nobody plays the guy (makes sense though... though I hope he's better in 6). I don't even know what his new moves really look like.

Nope-- est. ship date is 11/17 for me. I'm hoping that's just because SNK doesn't ship their games overnight.

They should stop delaying this game though, unless it's delayed until the next game drought. anyway they slice it, the game is being sent to die.
 
They just need to hurry up and get the damn game out, NGBC too.

Xbox Live is acting up today. I'm having problems connecting, but I've had some good matches in VF5 so far. I'm 7-15 right now.
 
So MM can you tell me how much they have changed Jin from T5:DR? It looks like he is still basically the same.

Anywho I want to get on and play some more vf5 if it was not for that damned controller in my way.
 
Xbox Live still acting up. It likes to randomly boot me off, takes longer to search for a match in VF5, and is just generally not cooperating. Yesterday was fine. Hopefully it's just some maintenance. I'm currently at 12 W - 18 L, 6th kyu. Online battles have either no lag, or just the slightest hint, but I still can't fall recover all the time. I can do it about 90% of the time offline.
 
I have huge doubts we'll see any good fighters show up on the Xbox game downloads :(



something I thought up last knight and wanted to see people's opinions:

You know how alot of game genres have borrowed the stronger elements of the RPG genre? well, what type of games could benefit from using the strong elements from fighting games? what elements would make sense.


probably the easiest answer is the realm of action titles. Ninja Gaiden had a good combo setup and a minimalistic reversal game going.

Man, I wanted to talk smack with Rodimus during the copious matches we played, but alas, there was none.

But damn, Rodimus has the skillz. I managed to win 3 or 4 out of like... 15-20. Wow. Lotta fun.
 
How was Live? I just tried to play Gears with a friend, but it wouldn't let us connect. We both tried hosting; no go. I'll be on VF5 for a while before bed, either online or quest mode.
 
Chac - GG, you're pretty good with Lei Fei, better than I thought. I actually learned a good combo from you:

P,P,...d+K,G+K

Not bad for mixing it up. You're the best Lei Fei player I've come across so far. Let's play again, next time I'll get my headset from by brothers place.
 
Yeah, voice chat adds a lot to any game... so I look forward to trash talking and seeing my player feedback become more and more negative.

Anyway, yeah, I won't claim to be the best VF5 player... my VF skillz consists of becoming like 5th dan in VF4 Evo, and 3 days or so of the 360 VF5 (barely touched the PS3 one, sadly.) But I wanna keep playing this shit and get better. I just gotta get a stick because the controller ain't cuttin' it and I'm close to breaking the thing.
 
I had to do the sandpaper trick to make it even playable. I ended up breaking the supporting ring that's under the dpad off. It's a lot better now. I need to make a stick, or just buy one.

Good games Chac. The last time I used Lei Fei for a decent amount of time was VF4. I tried reversing that one handed palm you kept doing, but I don't think it's possible. I could never reverse anything Lei Fei does anyway; he's just too crazy.

Next time, I'll bring Akira or Sarah.
 
we still need some tekken DR matches to go down... what happened to the idea of a tourney? if school wasn't so demanding since I have all finals due in the next few weeks (one of the perks of art college in miami), a powerpoint lecture on the abstract thoughts of life and death in gaming for my school, and work then I'd be glad to set it up.
 
I haven't played T5 DR online in a while. It was too hit or miss with the lag. I usually just bully the AI and have a blast.

We should set up a CAG room sometime.

I'm down to throw a tourney too, my interest in the game just died down though. Not the game, but the online portion.

We just scanned 27 pages from the newest issue of Tougeki Damashi Vol. 7 (WHICH COMES WITH 2 DVDS jam packed with fighting game madness! Including all games that were at Tougeki 2007!). We'll be uploading the 3D game stuff tonight(Tekken 6, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Soul Calibur IV, and Virtua Fighter 5 Ver. C) !

Also, the 360 VF5 just stuffs money down your pants. 50,000 G to start in quest mode is crazy. I currently have 104,000 G with Akira. It took forever on PS3 to even get up to 25,000. They probably did it so everyone can just hop in, bling out their character, then head online.
 
Thanks for posting about VF5. I forgot about that game for a second and I was gonna go study some economics, but... screw it. Quest mode time.
 
UMK3 DS is a really good port. Unfortunately, that's all it is - a port. Having the stuff on screen is nice I guess (especially for stuff like Animalities and stuff - the things you forget) but it doesn't tell you what range any of the fatalities need to be at, so in reality it's almost useless, and absolutely useless if you aren't pretty intimate with the game's finishers (defeating the purpose of it to begin with).

The on-screen specials are nice though. Haven't tried Puzzle Kombat yet, and probably won't for awhile (there are like 1,000 better Puzzle games on the DS). Worthwhile package though with a decent amount of unlockables (bios, endings, probably artwork - stuff like that). Good game but if you're not an MK head then I don't know that I'd recommend it for 30. I think this should've came out at 20, it probably would've been a hit. Or included MK 1 - U3.
