Fighting Game Thread 7 is bringin' da heat in Super Street Fighter 4, watch yourself!

New Mortal Kombat looks okay, but I don't see much difference from the past 4 games.

I was thinking about getting NGBC then I realized I don't want to submit myself to the endless Kyo/Robert matches I'll be having online.

Ggs to axc, your Abel is still as beastly as ever. I'm not maining Juri, it was just my first time playing her for real, wanted to see how she played in a real match.

Now all we really need is Rare to announce Killer Instinct 3 or a port of KI Arcade to XBLA at E3 & it'll be the 90s all over again!
rumor

but that's interesting.
DON'T KILL MY BUZZ GODDAMMIT!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Seems GameSpot has a sketchy history when it comes to E3 line-ups. I want to believe.

Rare is now just a shadow of its former self. Even if they did a new KI, it would suck.

EDIT: Oh yea, sorry about last night axc, I had just bought a new costume pack and wanted to see the costumes for the characters. That's why I kept switching last night when I wasn't playing Dudley, Cody or Juri. Admittedly though, I only picked Cody because I wanted to see his new costume too, lol.

Surprising you say that only because since SSFIV came out, I've only played Abel total (online, offline) maybe a dozen or so times. He's even more solid than he was in Vanilla, but I've been grinding with Seth lately.

Even with all the nerfs, I have to figure out how (still) I'll be playing SSFIV Seth. I think I let all the talk about Seth nerfs (and everyone else's buffs) in my head, so I play him a little more reserved than I did in Vanilla.
nah, killer instinct can stay dead. There's a game that I just don't understand the nostalgia for.

Graphically the game was pretty incredible for its time. I mean it kind of blended what both Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat were doing at the time into one game. Admittedly, it's pretty broken and I'm sure there would be a lot of hurt feelings/ragequits if it got released on XBLA. It's been forever since I've played it so I don't know how it'd hold up, but I'd love to see it.

Sad to say it, but you're probably right. Even KI2 was kind of eh compared to the original.

I had a harder time with your Abel than I did your Seth. Sorry about earlier, but I was already in a room playing option, I tried to invite you.
GGs AxC, I didn't know what to do when your Abel went into overdrive.
GG's to you too Beef. Sorry I left abruptly, a couple of my friends called up to do a session up North, so we all drove out to play until 3AM.

It's weird that you say that too about my Abel. Mostly because I honestly haven't played him serious in months. I was pretty much playing both Seth and Abel on the same level for a while, until I heard about Seth's nerfs and was determined to find out a new way to play him to fit my playstyle in Super.

Also it was all testing, but if Abel's s.mp is that good against T.Hawk, I might have to use it often. It was worked decently against Zangief's lariat (at Max Range) in Vanila and was a decent poke against Gief. Against Hawk, it looked like it was an even better poke, stuffing out a lot of stuff (trading in Abel's favor when trading with Condor Dive?) but obviously not EX Spire.

Also.........please play more Vega. Your Vega is too solid.

It's all good. I just thought you had a problem with your connection :)

Thing about my Seth online, is I honestly don't even attempt a lot of his combos online because I drop all of them due to lag. What then happens, is it makes my Seth more one dimensional because then I can't punish as hard or lay down as much pressure.

With Abel (at least online) I can keep things simple, keep jumping to a minimum and keep all my normals tight, keep pressure and it gets annoying quick.

I actually played an Abel/Seth player I didn't know tonight at a session I went to. He was a little cocky after he beat me in 1 Abel Mirror. He then saw I played Seth, telling me he did too, wanted to mirror. I went 5-0 in the Seth Mirror.

I guess he was a pad player because he said he would've had all the matches if he wasn't playing on stick. His Abel and Seth were looking fine with him using a stick. Also he played by hommie's Honda on a pad and got raped 3-0. Ughhhhh

wow, the SFIV Fightpads are so much worse on the PS3 (sorry, mm.) Wireless controller lag + natural online lag = lag lag lag. And this may be because there's a table and a bunch of stuff between me and the wireless receiver, but I kept having little hiccups of unresponsiveness. Kind of a shame, I love the 360 pad...

SO ANYONE WANNA BUY A PS3 AKUMA FIGHTPAD? It's really awesome! I'm just selling it because I don't have enough room in my apartment for it and i'm allergic.

Switched the PS3 controller and finally won some matches. Those air cannon strikes come out like nothing on the PS3 pad.

And I haven't touched Vega too often, kinda like how you haven't used Abel in a while. Of course, this is because I've been putting all of my time into Ibuki, and it's been paying off little by little.
there's no lag on wireless
Boom, roasted.

btw, there's no lag on the PS3 wireless fightpad, I've tested this numerous times.

more than likely it's the wireless receiver thats acting up, or batteries (i dont think you'd put old batteries in there though).

Well, whatever it is, my controller was funky. but those cannon strikes come out even better than on my 360 fightpad, so i might be fallin' in like with the dualshock 3.
I don't want to give you any money because I know you'll just spend it on gay, but you have SSFIV for the PS3 now?
Yep. no bluetoof headset though. but i play online all the time.

they say that the timing is different across from ps3 and 360 versions. i've heard 1-frame but who knows, it could be anything in between

Good games to option and axc. Sorry blitz, I was already in game with axc. I told you to ask axc for an invite, but you left.

One that had me laughing - J.mp with dictator, executed U2... nothing. axc follows it up with his j.mp... juri's U2 connects. lol fuck

beastly juri j.mp

Oh, well I've only fought him like... once or twice since SSFIV came out, lol.

All good. Every time i play endless, i lose to scrubs for some reason. I do much better in ranked for some reason. I won ~10+ ranked matches in a row today with rog.

GG's to Esper. Your Viper was looking good for all the input lag that you naturally get in online play.

Yea, I'll play Juri now and then. She's fun but almost too much of a zoning character for my tastes.

Also heads up to anyone who will be at home today, one of my friends (who is also in my crew) is throwing a tournament today starting at 1-1:30pm (PST) in our area. MarkMan graciously put up 4 TE S Series sticks for us to give to the Top 3 placers and one to raffle off if you enter. Thank you so much.

If anyone wants to watch the stream, it should be up on Iplaywinner.com when it's live, through Ustream. I was asked by my buddy to help with commentary all through the tournament, so if you want to hear utter and complete (sort of) random talk, jump on the stream and have fun!!

North Bay, CA SSFIV Tournament Stream: Starts @ 1-1:30pm (PST) TODAY

No prob! Hope you guys had a good time.

I think we have between 7-10 rooms of 4 people booked so far. A few people are staying in another hotel because of family hookups, and I'm staying in the fgt room. So right now we're sitting on about 30?

There may be more or less, but we'll see in a couple of weeks

Damn me for not checking this thread yesterday, wish I saw there was going to be a tourney in the Bay, it would have been fun to watch. Axc, what city in the bay are you from?

that swag bag looks awesome, including the T-shirt

I'm not sure i really care about a "slim" 360. Like we need more people running wireless connections so your SSFIV lags even more so

Novato. The tournament was held in San Rafael. First North Bay tourney in over a year and a half.

The matches that were put on stream were all recorded that day, so you can watch them here (two parts). We tried to put all the best matches of the day on the setup that was connected to the stream.
