I want to get SCIV as planned...

.....but I'm busy as shit and I know I wouldn't have any time to play it :(

MarkMan what makes the 360 version superior? I'm looking to get the PS3 version because of PS2 stick support
I picked up VF5 for ps3 for $15 used at eb games yesterday.
return it. $20 new for 360 at TRU. it's the more beefy more ballanced version as well.

Soul Calibur is dumb so far... it's alrite but the game feels very unfulfilling... like the time I ate mediterranean food...

I mean... Seung Mina in panties is cool, but it's not like u can touch her or anything...

Yeah, just to clear that up, he was hella jokin'.

Yes yesterday, I picked it up for 14.99 used 10% off with card. $15 with tax, plus I needed another ps3 game and fighting online is not priority b/c of lag and ps3 d-pad is better

Asian - If you're tryin to buy a copy in a week or two, let me know. I might be willing to let mine go. I agree with Jekki, it's just dumb for some reason.

Haven't gotten into it.

I know everyone's playing SCIV but I went old school and picked up a copy of FF Mark of the Wolves (DC) in a trade here. I don't know what it is but it's easier than the PS2 version. Is it just that the Japanese ratchet up the difficulty because everyone over there plays the hell out of 2D fighters? I play both versions on the default difficulty of 3. Also, B. Jenet is my main so it's not like I've switched characters between the versions.

No way. Church's Chicken is amazing. I thought it was only a Michigan thing since I always had it when I was back home. There's a couple in Berkeley, California which I'm psyched about. Fried Chicken clogs the soul.

I'll definitely let you know. I want to get it, but as I mentioned I don't know how much time I'd devote to it. Also every time I think about getting SCIV, I think about getting Battle Fantasia, Sengoku and KOF UM through import instead.
It looks like fubarduck is opening a new Arcade in Austin. Thats wild stuff.
Yes sir, it seems like it's going to be AWESOME.

Really?

I haven't been this into a fighting game since the original Soul Calibur's mission mode.

The Tower of Souls, character customization, and fighting online against you and your buddie's crazy CAS characters is a lot of fun.

I needa try Tower of Souls... all I'm playing rite now is Story Mode.... I have the bottom 8 characters left...

but the fighting itself doesnt impress me, so I really doubt the Tower mode will make it any better...

character customization is only ok, like I said u can look but u cant touch...

online sounds whatever... I hear it's laggy and Id rather play GGPO

the good news...
I picked up VF5 for ps3 for $15 used at eb games yesterday.
I picked up the same game, but for $10 at gamecrazy!!!!!

I only see the PS3 version owners complaining about lag online...unless I'm just seeing things.

Character creation is just too much fun. I've only played for about 5 hours and already have a ton of stuff to mess around with. I thought Tekken's costume store was sick, but this is just insane. The Tower is alright, online will be better once I find some non-mashers to play with. It doesn't seem like the deepest game in the world, but it's a ton of fun when you play people who kinda know what they're doing.

and Shura...
SC IV regular comboz are the weak. But Stun/sidestun combos are the boss...
yeah, the only plus I see to regular combos is that they usually look cool but that's it.
Man, this shit's all starting to look the same. I'll buy Arc's stuff and I'll buy Melty Blood, but I'm starting to feel like there's almost too many hardcore 2D fighters now...
on that note: have you played the blitzkreig game yet?

Akatsuki Blitzkampf: Autchung Juden?

No, I haven't. I think there was an arcade release or something that trounced the PC version of the game, so I'm waiting for that to hit a console or the PC. I don't want to buy an obsolete version of a game. It does look really cool, so I'm hoping they announce something soon.

I think there's a demo of it though if anything.

I'll have to check it out, then.

But man... Daemon Bride or whatever the hell it's called is like the first time I've completely thought "y'know, I just don't care" about a high-res 2D fighter. I mean, maybe it'll be kinda cool, but I'll stick with BlazBlue, kthx.

I agree with you, Chac. It feels like they're oversaturating the market with fighters. I understand they're cheaper to make but they need to spread em out a little more. I'll pick up BlazBlue and wait for a sale on everything else.

Well, it's not even that they're oversaturating the market, it's just that from this shot, you can basically tell that there's no original thought going on. We're back to the me-too bullshit of the 90's. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend.

anyway, I don't see the DLC music for SC 4 on the PS3 yet :( I want to jam to SC1's music.

they're not necessarily oversaturating the market

a lot of these fighting games start out as doujin fighting games. back then most doujin games were shooters, but after the success of melty blood more doujin groups wanted to make fighters.

i mean to me, daemon bride, arcana heart, akatsuki, the fate/stay night game, they all look doujin quality to me.

Get an arcade stick!

Also, not all SC IV air combos are weak... Some characters have some beefy ones... like my main dude the pirate... ^_^

3B, 214:B+K (just frame version)... even more damage on CH 3B.
fuck, I can't even navigate menus with the 360's d-pad. Either I'm retarded (not the case) or that thing is worthless.
It's okay, the stupid D-Pad even screws me over in Pac-Man CE sometimes.

But with all the AAA games coming out, can't you say that all these doujin fighters are crowding each other out? Who's gonna have time to play all of these games when SFIV, BlazBlue, and Tekken 6 are out? Besides MarkMan, of course, but we all know he's gonna be deep inside Tekken 6.

Don't get me wrong. I love that all these games are coming out but I'd hate for people to look at the good games and say, "It looks just like X. Why even bother with it?"

be careful what we wish for, eh? I love my Capcom/Namco fighters and melty blood, but after all these other doujin games got more attention, I realized that I'm still all about the classics. None of the new IP fighters have grabbed me. Arcana Heart especially was like playing with a piece of poo in a bucket, imho.

speaking of which, any of you guys know if Actress Again is arcade only?

maybe they'll patch the PC version of rev.B?

doujin fighters for the doujin market

they look for the niche market
kinda like atlus for RPGs, we know mana khemia 2 isn't going to be the next final fantasy but there are some people out there who would prefer it to ff.

ps. i don't know what a mana khemia is.

I think AA is way too drastic of a change to patch that into Ver. B. They just announced the arcade version for September like a week ago, though, so I think we hafta be patient for a PC announcement.

I understand they're catering for a certain market but it doesn't mean that they're any good. I'd say that Atlus and NIS saturated the market with SRPG games also. The only good one to hit in the last couple years was Disgaea but it spawned five million other games that are barely different.

actually stopped at an arcade for a few minutes tonight just for the hell of it. I beat CvS2 (fought Bison), came close to beating Slash (gave up on I-no.) It was the saddest sight though. I was the only guy playing fighters. Some mentally retarded guy came and tried Tekken 5 (not even DR), but lost to the first person and gave up. I knew what hell was like for a brief moment.
