forgot to mention I played GG Isuka last night (my free copy)... geeze. I'm surprised at how one button can ruin a whole game...
Haha, I'm sure they had good intentions for Isuka, but the manual turning was too big a leap from auto turning for many, or rather almost everyone, to handle. I also just watched an Isuka combo video from youtube. It looks very lame and I just feel sorry for whoever player 3 was. My favorite part would have to be when potemkin was getting owned by himself times two.

Warning, this is probably the lamest combo video ever.

agree with that. GGJudgment's boost mode is heaven compared to Isuka.

Did you guys like GG Dust Strikers for the DS? Sure, it could have used a bit of work, but I found it enjoyable to play... it's not one of my favorite fighters, but I can still pop it in and have a good time...

Does anyone know how to get your stats working in Dust Strikers btw? I tried putting it on the highest difficulty and it still wont keep my stats. Anyone know why? :whistle2:k

Also, it sucks how GG Dust Strikers doesent have DS Download Play, meaning no multiplayer since it seems like no one else I know owns that game...

It was really frustrating when playing with someone like Zappa. You can't really tell if he's turned around sometimes. I hated trying to pull some moves off and then realize I was facing the wrong way. I played the game for a day and traded it into EB. I only ended up taking a two dollar loss on the whole thing but I can't get that horrible night of playing turn around back.

Hmm, personally I can't really admire GGDS since I played the other console iterations. It just doesn't feel the same and seems more like another collect the items game. I mean, for GGDS, down is block and you cant really control jumping since one press of the up button puts you up one level. Well, in my perspective, nothing seems to beat the original formula of GG for console. The latest XX iteration, Slash, is a masterpiece 2d fighter. And I'd say Accent Core could only get better, even if improvements or changes are very minute.

As for my favorite portable DS fighter, I would most likely have to say that Bleach DS keeps the top spot, though there is only a very small handful of fighters for the DS. Alpha 3 was damn good for the gba.

Picked up Powerstone today. Played for a little while but did not have a lot of time to get into it yet. One thing is for sure it looks nice on that PSP screen.
Did you guys like GG Dust Strikers for the DS?
I bought it the week it came out and only played it a handful of times. I just couldn't get used to it (as Halu102 mentioned), because I had been used to the console versions for so long. Traded it in during the "extra $10" sale at EB a couple months ago.

I never could get into Power Stone 2 either. It seemed way too chaotic, the camera was terrible (think california raisins). I didn't care for the new characters in Power Stone 2.

Power Stone 1 is amazing, and still one of my favorite games on Dreamcast. Though for some reason my interest for the PSP collection of the two Power Stone games has gone down since the news first broke.

I want to buy it but Capcom has burned me every fucking time on their PSP games... they drop the price about a month after it's come out $10 or $20 cheaper.

fuck them... I won't fall for it again.

I know eventually someone will have it for $20, and I barely use my PSP so I'm no rush to get it. Like asianxcore, my interest of this has dropped a ton since they first announced it.

Yeah I still don't have Ghost n' Goblins for that exact reason because I Know it will be $20. For some reason though I saw Powerstone today just to buy it. I saw it was like man I love Powerstone and just bought it knowing it will drop in a month to $20. I am really all against capcom coming out with these remakes and collections I rather have new content and I still bought it.

That's exactly why Capcom keeps releasing the old stuff. They know you'll buy a game that you played to death five years ago because it's an easier plunge than a brand new fighting game for the PSP. Plus the fact is much cheaper to just port a great old game than try to make an original game that might get a lukewarm reception from the media and the hardcore fighting game heads. They can get two guys to code it for the PSP and wham bam thank you ma'am, another port of a five year old(or older) game.

Yeah I understand why they do it. As I fighting game fan though I usually take what I can get. That's why I mostly import. Thanks goodness for SNK and Sammy right now or 2D fighting would be done.

I thought you guys may be interested in this. One of the designers of Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting (for the 360 maybe?) James Goddard is speaking here at my school on the topic of "creating a kickass indie studio." There's supposedly a live feed going up soon when it starts in a few minutes or so, though I'm not sure if outside people can see it.

Here's a general link to the live feed. Let me know if you can or can't see it. If you can, you'll probably have to refresh until it actually starts. It should be starting soon if you can see it.

Edit: I'm not even able to get the live stream to work, so you probably won't either. Anyways, the whole thing would probably get uploaded within a week or so, so you may need to wait until then to watch it if it won't work live. There's a question area that seems to work, but the feed isn't working. Go figure.

True. Hopefully, they're allowed into the next gen. I'd hate to see 2D fighters go extinct because everyone wants "next-gen" graphics. 2D fighters helped video gaming get to where it is now but it's quickly being forgotten. These games should be released state side. I don't even care if it's translated but I do want to be able to walk into a store and buy the next Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, SamSho, Hakuto no Ken, NGBC, or KOF without having to play $70 plus shipping. I'm not saying it's not worth it but I hate having 2D fighters treated like they're snuff films or tentacle porn.

Oh and sorry to go OTT but tonight starts the Knicks quest for an 0-81 season. This will be a train wreck for the ages.

I would also love it if those great import only fighters were released stateside. But I doubt that'll happen anytime in the near future.

The fighting game scene here in the states is a bit lackluster, especially since people don't go to the arcades as much since they could rather play at home, online. The main difference I think is the loyalty developed. Over here, if someone gets into 2d fighters, it'll most likely be somekind of streetfighter or old vs title, since Capcom was able to push their games out and had their already large fanbase at their disposal.

All the other fighters seem nonexistant because the what's left of the 2D fighter market is taken over by capcom titles which seem to be decreasing and the rest by FPS, RPG, Adventure, etc.

Well, for example, Sammy released GGX2. Though I don't know how well it did in the states. But it seemed like it was good enough to nudge for another Guilty Gear. Then they came out with Isuka. This is probably when Sammy totally alienated themselves from the US fighting scene. Couple this with how GG is such a niche game [personally I think the fighting genre is very niche], people would most likely go with the more familiar established Capcom.

However, for some reason, fighting games are still strong enough to push out new games over in Japan. I think, the arcade scene over in Asia is still strong enough to warrant more fighting games, not just made by Capcom.

Basically, I'm thinking the developers don't bring their 2D fighting games over here because it will probably put them under and that the gaming industry over here has been saturated with other types of games not allowing for the "lesser" known fighters to emerge.
Thx for the effort Frisky. I wish my local school had game designers come and give lectures... the best we've had was when the janators ate 50 bagels...

All I can tell you is that it is an action game... from what it says... and that it will probably play like all other GGs >_

Guilty Gear Mythologies? noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

New Guilty Gear games would be cooler if there were more characters or significant additions. I'd like to see some completely random characters too... like maybe throw Kenshiro in there from the Hokuto no Ken game or maybe put... I dunno... Otto von Bismarck in there for good measure?

I'm creative. And no, I'm not high... or drunk. Just really, really bored and tired of studying.

They also need more mini games in GG. There needs to be a mini game where you look for shit with somebody named "HeylookwhatIfound." Then, if you see the object you're trying to find, you yell "Hey look what I found, HeylookwhatIfound!!" Realistically though, it'd be pronounced: "HeyyyyyyyyyyyyylookwwwhatIIfound................................. HlookwhuhIIIIIIIfound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Yes, I am really this bored.

I'm already all over this mini game...

offtopic: my sisters' site is going live on December 1st... check out the placeholder splash page by clicking the little picture of the lightning in my sig (which happened to be a game I worked on with em...).

Yeah, Guilty Gear would be awsome if it had some cool minigames. I remember when I got Rival Schools for PS, I loved the fighting aspect so with the minigames on the other disc. My brother did not even bother playing the main game and instead just played the Batting and Volleyball Spike games. Good times, good times.

The mini games in GG DS were, ehhh, ok. Maybe even better than the main game, haha.

So you can see the player and all that? I'll let you know whenever they get the presentations uploaded on there, but in the meantime you can check out the older ones under the Tech Forum listings just to the right if you're interested.

Yeah, I get the player, but no stream... I'll check out the tech stuff later. again, thx :)

So anyone down for some UMK3 (X360) tomorrow (Thursday) night around 11 PM EST?

Also down for some Ultimate Alliance if anyone is playing that.

HeylookwhatIfound!!

re: new sf movie

BIZ: The original Street Fighter: The Movie spawned games featuring the digital likenesses of Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia. Will we see new games based on this film?

CAPCOM GUY: I can confirm that we have a multi-format strategy for Street Fighter, what, when, how and why we're not talking about. Anniversaries for key franchises are important milestones in the game industry. We have a 20th Anniversary of Street Fighter in 2008 and we'll be developing a number of properties around that for the anniversary.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

hmmmmmm...........

hmmmmmmmmmmmm........................................................
They'll make new movies, anime, toys and comics, but all we really want is a new fucking game.
and not a digitzed movie one either.

prediction- if they try to make a new one, it'll be 3-D, based on the movie, and not made by anyone from the SF team at least (or by an american team at worst)
They'll make new movies, anime, toys and comics, but all we really want is a new fucking game.
Yeah, what ever happened to all those rumors of Street Fighter 4? I would love to see an SF that has all of the characters with totally redrawn sprites to bring it up to the level that GG has. Include some new characters too and the secret characters all be Capcom characters like the crew from Project Justice and Final Fight.
ooooh!

the triumphant return of sawada??

Aksys games?
Ah... I'm familiar with them...

Aksys just released Eagle Eye Golf... they were pushing hard for GGXX Slash to come out over here but in the end they ALMOST had it locked, but Sony denied them.

They're still trying to have it released here though.

And yes they do have the US license for GG games on consoles.

My guess is some kind of GG collection since Sony actually allows them stateside (KoF and Metal Slug at least). I'm guessing my #r and Slash, or perhaps Guilty Gear(1), Guity Gear X, and GG XX Slash.

Either way it'll be pretty cool if that ends up being the case.

I got another fighting game quiz coming up. Just trying to figure out some very hard questions. I'm about half way done with it.

Rules:

- The first to answer all 10 correct wins!

- Get as many as you can right. There's no harm in trying. :dunce:

- Try to determine everything out on your own. You can use other posts to help, but keep in mind it would be more entertaining if you guys used your own deductive skills to figure out the questions. Don't use Google or Wiki. I'll know if you do.

- The winner gets a free USED copy Pocket Fighter for the PS1. It's in fair condition and working perfectly (as far as I know.) But it's FREE, you pay NOTHING!!!

- I'll only let you know when you get all 10 right. No clues, no pitty!!! However if I make a mistake let me now. I'm only half human.

- Markman holds the curent title. Beat em' up guys!!!

Please forgive my skepticism but I suspect cheating, let me analyze this for a sec.....
