8/7/07 for the Virtua Fighter stick...that's pretty close. Anyone think it'll get delayed?

plus, is it just me or is this thing fuglier than the doa stick--

That is definately fuglier than the DOA4 stick. I already have the sexy lady one, I think I'll be passing on this.

Please, no Soul Calibur movie... ugh.

I wonder if that will be the final look or not. It seems odd they would add those two little images to the top like that. I sold off my DOA 4 stick when the prices got insane, so as long as this one works like that one did I'll pick this up. I can use the 360's D-Pad pretty well with SFIIHF but with the upcoming games like VF5 and SSFIITHD I think I'm going to be happy to have a stick again.

the two little images (whether they end up on the final version or not) make the entire stick look terrible.

I'm thinking they might delay it, unless they want to try to get it to sell with SFIIHD or something.

hmmm most of you guys may be getting your wishes:

http://arcadeheroes.com/2007/07/30/street-fighter-4-may-still-be-on-the-way/

Thanks to a tip from the Stinger Report, it appears that Capcom may be soon revealing a new Street Fighter arcade title. It is unknown if this would be Street Fighter 4 something else but at the recent Anniversary celebration for Street Fighter at a number of Capcom arcade venues, displays have appeared with copy that alludes to a new Street Fighter arcade title. Both us and The Stinger Report are going to be wary about this until anything official is announced as rumors back in 2005 turned up with nothing once Capcom began scaling back on their arcade operations (you might recall another game which seems to have been lost in limbo, War of The Grail). So please remember that is solely a rumor until we actually see a system for it. Photos courtesy of The Stinger Report via Gamewatch.

when is the JAMMA show anyway? Tekken 6 news is a strong possability :)

anyone see the gameplay videos of harvey birdman yet? Guile makes a cameo since Capcom is making it.

also, a bit old by a month or so, but good read:

JAMMA show is very soon...September 13-15th I think.

Aw crap, I guess I'm stuck with that fugly 360 stick now. Ah well, as long as it works...
Damn Rolento it's been hella long. Please try to get it to me before I move on August 22nd :D
no worries... I've just gotten delayed way too damn much. It's out this week or your money back or whatever >_

It'll be mid August for US...

Also! The lag between US players is really picky... when I'm playing vs someone from Japan or Korea the lag is so-so... but vs a US player they MUST have a good connection or else it will be a shit fest.

I've played vs ppl that live about 5 minutes away from me and it was ALMOST perfect at times...

Sounds good...I'm worried that my wi-fi connection will botch it though.

Markman-- how many people can be in a room?

8 people. 2 people playing, and 6 watching.

Yes, you can make private rooms and do friend/ppl you met invites and everything... It's pretty cool :)

I won't be back til late tonight if anyone wants to play...

Thanks for the impression MarkMan

As long as the lag isn't as bad as DOA4 or 3S, I should be fine. Hopefully my internet connection won't be as selective to who it lets me play against :)

Man, the radioshack converter I'm using to play Melty Blood on my PC is a piece of shit. Sooo laggy. As in, I can't shoryuken or dash consistently. So yeah, I'm picking up the Pelican converter... thank God it's lag-free. And, of course, it's the Pelican converter for the PS3, so it'll do double duty for me.

Anyone down for some Guilty Gear tomorrow? I'm off all day and I really want to just kick back with a couple spliffs, beers, and beatdowns.
Anyone down for some Guilty Gear tomorrow? I'm off all day and I really want to just kick back with a couple spliffs, beers, and beatdowns.
I'll give it a try. The lag is mostly bad in the game, but sometimes it's fine. I won't be able to play until around 10pm though.

Phew, got back from Gamestop after turning down a warranty, a GameInformer subscription, and a $10 preorder on the $100 Guitar Hero 3. The guy started another sentence, but then looked at me and said "$16.15" and I paid him and left promptly. Because he was annoying me.

So I get home, thinking to myself, "Y'know, this better be an improvement, because I really hope that the PC version isn't just really strict or something gay like that." Because I can't even dash without encountering some sort of issue and that's a red flag. A really red fuckin' flag. So I take the Radioshack piece of shit and plug in the Pelican adapter which I'll be using for Tekken on the PS3 in a few short weeks. I plug in the Tekken stick. I proceed to play a match of Melty Blood. Instant improvement. As in, now, I can do absolutely everything effortlessly. So I guess that input lag is actually a far bigger issue than I originally thought, because it was crippling Melty Blood. So yeah, I was thinking of holding onto the Radioshack adapter in case I have a friend over who wants to play Melty Blood, but it's such a piece of shit that I think I'll just throw it away and get another Pelican adapter. So anyway, I'm happy. I recommend the fuck out of the Pelican adapter as it is lag free and works flawlessly on the PC.

Somewhere in that giant paragraph, I think you are saying you love the Pelican adapter Chac :)

Have you downloaded T5DR for PS3 yet or are you waiting for the online update first?
Waiting for the online patch. I know I'm going to get gang raped the second I play a match online, but... screw it.
I'll finally have my revenge for those SFIII matches... no more robot conan o'brien face raping.

love how this happens in every interview. the top 5 worst games of all time was the best though.

ha ha ha, I think now he just says stuff about Tekken for the same reason he never takes his shades off.

That aside, it's nice to know Japanese developers like 360, even narcissistic nutjobs like Itagaki. Hm, is he actually getting acne on top of his acne? Anyway, that's got to help Microsoft some (that he likes 360, not the acne--yuck). And yeah Nintendo, too. Wii is just too unstoppable a force not to at least "research".

Wonder what Project Progressive is about?

Don't have a PS3, don't have Tekken DR, don't have Melty Blood. But I'm all over Itagaki news. It's kinda scary to know he has kids.

BTW, am I the only dork that doesn't have a PS3? Kinda hard for me to drop half a grand when I only want to play Tekken DR. Besides Tekken Advance, is thier any reason why Tekken has always been a Playstation exclusive?

best thing to do is keep an eye on craigslist... I didn't want to pay too much as well, but found it for $200 cheaper than retail and didn't have to pay tax at all, thus saving me roughly $250. I bet you can get them cheaper now as well since the price drop thingy.

Someone on CAG sold me their minty fresh 20 gig for $375 a week ago. Thing didn't even look like it had ever been out of the box.

That being said, all I ever play on it at the moment is T5DR and MK2. I'm waiting for Ninja Gaiden Sigma to drop down to about $40 because I'm not going to buy it at full price again (got the Xbox one on release day).

Ok, so basically, I love fighting games. However, I want to start being a hardcore fighter, starting off with sticks for my PS3 and 360. Also, reccomendations for some fighting games are greatly appreciated (US region only, my PS2 is broken so US is all I can get).
I have some DOA's, Tekkens, Soul Calibur's, but I want to get into stuff like Guilty Gear.
Any reccomendations for sticks/games?
EDIT: And yeah I have the SF collections for PS2, so I'm covered there

if you like GG gameplay, get melty blood. I'm not the type to like those speedy type of 2d fighters, but it seems good for ya.

Just play what you like and practice.

Melty Blood...PC? because I couldn't get the PS2 version...
And are PC's region free? If not how can I get them to work and are there a lot of PC fighters to make it worth a (potential) investment?

Thanks for recomending Craigslist, I'll keep checking. I'd love to play you guys in some Tekken. I used to be very good back in my Tekken Tag days. I even had a chance to go to Orlando for the state championships but I declined cause it was on the same day as my senior prom. Now that I think about it I should've went, FOR ETERNAL GLORY!!! :boxing:
Any reccomendations for sticks/games?
Stick wise for the PS3 I think it's the HORI Fighting Stick 3? But the 360 your limited to only the DOA Hori stick. In a few months you can get the VF4 stick, but I asume it'll be the same exact thing, just diffrent art.

For games you gotta find a way to play import games for your PS2. It's actually easier & cheaper than most people think. Games like Hokuto no Ken, KOF XI, Melty Blood, SamSho Tenka, Neo Geo BC, etc... Most will never find their way over here.
EDIT - Also watch out for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD which will be on XBLA soon. I'm sure this entire thread will be playing.

The only problem is that my PS2 is broken. Its a fat one, so I'm thinking I should just get a Japanese PS2 (crap, nevermind, those are almost $200 here). I'm thinking I'll just spend a load of cash to get the PS2 I have fixed to buy those games...I'm not really sure.
But right now I'll follow the reccomendation to practice the games I have.
Anybody know the best way to practice for Tekken 5, DOA4 and SF: Third Strike?

Not to be a dick but you should rule on the Xbox/X360 if you want to be a hardcore fighting fan. Most of the fighting games released for them are on other systems and run better. That is unless you want to get yourself really good at DOA.

Rodimus is right is saying that you should find a way to play imports on your PS2. Many fighters (a lot actually) do not make it over here to the states for one reason or another. Most hardcore fighting game fans I know have a way to play imports on their PS2.

Those who do not import, well it's sort of mandatory you own a PS2 (or Dreamcast depending on who you ask) for fighting games. The U.S has a pretty solid list of fighters available here in the U.S to get you started.

As for sticks, get a PS2 stick. That was later on you can use it for your PS2 and pick up the PS2/PS3 Pelican converter to work on your PS3. But if you know for a FACT you will never use your PS2 for any importing, a PS3 stick would be a good choice.

360 stick? If you can get one cheap, why not get one. Then again if you are like me, most of your fighting game collection is on other systems. Maybe 1% of my fighting game collection is on Xbox 360/Xbox

More importantly, as Rolento said PLAY WHAT YOU LIKE. I would hate to start playing fighting games simply because I want to tell people who "hardcore" I am.

EDIT: As far as practice, do you have any friends that are hardcore fighting game players? Do you have an arcade where you can find competition at. If not, there isn't too much you can practice on when playing against the computer (as it can get predictable). Just practice your bread-and-butter combos, countering, your good/bad matchups, punishing whiffs (missed moves), etc. etc. Pretty much keep it in your mind how to take advantage of a situation but also how to get out of a bad one (or make it so it doesn't sting much).

Thanks, asianxcore, the reason I don't import is because my PS2 is broken. Not sure if I should just go with a slim PS2 or fix the one I have (which I screwed around with the front to get the swap-magic thing (which I also have, but I don't know where the DVD one is.

EDIT: Nope, all of my friends are stupid and don't play video games.
