Final Fantasy VII Remake from Best Buy Preorder !?
If this is true, I will get a PS3.
It would take a little more than this to get me to part with $600

really gonna have to wait for tokyo game show prolly for more informaiton if any...though Nomura might be a little busy with his current projects....not sure how long this would take

Agree, If they make it and when I pick up a ps3 after a few price drops I would pick it up.
Can all the Xbox fanboys tell me how much this game would suck?
I'm not an Xbox fanboy but isn't anyone else tired about hearing the words Final Fantasy VII yet? This game is quickly becoming bigger than itself.

actually im kinda tired of all the spin off games, I didn't mind advent children nor would I mind a complete graphical makeover....though get rid of english Aeris's voice....and I hope some companies have learned to leave in both the japanese and english voices with subtitles

Seriously.

FF VII was one of my favorite games ever but I really am not interested in Square re-making it, especially since I didn't like Advent Children or the ps3 tech demo trailer.

Final Fantasy VII is so overrated and so overappreciated that it's not even funny... look, it's a solid RPG and a revolutionary one (at the time of its release), but to make it seem in a way like no other RPG matters is pure bullshit and an injustice to other great titles in the genre, especially those that are clearly better than it.

Oh, come on! Who wouldn't want to pay $660 to play a 9-year-old, grossly overrated game with better graphics?

Square Enix did state they aren't working on it, and Best Buy has put false preorders up before, but this is not on EB or Gamestops preorder list yet and they put more false ones up then Best Buy (BB has historically been more accurate with preorders). I do think it would be an obvious move for Square (which is why i posted it in the first place) and the fact that we saw the tech demo a long time ago shows that if they were working on it that they have had plenty of time to do it. It is extremely possible that if the game is in development then it will be ready within the next year.

And just for the record (just to chime in) FFVII is great, probably overrated (its almost impossible for ANY game to be as good as some people say VII is), and is NOT the best Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy VI is amazing, way underrated (due to graphics), and not only my favorite Final Fantasy, but my favorite game. Anyone agree?

You forgot tax :shame:

I think theres probably more vailidity in a PSP Final Fantasy game than a FF VII on the PS3. And to be honest that $600 dollar price tag is reminiscent of when Saturn and PS1 first came out....Saturn Bundle with a game was $600, base unit was $500 and PS1 was $400...I just dont know how that $600 is gonna be justified today with an XBOX 360 going for half that price and a Wii for less than half

And Metal Gear Solid 4 would be a reason to own PS3 at launch...but with the Metal Gear series showing up on both Nintendo and Xbox....I dont know

O.K. here's my take. A Final Fantasy remake makes sense for everyone. For Sony, it's a HUGE draw for the PS3, as you can bet your bottom dollar this will be a PS3 exclusive. For SE it's a guaranteed million selling project. Most projects, even from Square, have some risk attached. With this, there is no risk... You can bet a healthy percentage of the people who bought the first version will buy the second, in addition to the people whp have never actually played FFVII.

There are always the people who will whine about FFVII not being that great, or being overrated, or not needing a remake. Sony/SE, however, don't give a wet crap about those people or their opinons. What they DO care about, is the literally millions of fans who will shell out a big pile of cash for a remake.

I do have some inside information. The last I heard, which admittedly was some time ago, Sony was footing the entire bill for the remake. They essentially said to SE, unlimited budget, you get what you need, get it done.

I played this game when I was 7 years old and loved it. I would DEFINITELY buy a remake...

not a PS3 though, way too expensive, :(.

I thought Sony dropped the price to $299 at E3 before the launch?

I personally love remake, RE remake on GC was fantastic. If there is a FFVII remake I would proably buy it as well - get that sealed copy even without a ps3 i think. HA.. HA.

Anyways, I do think FFVII is a little overrated because that IS the first FF ever made it onto playstation. I mean, let's say if FF9 or FF8 were the first that released on playstation, it would be as famous as FFVII right now. It was a huge jump from old nintendo era and the grahpical improvement was stunning.

Oh boy, but it provided great memories and I still remember the day I ran to Bestbuy to get my copy. the joy of looking at pre-rendered background and lots of CG .... Few months later I got my RE 2 copy from the same bestbuy as well. DArn, good old time.

Well, RE Remake on GC was pretty much an entirely new game built around the original's story. If FF VII was a "remake" along those lines, it would look much more attractive.

I'm hoping this is true, I'd love to see this game remade. Whether you like it or not, a FFVII remake would singlehandedly sell a lot of systems.

My feelings are quite similar to yours. Between FFVI and VII, I would much rather see a remake of VI. However, I think FFVII is/was an incredible game and is considered such by many for reasons greater than the fact that it was the first RPG of its kind. I agree that many people overrate VII, but that doesn't change the fact that the game is excellent.

[sighs] if only it were Xenosaga Episode 4 or Xenogears remake..

But this is just as good, and if it's true then I am excited

But to the person who said VI is better

If any game is overhyped, it's Final Fantasy VI. Besides the fact I absolutely dislike the game, its characters, everything in it..here's why I think it's over rated

Speaking in terms of the SNES line of Final Fantasy games, it's the one that ALWAYS gets mentioned. Yet Final Fantasy IV has the better story and definitely better music, and V has the better gameplay, SO WHY IS VI THE ONE EVERYONE RAVES ABOUT?!

And in every discussion about Final Fantasy, there's always someone to remind us it's better than any of the PSOne installments, even though FFVII and VIII are extremely well crafted games, and in terms of story, artistic value, and production, exceed Final Fantasy VI in many ways.

Then there's the complete dismissal of Final Fantasy X and its much under rated sequel. The gameplay alone in X and X-2 blow anything in VI out of the water, add in the stories, and the exceedingly beautiful graphics and presentation and how could anyone still prefer VI as their favorite?

Seriously, any Final Fantasy, say it's the best, I won't fight you on it, say the best is VI, and I just feel everything Square did with the Final Fantasy series goes to waste. Games before it are better, games after it are better, why is it so damn popular?

And an edit: It's not even just about Final Fantasy now. Phantasy Star IV rips VI to shreds and makes it look like Mystic Quest. It's a shame the Phantasy Star series became a cute anime inspired Everquest clone.

i'll say this first... i love the original FFVII. it was a great game and triggered a lot of emotion in me while i was playing it. the game is highly overrated by people who have probably never even played through the game. but i think what made the game so great for me is that it was one of those games where i'll catch myself humming the music to and get caught up in a conversation with a friend of different parts of the game.

square's milking the franchise for all it's worth. a psp prequel, a movie sequel, a ps2 sequel, some mobile phone game and possibly a remake. and in my opinion, chances are, these games are going to suck. you play as zack in before crisis... seriously, who the fuck cares about zack?? and we havnt seen antything on dirgee of cerebus in a long time. which means one of two things... square doesn't really want the game really shown until it's release (something they never do)... or the game is having major issues (this sounds more like it). then again, everyone thought FFXII was going to suck due to issues it had and a weird direction it took. but most people have been more than satisfied.

LOL, no you don't. Lemme guess, you heard that from some "insiders" on, let's see, GameFAQs, right?

Please stop assuming what you believe is the best actually is the best. I hate when people have to believe their opinion is superior to what everybody else thinks.

YES!!! FF6 is pretty much the pinnacle of the series. Though it's predecessors, especially IV and V, were practically equal, in my eyes.

Actually, Chrono Trigger might be my favorite game. I can never pick between it and FF6.

I never said my opinion is superior to all others..

I only complained why EVERY thread about FINAL FANTASY VII has two, three, four people, that just have to post, ABOUT HOW GREAT FF VI IS.

I try to not read their 3-page-long posts about which game is the best or what stupid videogame character they'd like to be, which are full of shit that 99% of the world wouldn't give a damn about.

I'm one of the biggest FF7 fans around and consider it my all time favorite game (whether its the greatest or not is personal opinion). Even so, I still wouldn't buy a PS3 for it. FF7 remake included, there's all of three titles worth playing on PS3 (none of which are launch titles) IMO.
I thought Sony dropped the price to $299 at E3 before the launch?
Yep, right after Sega made the suprise launch.

Come on? Nobody else besides me believes that FF V > all other FF*.*? :D

I can't believe I don't see supporter for FF V here!!! darn it.

But really, I think great game to me is the games that provides great memory, and V & VII both served me well. I use to stay away from RPG until i played FF V. As for VII, it's just beautiful (thanks to ps1). But again FFVIII is stunning as well, I just didn't have the same feeling towards it. It's all about timing and I am sure everyone has diff opinion on their favorite FF.

Come on! more FF V supprters!

If they remake it and add some quality stuff (extra dungeons/materia/weapons/revive aeris) I'd be pretty happy to see it done. If they're just going to update graphics and maybe add an extra movie clip I'll be dissapointed. Either way, I'm not buying a ps3 or 360 until prices drop a lot, but I know I won't even bother checking out the game if it's just for upgraded graphics.

As for what's the best, I think everyone knows that FF Tactics is by far the best (although I can understand that some would not want to compare it to the others). Other than that I like them all (except X-2 was a piece of crap in my opinion)

This remake is inevitable, really. Everyone wants it. FFVII is synonomous with RPG, and Square would make a shitload of money with less effort than it would take to make a new game.

i think there's been enough Final Fantasy games, and Square Enix should just stop making them altogether. make a new game, give it a unique name, and quit milking the title, since the nipples snapped off LONG AGO.

FFVII and it's ilk have long been the "Street Fighter II" of RPGs, and not only has that dead horse been beaten, it's been ground into dust and the fans are still snorting the remains.

personally, i'm ready for a new Crusader of Centy! ;)

Well, I won't deny, I'd kill for a new Crusader of Centy, the animals were so CUUUUTE! A cute chubby round 3d penguin! And the tiger too! Crusader of Centy is 100x better than any other action RPG, just because of the cute animals and fun gameplay mechanics, plus ALL THE RIDDLES!!

So yeah, I'd rather have a new Crusader of Centy than a new FF or a FF VII remake

But I'd be sad if they didn't make any more Final Fantasy games..
