First Game you ever owned?

I believe it was Breakout for the 2600, may have been Adventure, Combat, Freeway, Pitfall or ET, but I'm pretty sure it was Breakout.

edit - I also had Zork early on... anyone know the year that came out? It could be my first.

Something for the Atari 800. I could narrow it down to about a dozen possible candidates but cannot recall better than that.

Sears Tele-Games pseudo-'Pong' set, the kind that you plug into the TV, has the controllers built in to the 'console' and you can switch between Pong, Tennis, and like one other game.
Still have it, not sure if it works.

Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunting that came free with NES. But I bought Zelda with it at the same time.

A bunch of Intellivision and Atari 2600 games I got from my dad. first one that came into my possesion personally, was Sonic The Hedgehog that came with my Genesis.

I got an NES for Christmas when I was around 5 or so. As for the first that I purchased with my own money, I guess it would be Sega Channel. It was $15 a month, and I would do chores to pay for it, so technically it was the first that I was responsible for. Too bad it's gone. I'd probably still play it.

the sega channel was so fucking awsome.

my first game other than SMB that came with my NES was Zelda and Excitebike (i got them all at the same time for christmas in 87 i believe)

An original Magnavox Odyssey. Not an Odyssey II mind you, an original Odyssey - complete with the giant full size light rifle (not gun -RIFLE!) and all those static cling overlays for the tv screen. I used to play the "Haunted House" rom chip religiously...which in essence was a white block you moved around on the screen that lit up various see thru areas on the overlay - oooo scary! Basically the whole system was something like a giant pong variant. Man I'm old...

home alone for snes... ironicly it was b4 i got a snes... received that the next day during christmas. Got the game christmas eve, i was like wtf lol

Technically Super Mario Bros. & Duck Hunt w/NES. My bro and I first bought for the NES: Bionic Commando, TMNT and RoboCop.

The first video game I ever owned myself was Dig Dug, for the Atari 800. The first electronic game (what we had to settle for before Game Boy) I had was called Red Light, Green Light. It's an electronic version of the classic kid's game, in which there was a red and green light in the center, and two rows of lights on the sides. When the center light was green, you pressed your button and it would light up one light for every press. If you pressed it when the light was red, you'd lose all your lights and start over. The first to the top would win.

If you count the pong consoles, then that would be my first. Otherwise I received the 2600 w/combat and space invaders at the same time.

my parents had an odyssey 2 with a bunch of games...but the 1st system / game that i personally owned was my nes with smb / dh that i got for xmas one year

First in my family would have been an entire box of Atari 2600 games. I think I've still got that box somewhere in my basement. The controllers died years ago, and I've never replaced them...

First personally would probably be Kirby's Adventure for my NES. Another possibility would have to be the Power Rangers GB game, which I've still got in my Game Boy bag to this day. I haven't played it in ages...but I've still got it. :D

Zaxxon, Ladybug, Donkey Kong and Cosmic Avenger for Colecovision. My seven year old mind was thoroughly blown.
