Do a small tourney and do a specific weight class with real fighters - no created ones. That way you can get everything streamlined - if it all goes off without a hitch you can always expand for the next one.

I'd suggest a simple 8 man tourney.

And I'd be interested in joining - I just have to make sure I don't have any problems playing someone over XBL like I did when trying to connect to people with Perfect Dark.
 
I'm down. I'm only renting the game right now, but for this, I'd re-rent it or even buy it(its a siq game, I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment...). But I am down so long as I know the tourny date like 2 or 3 days in advance.

No way. Then there's always debate about whether someone is "cheap" or not. At least if someone thinks a stock boxer is cheap, the other guy can use them too.
 
Okay I think I'll go with the 8 man tournament idea and keep it to real boxers at first. If we start a league we can get into created boxer territory. Maybe even have two titles, a real boxer one and a maxed out created guy one.

When could everyone start playing? Also, any recommendation for free website hosting place or something where I could put up info? For now I'll just use this.

So is everyone that posted here interested? Or are some of you just in on the discussion? If everyone is interested we only need a few more people.

I refuse to use the stick. I don't button mash, but its just more comfortable for me to use buttons.
 
Yeah, I don't plan an all stick league. I've posted my thoughts on that quite a few times, but basically it comes down to:

1. I don't believe the stick vs buttons matters when you're good. Button users can't parry nearly effectively which makes up for the quick combos they can throw. Not to mention the stick power punches that buttons users don't practice with as much.
2. Controller sticks aren't meant to be used like that so I don't want the wear and tear.
3. Honestly, the game is a bit on a slow side and I think being able to throw hooks a little faster (using the buttons) still doesn't make up for the general slowness.

coolieman which control setting do you use? I know you knocked the crap out of me with it when I was using buttons.
 
Sorry I stopped checking back at this thread, but I'll be watching more now.

Any way, I had to return the game because late fees suck, but if you guys can toss up like a 24/48 hour advance notice as to when the tourny will be, I can re-rent it or just bite the bullet and buy it. Either way, please toss out advance notice. Thanks.

I've actually yet to play FN3 online. D'oh.

Regarding buttons vs. stick....I actually use both. Jabs and hooks with buttons, anything else with stick.

Have we decided on weight classes? I'm guessing there should be some sort of limit here, either all same weight class or maybe within one weight class (going down). PM sent to tournament creator.
 
Stilll just waiting on getting enough people, need about 3 more or so. I'm not sure about weight classes we'll check into that once we get enough people. I figured we'd just agree on a weight class to use for this first tournament anyway.
 
Yeah, I suppose I'm down. When we doing this? I'm trying to hunt down a cheap copy of the game as opposed to re-renting it.

Okay, I tried playing last night online, trying to see how good I was compared to a human. And let me just say that I suck. Real bad, I'm like 0/4.

Anyone got any tips on getting better before our tourny?
 
^ dont be predictable, change it up, keep them guessing. And watch your opponent moves closely and look for a patern.
 
well aparently you cant be a defensive fighter. i was using my man winky wright and made this guy go 9 rounds. I lost and he called me a pussy. He threw 500+ punches and landed about 200 and i threw 300 and landed about 200(even body and head). All he did was stand still and dance. I guess you cant box like they do in real life which pisses me off. The other thting was it seems like body shots dont do anything online. He was still throw tons of punches by the 9th and wasnt that tires which really pissed me off

I'll put a bracket up later or tomorrow sometime. I say for this first tournament we all just agree on a weight class and pick a fighter, no custom fighters. We can expand out to other weight classes later. Anyone have a weight class preference?
 
Okay brackets are up in the first post. Should we all be seperate fighters or for the sake of making things simpler should we just be whoever we want? I was thinking we might just do that and then the winner would have first dips on the guy they want for the league, 2nd would be next, and so on.
