Now's your chance to get another free HD DVD!

As you all know, the promotion was buy an HD DVD add-on get Heroes and 2 other HD DVD for free. Well, the new promotion is buy an HD DVD add on and get 3 for free. INJUSTICE!

If you go to the store, chances are the manager will turn you away. People are having luck calling 1-800-BESTBUY and explaining the situtaiton to them. I just did and they're sending me a giftcard for $35. Not bad.

So, call them up, explain nicely that the old promotion was two and now it's three and you would like your third, then go from there. If it doesn't work call back later.

That was pretty much it. He, Jacob, did the rest of the work. He asked what kind of HD DVD player I got, then asked for my receipt #. He put me on hold for a few minutes, apologized for the confusion, then said he would send me out a giftcard. That was about it.

just curious with one of the hd dvd players I got I got the 2 free movies and with the other 2 I got the box sets can I try this for all 3 or just for the one with the 2 regular movies?

sorry, I'm at work and was in a hurry to post. I purchased the dvd player and got the 2 movies so I can call in for that one. But with the other 2 dvd players I purchased I got the box sets so could I call in for those as well?

I got boxsets and it worked for me. Give it a shot and see what they say.

I already sent my 360 hd-dvd drive UPC to Toshiba. Given the fact that it takes 10 weeks to get the free hd-dvd's from them, do you think Toshiba will check the receipt for a return and rebuy?

I already got my free heroes the 2 hd-dvd's and 100$ gc (see the other thread about that)... it's kinda pushing it don't you think? I wasted about an hour's worth of cell phone minutes arguing with Cooperate about this... don't feel like going thru it again just for a 35 dollar movie.

this isnt the same deal tho..

before we got Heroes + 2 HD DVD's
now you just get 3 free HD DVD's , but not Heroes Box set right?

they aren't giving you Heroes anymore, so if you are able to get another HD DVD.. thats great for you.. but it is misleading as you did get 3 DVD's before also.. one of them was Just Heroes

Not worth the frustration... I got Heroes , the 2 hd-dvd's (Planet Earth and Transformers) and the 100 gift card. Now if there was a price drop on the 360 player, yea I would go back and get my price difference as they would have to honor it.

It's a 5 minute phone call. You don't have to go to the store. It seems to me to be very much worth it.

I was kidding with you, sorry if I took it too far (or you took it the wrong way). It's not a matter of being "ungrateful," or greedy, it's more of a "why not I'll give it a shot, Oh shit it worked!" type of a thing. Doesn't hurt to try. It won't go on your permament record or anything.

I think they called it the Customer Service Pin. It's toward the bottom of the receipt.
 
I'll try when I get home today....worth a shot. I want my Transformers. If they do it over the phone, it should not screw with your rebate....at least I would assume it shouldn't.

I bought the BOX-SETS with my deal last week.

I got denied. But I am happy with what I got already though. I wont be calling back... maybe I will go try in store for the heck of it..

I did read the SD link and some CSR were telling people to resend the rebate offer now as its a return rebuy issue and the old receipt will be voided..... I hate to see $35 GC mix up a rebate for 5 free HD DVD's.

Except your original UPC will be gone...and sometimes a rebate company can deny anyone for any reason.

Although, since they did it over the phone, did they do a return/rebuy at all?

That's what I'm thinking. I gave them my Pin #, but nothing else. I think (hope) I am in the clear. I copied all of my stuff (including the UPC) so I should get my free HD DVDs no matter what.

Just got off the phone with CSR Ken...

I explained just like the thread said... He says "well, it is 2 entirely different promotions, so what i can do is go ahead and send u a GC for $70, the price of the 2 HDDVDs...."

I don't know if he understood what i was asking him for, but i'll take it!!!

search is your friend. and no it won't work for you NOW. Various people including myself reported that BB Corp was sending out between $70-$100 gift cards to get Heroes later on which was suppose to be used to buy Heroes when it becomes available at the store since a lot of stores were reporting that they never had enough heroes to meet the demand of the ad special.

My cinchonas aren't big enough to call a company with a receipt that shows two hundred dollar boxsets for free and then ask if I can have extra hd dvd :) We keep this up and there will not be companies around that can we benefit from, they will all be bankrupt, lol.

It's not going to work... I saw the ad too earlier this week and thought the same thing, but like the other posters said, you got Heroes, 2 in store HD-DVD's (In most cases 100 dollar box sets), king kong and 5 in the mail for 180+tax, so be thankful BB allowed the deal to be honored. Enough is enough, just let it go and consider yourself lucky.

You may want to change the title of the thread, reading it makes one think they are going to get another one of the HD DVD add-ons for free now.

You're very luck. $70 GC can buy 4-5 HD DVD movies this week if u can printout Circuit City Online page HD DVD special sale this week then go to local BB and get them PRICEMATCH :)

Not everyone is gonna take it as a joke, espically those fw/sd people. By now people have probably called for Ken and if they didn't get him, they must have told the CSR that Ken is giving 70 dollars worth of GC's away. Ken *might* be written up for this now or even fired. This deal is so Your Luck May Very (YLMV).

Like I said before it's just not worth the frustration and a possible risk of screwing up the 5 free dvd offer just to get a free 35 dollar hd-dvd.

This makes no sense truthfully. How can they not match their own deals. You could return and rebuy all within their price/return period. Thats beyond the stupidest thing I have ever heard.... Now I can see them giving you a choice of heroes + 2 or the drive +3 but what they told you is a fallacy, simple as that.
 
seems to me that BB will go back and cancel any gift cards ken put through if people really do ask for him like that and you'll be sol
 
To all those FW/SD trolls who were pm'ing me earlier asking how I got the 100$ gc here is how you get it...

First you need help from your friends

Second, ask your friends to strip you naked and pour honey and chicken feathers on you.

Third, go to a best buy and dance around like a chicken. For best results go around closing time.

This might be a YMMV situation so check with a manager first before doing so :)

about receipt voiding - do you think they really check the status of receipts? The promotion isnt through Best Buy , or any other specific retailer...
If you cut out a UPC you can't return it anyway so its wasted manpower. Though given the huge delays getting the free stuff, i guess it could be happening =]

When you call, they put that information about your call in your file so it could be like

Customer asked about gift card

Customer was denied


Second call

Customer asks about gift card,

CSR pulls your file

Reads your file

Customer is denied gift card

You hang up

CSR puts in your file that you called about gift card second time and is denied again.
 
Actually, I spoke to 3 different people on the same call. Can anybody confirm if the box sets are working again for the current 3 free deal? I'm thinking about just going and buying another and selling it on ebay and keeping the 3 dvds. . .

They fixed that glitch with the 2 free very late in the deal last week.
