Format of Ebgames.com changed?

You get the gamestop.com call center now, too, complete with long hold times and country music while on hold that makes the clinically depressed want to jump off a bridge (no offense to fans of the music genre...or the clinically depressed).

I'm sure glad all of my orders were finished up within the last couple weeks. I'd hate to go through all the hassle. Has this affected any EB B&M stores yet? There's two EB's in town with no Gamestops, and I'd hate for them to have fucked everything up...
 
Well, I did manage to find my order for Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, though I sure don't like it. :evil:

Go to the My Orders section, put in the email you used for the order, and the order # from the confirmation email, and see what you get. :bomb:

That was stupid on their part. The main reason I would use EBgames was because of that guarantee. Thankfully there are plenty of independent sites that can guarantee (even if it costs more, it's worth it).
 
well this totally sucks. I just renewed my edge card a few weeks ago too. I don't like that they dumped the guarantee either and will never order another used game fom them now just because I like my games complete. now I need to find a new place to shop.

I'm done buying preowned games online... all my business will now be going to blockbuster (which has both gamerush and rhino)

I hope that gamecrazy eventually comes to my area so that I have another option.
 
Man, if everyone stays true to their word in this thread, I would think that the abandoning of ebgames.com would take a huge chunk out of CAG's profits.

Perhaps, but I intend to stick to my guns and buy used elsewhere. There is absolutely no reason that they shouldn't be able to guarantee a complete game for current or future generation games. Inever bought used from Gamestop.com for that reason.
 
I think the kicker is the lack of being able to use edge, saver and cag15 on orders. I will do much less impulse buying at work cause there is no way that i will pay their prices for things without the discounts. Ebgames is dead to me now.
 
Phew, my Beatmania order is back in the system. Y'know, they could've at least sent out an email telling customers that they'd be working on the server.

It's a shame that EB's site is turning into GameStop, just when it seemed like maybe they would have been adopted EB's business practices instead.

Yeah, the site sucks now....Can you view more than 10 items at a time? I liked on EBGAmes when you could view 50-75 items at once.

Also, you CANNOT combine coupons anymore...no CAG15 w/SAVER. One code per order it says

This is going to be VERY interesting this year. The new games will still sell but the used should slow down big time.

This is the deal killer for me.

I don't care about guarantee of complete games, but the triple stacker coupon: CAG15/CAG16/PPLAY15, SAVER, Edge Card kills any chance of them getting my business. I have to pay tax and shipping. I might as well just buy it new and local and only pay tax. Screw FREESHIPALL, it saves me a measly $1.99 and their used games are hugely overpriced.

Besides, all the guranteed complete games I have received from EBGames.com have been in shit condition anyway.

I think it depends on how you look at it as what you say I would agree with as far as CAGs go. But the rest of the people that didn't know about the advantages of ordering used from EBgames website that would be split between ordering from either EBgames or Gamestop will now be ordering from gamstop only :(
 
I called them on their main toll-free # and the guy who picked up the phone identified hiimself as Gamestop.com. :shock: Guess that answers that question.
 
The EBEdge card is now useless.....the CAG15 is good if its an expensive used game, but if its under $20 bucks, SAVER is the only one worth using.

Ordered Vice City for Xbox for a friend today...$9.99, reasonable enough. Saver took $3.00 off my order.......but that is, basically, my last purchase from them online. Stackable coupons made all the difference.

Welp they just lost $100s of dollars of bussiness a year from me. Im sure when you add in everyone else upset by this its probally in the $10,000s lost. Hardly anything to a major corparation like them, but really over time it will be alot of money. I mean I was probally spending around $1,000 a year(some less some way more)and now ill probally hardly ever buy anything from them. Over 10 years thats $10,000, if even 10 people here spend that much thats $100k...and chances are atleast 50 other people use that code and spend that much. Again to a major corparation its not a huge loss, but its a big enough loss for them to reconsider this deal.

Anyways, besides this my acount is gone now too. I recently bought a game with them and it didnt work so I sent it back....now they have no record of it.

I hope everyone sends them an email about how shitty this is.

Edit - I would also like to add that I think that used sales are going to go way down. Besides the used deals coupon stacking going bye bye used games are getting harder and harder to find...atleast the decent ones. I saw that ebgames.com had a buy 1 get 1 sale today so I was going to make a purhcase. Half of the games I want are now listed as back ordered, and at gamestop they have been all along. Even before this merger half the games I wanted I found by the time they dropped to $20 were unavailable half the time.

I honestly think that the used game market is going to go WAY down hill and we are going to have a rough few years.
 
I'm sure that all of the features of the site have not been finalized yet (the My Account link is STILL down) so it is possible that they will allow stacking and the use of the Edge card online...but I'm not holding my breath.

My main use of EBGames.com was for their used games and that was mostly because of their "completeness" guarantee, although the stackable CAG1x/Edge/Saver option is nothing to sneeze at.

If the site is basically a mirror of Gamestop.com, then no more ebgames.com for me. I guess I'll start hitting the local GameCrazy stores as I have only been in one once.

I know that Best Buy has some stores that are piloting used game sales. I wonder if the EB/GS merger will prompt them into rolling it out to more stores. There is big money in used game sales.

If you go like your going to place an order in red letters where you insert coupons it states no more then 1 coupon per order. That gives me no hope hehe.

And hopefully gamerush or best buy or someone does step up in the used game sales department. I mean there is as you said alot of money to be made there....but who is gonna buy a used game for $2-$5 less then a new game?
 
Yea, it's not just online. Even the EBGames store I went to today couldn't get Edge card to scan in. The guy even tried the store's "master" card and then even the managers. None of them worked and they were all still vaild. He took the 10% off manually though which is cool. I don't get why it's not working though with no warning. Even they had no idea what the deal was.

I would hold off to see if you can stack the Edge card with the coupons when they actually are working again. Right now all the Edge cards are useless.

Same here, no game for a while. My Edge card doesn't expire until December, and I've never used it in-store before, so it looks like I won't be using it again.
 
Early this morning Barns & Noble took both EB and GS websites down for maintenence. When they came back up, EBgames seems to have adopted GameStop's product description page format.

In other words, even though EB has a slightly different layout and different daily specials, the EB and GS websites now show the same inventory. I bet by the end of the summer GS will completely absorb EB, and all EB traffic will go to GS.
 
Well, I can finally access my orders, and it's not necessarily a good thing, only 4 listed there and "Pre-Owned DBZ Legacy of Goku 1 & 2" turned into "EBMigrated BRIAN SKU - PO-BLOOD FR:MUMMYS TOMB DVD".

Apparently it's only recent + any pre-orders or something.

edit: Either coincidence, or the daily deals are really the same now.
