Jim Jones tha Remix!!! it's all over the world everyone goes crazy when they hear this song...its just too good!

red hot chilli peppers - snow (hey oh) ... It tells a story that many can relate to, yet is very upbeat and catchy.
nice...do you have a link to this or anymore info??
I think he's personally hosting the contest.

Anyway I choose Survivalism by Nine Inch Nails. Although not as gritty as the earlier stuff Trent wrote, the new CD shows not only a musical evolution, but one that delves into who Trent is as a person and how he has grown. It is awesome. :)

Tool - 10,000 Days (The song). It offered a personal look at the lead singer which wasn't really offered prior.

Mimz- this is why I'm hot

Reason 1: Because its going to make an average joe rich and famous with a nice beat to boot!

Reason 2: #1 on billboards hot 100

Rich Boy - Throw Some D's on It

the hook is contagious and once one person says it, everyone starts repeating it..."just bought a cadillac, Throw some D's on it, on it!!!"

Unknown song from unknown artist to come out later this year. I'm playing the odds.

Unless this is for 2006, in which case it should be noted in the OP.

i'll go with "my violent heart" by nine inch nails. the year is early, but this song is the best new track i've heard, closely followed by "me, i'm not". this new nin project is definitely my most anticipated new music of 2007. i believe others like bjork and queens of the stone age will also be solid, but the atmosphere of year zero is just too new and interesting to ignore.

Hmm, I'd like to give up my vote in exchange for that you not pick a rap "song" as technically (and this is strictly imo) its not music, and alot of it can hardly be considered rhythm.

However if I were to pick a song of the year, I'd have to go with the band Sonata Arctica's song: The Cage. Why? Because we need more bands and songs like this to bring back music worth listening to, not this crap thats on TRL and many radio stations.

Throw some D's on that bitch!
but seriously, its gotta be that Mims remix: 'this is why I'm hot' killer beat, made even better by some nice Reggae patwa

Song of the Year? Easy.

David Bowie - "Five Years"

Reason? Because we've got five years, that's all we got! (2012, here we come!)

Hell yeah that's an awesome song

If you're drinking well you know that you're my friend and I say
"I think I'll have myself a beer"

Internet Porn: DaVinci's Notebook

Juvenile? Perhaps. Offensive? Certainly not something you blast at a Cub Scout meeting. Humorous? Depends. But how many upbeat acapella songs make reference to a wide variety of the smut available on this wonderful digital network? ;)

I'll go w/ that Gym Class Heroes song "Cupid's Chokehold" cuz :

I know I'm young but if I had to choose her or the sun
I'd be one nocturnal son of a gun

just makes a grown man giggle :)

Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City

Reason:

These guys kick ass! They are even better live from what I hear. It's just one of those songs that doesn't get tiring, not too poppy, and is not annoyingly stuck in your in head all day. Every time you hear it, you want to turn it up louder. The beat and sound is just awesome! Aaron kicks ass!
Song of the year...because girls need something real. ;)

To be clear, I guess it's called "Dick in a Box" by Justin Timberlake.
I'm not trying to win, but I've got to give it to this one. Priceless!

I hated that song, lol - that song gets on my nerves. My friend had it on repeat and I wanted to slit my wrists. This is why i'm hot, you aint because you not.. repeat x100.

A fave of mine right now is "Sly" by The Cat Empire.

I too have to go with something off of Year Zero. My favorite off of the album is "In This Twilight" by Nine Inch Nails. The industrial beats make me happy he has gone back to his roots, yet at the same time the soft vocals that go along with the song give me goosebumps. Love this song.

Punkrocker (Feat. Iggy Pop) - Teddybears

Reason: If you heard the song then you know why, plus its in like every commercial on tv!
R.E.M - Mad World

Because that shit is sick, and made very popular by the Gears of War Commercials.
that's not REM who did that version though...it's Gary Jules.
