If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.
What I do is.. you know when you go to the Uncharted 2 page and near the middle it says something like "Viewers who've purchased this item, also purchased..." and it gives you another game right next to it and the total price for both items? Well, I just browse through that game, or even select I own it. I've gotten a couple games in my Gold Box that way.

I haven't been getting a lot of games in my GB though. Half and half with law school prep books.

I don't think it's just you... there are plenty of people who seem to be getting crappy Goldbox picks lately. I got a few decent games while ECA was down but as soon as it was back, my Goldbox went back to being crap.

Yeah, it's like they knew. One day while ECA was down (actually, it was Monday, as I had used up my "one time, one use" code on the Pikmin DOTD which I bet triggered this), I had Metroid Other M, Wii Super Mario Bros, and 2-3 other *big* name Wii games.

Since then I've mostly had lawn equipment and BBQ covers. sigh. (although today's slightly better, at least a game or 2 and a Bluray or two, nothing I want though)

I just got my prize package for helping the ECA fix the most recent issue with the amazon codes. They sent it FedEx overnight which is awesome! There could have been cooler stuff, but for free and something I wasn't expecting at all, it's awesome.

In it was:

 • 2X T-Shirt (which I like)
 • 2x ECA Logo Pin
 • ECA Logo bag thingie, it has pull strings and I THINK it can be work as a backpack kinda, not sure.
 • Giant ECA pen
 • Guitar Hero keychain
 • A year membership to the ECA:)bouncy::bouncy:)
The best thing was the year membership of cause, since I'm not a member yet that's really an awesome bonus! Here is a photo I took of everything:
Oh, that's pretty sweet. How did you help fix the issue?
I should rephrase it :whistle2:#

I called a few days ago and the guy who is the head of marketing was unaware of any issues at all. I am unsure who was responding to the forum posts people made at the ECA site, but...oh well. He asked me to send him this thread in an email so he could read it over and work with amazon to resolve the issues. That was the same day that the issues got fixed. so to me it seems rather...an odd coincidence that the issues were around for about two weeks without an resolution and the day I call it gets fixed. I didn't do much, but posting on these forums to moan and groan does nothing to fix the problem. A nice and friendly call not only got the issue fixed, but I got some nice swag as well.

Thanks man. Sounds like we all owe you one for your diligence. Glad to see you got some cool stuff for it.

Quick question, and I apologize if this has been answered earlier:

Today, Golden Sun DS is in my quick picks, but Amazon has the MSRP at $39.99, with their current pre-order price at $37.99; Gamestop has it for $34.99. I find it hard to believe it'll stay that expensive on Amazon, since SquareEnix is usually the only publisher to sell DS games at $39.99.

My question is, though, if I pre-order Golden Sun from my quick picks (5% off) and use my ECA discount (another 10% off), will I still get the pre-order price guarantee off the original price of, in this case, $37.99? So, for example, if Amazon drops the price to $34.99, will they adjust my order so that I get my 15% off the new price? Sorry if that sounds more confusing than it needs to be...

Yes, your gold box and promo price reductions will adjust accordingly

Thanks. I take donations in the form of money, Amazon credit, PSN/XBL points, GameStop credit, or just games in general...;);)

Another great Gold Box, pre-ordered 2 more items, I have Uncharted 2 in there as well but I'll pass on that for now. Went thru my recommendations a few times as well to weed out the crap. And I was going to ask a question on here but Maromi already did that.

How do I view items in my Goldbox? I don't see a link for it anymore :(

I'd love to get cheaper games in my Goldbox, but I'm not even sure where I should be looking.

Also, the 10% off ECA coupon takes 10% off the original item, correct? Because if use it towards the Call of Duty Prestige Edition, that discount would pay for the membership itself.

And, can somebody clarify the expiration date for me? It says that these ECA codes expire in September. Does that mean after September I cannot get 10% off from Amazon any longer? Or does that only mean I won't be able to sign up for the ECA after those codes expire, until a new batch is released?

I would appreciate it if somebody can answer these questions for me. I'm very interested in signing up.

Gah lucky SOB! Send U2 from your Gold Box over to me so I can get it for around $20 or less with my 50% code!

Go here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=cs_top_nav_gb27 and scroll down a bit and you should see some items, if not make sure you're logged in.

You'll get 10% off the amazon price. So for MW2 you'll get $15 off. The current batch of codes expire in September, after that Amazon is going to need to re-issue a batch of codes if they want to still of course.

Just a few questions. Interested in joining but, when I looked on here yesterday it seemed people were mad and weren't getting discounts anymore but today its all fixed again?

I need to know how long it will take from signing up until getting my code?

I think codes take off the original Amazon price before 50% off with the trade in deal? I think this may have been answered but not sure.

It was fixed a day or two ago, but very recently.

I am not a member yet, so not sure.

From what I read if a game is $60, it'll take $6 off and $30 off, making it $34.

My recommendations look like somebody through up a video game store. Hell my front page on Amazon looks as bad as Gamestop now. Let's see what I get in my gold box.

When does the Gold box stuff change?

60 - 36 = 24

So these coupon codes, can they be used on more than one different amazon account?

I have 3 50% deals coming on 3 different accounts/addresses. Will the codes work for all of them?

Yes

thanks newlu, will definitely sign up for this once I get my 50% coupon codes.

3 games, one possibly being MW2 prestige, it seems well worth it. Even if it only worked 3 times, but with residual trade in credit this will come in handy for sure.

Just signed up and bought the xbox 360 hard drive that was in my gold box with the trade in credit/deal. Already almost paid for itself. It took the discount off the $135 price and not the list $160 price.

So what's the deal with the codes? Are they suppose to work on accessories? I know it says software on their site, but everyone seems to get them to work with accessories anyway.
So can these codes now be used multiple times per day,or is it back to the 1x per day rule??
As far as I know from reading the thread, the codes can now be used on multiple items, multiple times. That is, you can use one code for all the games in your cart. You can also come back later in the day and use a new code on another order. Also, it was NEVER 1x per day...for some reason it was 1 per account! That's why there was such an uproar earlier.
Reading the thread before posting is a great and awesome thing.
Agreed.
So what's the deal with the codes? Are they suppose to work on accessories? I know it says software on their site, but everyone seems to get them to work with accessories anyway.
Well, I haven't tried in on any accessories yet, but judging from other people it seems to work. I don't mean to be rude, but why don't you just try it...unless you don't have an ECA membership?

TY pjb and Saix. Good to see this works on accessories too even though the site only mentions games (I don't have account yet, but from what others say). I see that they automatically resign you up after the year is over and charge your cc again unless you call them and cancel it.

I just joined, plan on using the ESA coupon on the Turtle Beach X4, so thats a $16 discount, almost paid for the membership already, and also use my 50% Amazon Coupon
Sweet, Krazyazn. My first time getting sigged. It almost makes reading people's dumb questions worthwhile...
First time I've used someone's response as a signature. I hope nobody's offended, but you don't have read all 25~26 pages to know the answer. The last couple pages is enough to know that everything works again. Whatever, I'm just glad it works again so I can order Scribblenauts.

I'm asking because I'm trying to get the ECA to work on the Logitech G25, and for some reason it doesn't work, despite the G25 being an accessory/controller (most likely an error classifying the wheel as something other than a vg acc.). Now I dunno if it can fly with them when inquiring about it since it says no where that the codes can apply to accessories, but people are able to get them to work on other accessories (i.e. Madcatz TE stick).

Epic fail on the math my friend. (just kidding there :)

The ECA pays itself if you buy games at a normal basis though. I have been preordering top games for the holidays from my gold box at $48 shipped like Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Batman Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect 2. Saved $24 on those four alone, and have about 6 other preorders. I can also cancel these preorders before the game comes out no questions asked.

Is it only things listed in the videogame department, like the 50% code is? Looks that way.

Hi Nightmare,

2 quick questions:

When you generate a code from the ECA website, do you get it right there and then? or is it emailed to you? I ask because I do have a .edu email address that I was considering using to sign up in order to get the membership to the ECA 5 bucks cheaper but said email address it's a pain to use. (The servers are terrible and they're down most of the time). I just want to make sure codes are given to you on the website instead of emailed to you, because if they are emailed, I'd rather pay 5 bucks more and use my regular email address .

And question 2, How do you get the games you want in your Goldbox? I ask because I want to pre-order Modern Warfare 2 and would like to do the Gold Box thing as well.

Cheers.

You get the code right there on the ECA site, it just generates a new one each time as text on the site, the email is never used except to sign in and receive mail (which is just news). Its super fast to get a code, just click on the "generate new code" button and a new code will pop-up. Easiest way to get the code in my opinion.

The goldbox trick, check you recommendation and make sure you are only using games for your recomendations for Amazon. That should do it. It takes a while to sometimes clear all other non-gaming items from the recomendations criteria, but its worth it. Also rate a couple of upcoming games similar to the one you want and put em in your wish list, it helps a lot. Remember if you put a game on your wish list or rate it, it will not show up in your goldbox (aka, the games you want in the gold box, you mustn't touch or put anywhere, stupid Amazon system but thats how it is).

Hope that helped someone.

i'll definitely get this once my amazon trade orders are done. Why waste an extra few days on the subscription if I'm not going to buy anything.

Old Boy = Great movie.

Question, When I use my ESA discount code on say an item that is $100, but I got a $50 gift card balance ON MY ACCOUNT, will my discount be the full $10? or only $5 (cause my giftcard balance is applied automaticaly. and does this work in conjunction with the 50% off game/accessory code?
