If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.
That's right -- you can do that, but once you do, wouldn't the discount only apply to that specific order and not for any others?
Nope, and many people have mistaken this for the fabled one-time use codes. Now that I know they don't expire in your account, it makes my stored discounts that much smarter.

Thanks. Used a "credit card" that came in a general mills box. Even if they did charge it, the card only has $5 on it and it expires months before renewal. :cheeky:
download the plug-in on your Paypal account's main page.
Thanks it worked.

I got it, thanks OP. :)

saw this on slick deals, OP - thank you!!!!

glad I waited and saved $20 with more to save in the next year!!!!

why isn't this on the front page?????
ahhh this is probably going to screw us over.
Yes it will.

Too many 10% offs means Amazon kills this code after 9/30.

I seriously can't believe they did this. Not only is it going to run unchecked, but it's a slap in the face to people who paid for the membership. They're just opening the floodgate to resale of codes (it's free; nothing to lose) and it's going to kill this benefit. Pretty sad really.

I'd be bummed if I hadn't bought the ECA membership to use the 10% off ($25) on the Beatles Rock Band set, combined with a 50% trade-in coupon. Ends up all working out, anyway. Factor in the $51 trade-in credit I had, and I got the whole band set for $48 out of pocket---which made the whole set (normally a tremendous rip-off at $250), a crazy good deal.

I suppose you could consider the ECA TO be a good cause to support, anyway, although I'm not entirely sure how effective they are at politicking.

Slightly annoying..I don't really care about paying before. I mean, I used it on 130~ worth of merchandise already, so if I didn't have eca a month ago and got it free now I would have only saved 2 bucks total. But I agree that I really don't see how this benefits them. Maybe half off or something, charge 10 bucks flat for anyone signing up regardless of e-mail, but free? And good game amazon discount, I really can't imagine that staying very long.

Awesome. Just signed up and immediately used a coupon for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Total was just under 40 dollars shipped. Nice deal. Thanks for the heads up!

Why does everyone believe they won't have anymore Amazon codes in the future? If you're able to horde them now, you'll be able to horde them later. I don't see that changing. Game Informer either paid for a certain amount of free memberships or this is what the ECA wanted to boost their numbers (as to prove they have a huge userbase).

A benefit is a benefit. If this is the reason you paid for it, that's on you. The main reason they wanted your money was to support the gaming industry and not for freebies. That's also the reason you gave them money in their book.
RIP Amazon discount.
I'm e-mailing ECA to explain their folly and requesting they limit the number of free accounts, because they're truly shooting themselves in the foot for all the benefits, not just the obvious one.

I can see the message "Due to overwhelming response the promo is no longer available" in someobne's future. The thread was posted 2 hours ago & it's had 2,200+ views. I can see this really getting out of hand if someone were to post it on SlickDeals or FatWallet:lol:

Because I believe some of the fine print reads they can discontinue this promo anytime.
If I were Amazon, this would be a good reason to.

the codes expire on September 30th

and it seems hard to believe after this massive influx of new members that Amazon would renew an unlimited 10% coupon deal

at best we might get a limited number now per a person

I wonder if they'll cancel some or all of these new memberships? The thread was posted 2 hours ago & it's had 2,200+ views. I can see this really getting out of hand if someone were to post it on SlickDeals or FatWallet:lol:
Bad news buddy, it's already on slickdeals. But hey, at least they gave a CAG credit for it.

sweet. I buy very few games brand new from amazon a year which is why i hadn't signed up for it before, but with the coupon I can fairly easily justify doing so now.

sorry to all of those who bought a membership just prior to seeing this thread.

Thanks for this deal! I recently got Amazon Prime, and was just about to sign up for this anyway. I just canceled and replaced all my open game orders, and saved over $70 in total on pre-orders. :applause:

doubt the codes make it till the end of the month... actually I'd be surprised if they make it through the weekend...

hopefully they have the linked codes coming next month or else it prolly will be dead...
