free pokemon xd with decal at circuit city?

I seriously doubt it seeing as how if you look at the actual weekly add it says with purchase of GameCube but it's worth trying. Free is good.
Someone confirm this quick so we can steal Pokemon games.
that statement is so friggin true

Just go in, pick up the game, and walk out with it. If they stop you, just show them the printout from online. They'll let you go and apologize. I did this 48 times today.

EDIT: YMWV

DUDE, IT WORKED FOR ME, LET ME WALK OUT 32 TIMES. THEY CONFRONTED ME ABOUT IT THE 33RD TIME AND I SHOWED THE AD AND THEY LET ME PASS AWESOME DEAL. yeah.... right

Hah, I tried this (not just walking out with it), and brought the ad and everything with me. Of course, the manager had to be called out and the line was held up and everything. I just kept reffering to the ad and he eventually gave in, but told me I could only do it once (which is b.s. if they advertised.. oh well). So yea.. my guess is that as long as you stand your ground you'd have a pretty good chance of getting at least 1.

I think I need to change my pants. I just might try this...hmm.
Did you really walk out with the game? I dont understand how any CC manager would honor this.
Yeah... I'd laugh in someone's face if a customer was ballsy enough to try and exploit that.

Same. Thanks for the great deal, OP!

I just showed the ad and they were like, "Oh, good for you!" and gave me an extra $5.

I only need 28 copies tho, who wants the rest?

Me and a fellow CAG went to try this at our local CC. We showed them both the printed out version and online, they refused to give it to us. So I called corporate and told him about it, he told me to send him a link and he'll contact me monday. I'll let you know how it turns out.

People say to look at this in the context of the ad, but I see no video games in the 2-page Charlotte NC ad this is linked to...

check that link it doesnt say anything about buying a system it also says limit three per title so i dont no what is going on someone should give it a try
I looked that up in my local CC ad and the "free Pokemon XD game & decal" statement is right over a Gamecube system - Limited Edition Pokemon XD Platinum GameCube Bundle $99.99. So it probably won't work in my area. If you did trick the CC employees into thinking it was for free without purchase, then that's pretty cool.

The argument is you can put it into your cart and it still says free. The instore catalog clearly shows it with a gamecube. Therefore it is unlikely to trick a CC employee unless they are totally blind. Once oyu show them the print out they will reach for there weekly instore ad and prove you wrong.
Dicks like you guys make me glad I no longer work in retail.
You wouldn't honor the mistakes of your corporate overlord? Hell, if I worked at CC and be happy to see people get free games. Of course, I'd call my manager and stuff to make sure I didn't get in any trouble, but if they got the game for free I'd be all for it.

Just to settle this debate...

Depends on if they were a dick about it or not. If they were just trying to get a cheap/free game, then sure, but if they made a big fuss and started yelling or something, I'd be mighty pissed.

well technically couldnt u get the pokemon game for free if you bought the Mario Party bundle, since that is a gamecube Bundle..., i would think thats your best chance for taking advantage of this, u could probably ebay the Pokemon for $40 and finish with a brand new GC for only $60 net.. Sell off mario party and u can have a new gamecube for $20...
Also the Pokemon game and decal actually comes inside the Gamecube system as its bundled together. I nearly forgot this detail.
yeah but im figuring u could weasel a loose copy if u tried

Standing there in front of the manager (who probably makes like $30k a year) and whining because you want to rip off this store is being a dick. Yeah, it would be really fun to have someone lose their job because you want a game!

Here's my thing....

Its one thing if say its a legitimate offer to get a game for free (or low cost) with no strings attached. Its another when all other advertising for the free game make it clear that YES its free with purchase with a Gamecube except for the link on the .com site (which that in itself if you go back a page to the ad listings again reenforces the "free with system purchase").

Don't get me wrong I'm all for cheap ass games and such, but at the same time I'm also against anything that to me is wrong. Yes CC.com should of stated on the page that its "free with system purchase" on the link that got posted in this thread. However to me I don't feel its right to exploit this fully knowing what the real promotion is supposed to be.

Sarcasm and convictions aside, who truely tried this? I'm sure someone has. And more importantly, did you really get away with it?

Exactly.

http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/bund...-Get into GameCube-_-Web-only GameCube bundle

I just check there site and saw the GC pokemon bundle at $175, Makes me think that those of you that argue that the game is supposed to be in the box have a flawed arguement because they decided to advertize the bundle this way on their site. I realize that the ad is for this upcoming week, but im just pointing out that they list everything seperately in the bundle, and charge accordingly

I used to work in retail and was more than happy to honor price mistakes and blunders in the ad, but I always took a degree of personal offense to people who walked in and tried to scam us out of a product. You can say "it says it on the site!" all you want, but you know full well that this deal isn't legit and that the regular instore ad says you have to purchase the system. Now if you came in and were honest and friendly about it, I might let you get the game (if it's not gonna cause me any flack), but if you try to argue the merits of it with me, you're insulting my intelligence while also putting my job at risk. As I said earlier in the thread though, attempting something like this takes alot of balls... and ususally the people who go for it aren't the easy going, friendly types.

I MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT try this, but definitely won't argue my way through it. If it works, great. If it doesn't, I can still shop for some clearance stuff.

I'm with GameDude on this one. This is an out-of-context link to a clearly-marked ad ("with the purchase of a GameCube bundle"). I'm all for taking advantage of legitimate discounts and rebates to get cheap stuff... I'm not for trying to scam for a free game.

Either no one actually tried this, no manager reported to corp about this, or no one gives a fuck. If this WAS a problem it would take less than 2 minutes to add the words. "System purchase Required" to the website.

I tried this and it worked without a hitch. I scored 14 copies it was all they had) The manager was so nice he even offered me the phone number of any Circuit City girl I wanted.

No go at the Miami CC, but still good at the Orlando one. Miami was all out of copies of XD(they said some eBay hoarders came in earlier and took them all), so they gave me a bunch of XD cards instead. Orlando gave me every last copy of Pokemon XD, then when I asked for more, they shrugged and gave me a real live Pokemon. Anyone know the trade-in value of Sandshrew at Gamerush?
