Whenever I try to play a game on my Xbox360 this is happening:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

no red rings, nothing just a frozen screen. I cannot play for more then a minute, and after I reset the xbox doesnt boot, no rings at all. Am I boned???

Hm. Does your TV work fine with cable on normal shows? I'm a little concerned because that's the TV I have too! o_O

If the TV works fine, then it could be the 360's video crapping out. You will get a red ring of some kind pretty soon I'm sure.

ive seen more RROD and deadish 360s than most ever will. your 360 is suffering from the same thing as everyone elses, and eventually will totally RROD. get it warrantied, or find someone to fix it.

Looking at the artifacts, I'd say you're well on your way to an e74 error. So, that's fun.

Sorry, man.

yikes!

i bought it used on craigslist in 2008, the previous owner returned it under warrenty for RROD and MS fixed it.

I do beleiveth i art boned

Dont worry about the 42" Panasonic, that works just fine :)

For some reason when I read the thread title I literally expected an Xbox encased in ice. I really don't know why my mind jumped to such a literal image given the context.

haha, I thought the same thing. Guess I should have known, given this is the xbox we are talking about.

Exact same thing happened to me minutes before getting the RROD, I shut the system off and on like four times just thinking that it was just the game then bam red ring.

Yup, video card is dying or losing contact with the board. Not good.

I also wasn't sure if I was going to see pictures of an xbox frozen in ice. Maybe instead of getting this one fixed, you should indeed just freeze it in a block of ice?? j/k

I had that a few years ago. Its a video card problem. I was luckily able to get it to red ring, so it worked out.

My 360 is doing the same thing. The only difference is that the pixelation is worse on mine. I can play XBLA games without any issues but anything else is unplayable.

Any tips on getting the 360 to rrod quicker would be appreciated. I left it on for 4 hours last night (NHL 2010 cpu vs cpu) but nothing happened. I just want it to get the error message so I can get it fixed/replaced by MS.

Apologies in advance to the OP for threadjacking.

i did too... maybe thats the secret to the rrod of death, you freeze it and it works again?

Well if you have no warranty just order a kit and fix it your self. It's really easy. The first time is the hardest but so far I've fixed about 10 of them cause I'm so use to them now. They last a good long time too. The one I just got and fixed was from 08 with HDMI (not a jasper) and it has been running strong and I use the console for a good 8 hours a day on some days when they say to run it no more than 3 hours.

Buy a PS3 and fix the problem for good. Lol.

Someone is going to complain about that, but it's true.

Of course, the Xbox RRoD this morning.

Why are some people trying to get a RRoD? This blows.

I'm going to pay a guy on craigslist $50 to fix it. I have too many games and XBL content to just chalk it up to a loss.

Did you get E74? Go on Microsoft's website, enter your info, and even if it says "out of warranty" select E74 (whichever you got) and see if the total charge changes to $0.00 before you do anything else.

I did this and it said "serial number already registered"

Save money and get the kit off Llama's site. You'll be saving your self 40 bucks. Enough for another game. It's honestly not that hard. Trust me.

I agree with the fix it yourself method. My same pro unit has RROD about 6 times, the first time it was a real pain to fix, but I just got on youtube, watched the videos, bought about $20 worth of tools and needed parts, and toughed it out. Now I can take a 360 apart and fix it in about 30 minutes. Of course if you're under warranty go for that, but I bought mine used and with no warranty so I had no choice.
