If HGST is a WD company (hard to keep track of who's who still in the drive industry), then they should be reasonably quality drives. Though, when Samsung's HDD business was picked up by Seagate, the SpinPoint drives seemed to be getting worse in quality.

FYI, HGST stands for Hitachi Global Storage Technology.
When you open up the package, the HDD says "HITACHI" on it. In fact, the label looks identical (in format & style) to the same HDD Sony is currently putting in the 250GB PS3 Superslims, which also has HITACHI HDDs in them.
Both drives share the exact same RPM rating, and voltage requirements....
