Fun OT Question: Which Star Trek "Race" Do You Most Identify With?
Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Ferengi, Borg, Gem Haddar or other.

I say Romulan.
Who were the unemotional ones that only believed in logic? I identify with them.

Borg.:D

and to show my true level of nerdness I choose the Crystalline Entity.

Truly nerdy.:) Isn't that the thing that ate the universe or something crazy like that? Or was it that thing that knew it all and could do all?
Borg.:D

I prefer cardboard cutout time machine + fog machine. Guess which episode THAT'S from!

But, if I need to relate to a species, I prefer Federation. Calm, mostly peaceful and ready to research all alternatives before heading into battle.

It's the thing that collaborated with Lore to destroy the inhabitants on the planet that Data was found. It appeared in season 5 and started wiping out another planet. A scientist who was a mother of a man on the planet that Data was from has been researching the entity for many years sought revenge and destroyed it.

Episodes 113 and 504 are the two episodes in which it appears (Datalore and Silicon Avatar). It's referenced many times when Lore is mentioned.

I = super star trek nerd!

Q was the thing that knew and could do it all. I excluded "Q" because everyone would want to be "Q".

The logical ones were the Vulcans, sooooo boring.

Well, I guess I'm boring. Must resist running away and crying......no emotion.....

Oh, now I remember! I don't think it's the fact that you know it makes you a nerd, but the fact that you know the episode # kinda frightens me.:)

I don't want to be Q, in fact I didn't enjoy most of the Q episodes. Although the one with Captain Pickard and the exploding heart was pretty good.
I say Romulan.
The question, though: the Romulans of the original series, or the Next Generation? In the time period between the two series, it seems like the Romulans and the Klingons got their racial characteristics mixed up: In TOS, the Romulan are presented as brave, honor-bound warriors, while the Klingons are sly and devious. Somehow, in the intervening time between the two series, the Romulans became scheming and underhanded, while the Klingons became the honor-bound warriors. Just another one of the major inconsistencies in the Star Trek universe...

Anyway, I pick the Yarn People of Nylar 4. Wait, that was Futurama... I guess I would have to say Bajoran/Vulcan half-breed.

Romulans of ST:TNG. TOS Romulans were the long lost Vulcan brothers that never lost their emotions.

I preferred the strong, devious and technically advanced versions of TNG. Reminded me of a Shogun era Japan with Western technology.

They remind me of Soviet Communists.

EDit: Completely forgot. I do wish someone would notice my avatar .

Minor detail, but it is Jem'Hadar.

I am probably a mix of Vulcan and Klingon. I'm part Vulcan because I try to think before I speak and I try to be dispassionate as much as possible. I'm part Klingon because I am big enough to be one.

At least no one has said Tribble yet. :whistle2:#

Obviously Trekkies. Gene Roddenbury said he invented the term himself!

fuck the Crystalline Entity. All it did was munch on a few worlds until it was shattered with the deflector beam.

Species 8472 for the win. :D Collest looking character evar.

Good point 8472 were a bunch of hardasses. It took the borg and federation teaming up to even put a dent on em.
Ha! Nobody watched Voyager.
And even fewer people watched Enterprise, hence the reason that Star Trek is dead.

fuck you, that was a great show. :booty:

I blame Scott Bacula and their shitty cast. That show was a bore-fest like none other. Thy were just trying to capitalize on the whole prequel thing that everyone was doing. (see: Star Wars)

Voyager was a better show than most people give it credit for.

The only thing I didn't like was that Q started off great in TNG but became watered down too much for my tastes in Voyager.

Voyager had its moments but really messed up in several key areas.

1. They sissified the Borg. Possibly the coolest sci-fi bad guys ever created and they made them into total deal-making wusses.

2. Q: For some reason he lost his edge on Voyager. I don't know what it is but he lost "it." Doesn't he have anything better to do than harass the only 2 Starfleet captains with their own TV shows?

3. They relied on the holodeck for story lines WAY too much (the doc was cool though).

4. They pulled the Dungeons and Dragons "we-see-a-way-home-but-we're-not-going-to-take-it-for-stupid-morality-reasons" all the time. The show could have ended at least 3 times per season.

5. There was no payoff at the end. They should have gotten back home 3 or 4 episodes earlier so we could see them try to reintegrate with Starfleet (watching 7 of 9 try to cope with life on Earth would have been especially great). They told us so many stories over the years about their families and we got none of it.

6. All episodes with Barclay and Deanna were just awful. No "special guest stars" are required to make the show work.

I could go on and on. I liked Voyager (because I like Star Trek in general) but I think it is the worst out of what I've seen (I never watched Enterprise but I plan to rent the DVDs eventually).

1. True, but there was Species 8472. 'Nuff said. ;)

2. Yup. At least I still have 'Q's Guide to the Continuum'. Great book.

3. Indeed. I wish that a couple of the books had been turned into episodes, too.

4. Then you wouldn't have a season-length show.

5. Right. It was like the Halo 2 ending.

6. I've always hated that moronic bumbler Barclay. :bomb: Harry Kim pissed me off, too. Him and Chipotle (Chakotay).

Voyager was just fun to watch, although there were some serioulsy tedious episodes, such as ones that featured Tuvok. Janeway, the EMH and Seven of Nine were my favourite, they seemed to have the most developed personalities (save the EMH, he was just comedic value for me). Enterprise was just awful. You understand in the first episode. They even have the token 'Tex' character.

:applause:
The thing I hated most about the show was the differences in technology between Voyager and everyone. Either Voyager could take on a whole fleet of ships or like the borg they couldn't take on one. It would have been nice to see voyager in an actual 1 on 1 dog fight.

Another minor detail is that the OP has the Federation listed as a "race", but it's made up of more then 150 species.

I'm most like the humans. I'm a good person, and I do what's right most of the time.

 Chipotle...

One thing about Voyager is that it arguably got the best video game treatment compared to the other series in Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force for the PC.

What I hated about Voyager, was that all of the command meetings seemed to be "Starship command by committee" in that Janeway didn't exude any sort of authority. Everyone was questioning her orders and she was changing her mind...

Recently I picked up a copy, and am enjoying Enterprise a great deal.

On Topic again, I would be Andorian. I like how they deal with the Vulcans in Enterprise.

Elite Force II was better, and on the Enterprise-E.

I have it, but my current PC can't handle it. I liked Bridge Commander too.
