Futurama direct-to-DVD movie update

Might as well post the quote from Billy West (voice of Fry, Professor Farnsworth, etc.)

HERE'S GREAT NEWS!
Here's the official word on Futurama!!
David X. phoned me about an hour ago and said that this Futurama project
is a done deal! Here's the word from DX---
There are 4 DVD movies that we'll start recording at the end of July or
August.Full feature length FUTURAMA movies.
Everybody is excited to get back together--as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy
I am cautiously optimistic, a 80 to 90 minute feature (I am assuming this will roughly be its length) with no commercials is a whole other animal than a 22 minute episode of Futurama.

That's true. I'd hate it to feel watered down or stretched out. Still, I'm hoping that these happen, sell well, and lead to a Family Guy style rebirth for the show. A lot to hope for, I know.

I'm not hoping for a family guy style rebirth. Family Guy really sucked this season (at least the first half did. I haven't watched any for a while).

It's my hope that the Futurama rebirth won't suck quite as badly as Family guy's managed to. However, I have faith in Futurama. It has always been a superior show.

Futurama was the best. I don't care much for Simpsons, and while I like Family Guy well enough, Futurama was always a much deeper show. While it was always hilarious, it had a much better capacity than the others to actually be a fairly touching show, at times. It was the great characters, really.

I hope the Futurama resurrection goes well. I'm excited!

Woo! Futurama resurrection all the way. I love the show and even more so than the Simpsons or Family Guy. I would much rather have Futurama as anything they put out is a 100 times better than anything Simpsons or Family Guy have put out. That show is just hilarious.
I apologize if this is a repost, but I took a quick look and didn't see it mentioned anywhere. Just saw this little news item on tvshowsondvd.com. Very encouraging news for anyone like me who would sell body parts to see new Futurama. :D

Actually, I just meant I hope they bring it back and start making new episodes like they did with Family Guy. I've never been a big FG fan, so I haven't even seen any of the new episodes. I think that if Futurama does manage to come back, and brings back all of the voice talent and at least most of the same writers, quality won't be a concern.
Sweet Zombie Jesus! I'm glad that Futurama is getting a well-deserved second chance. Now let's hope it succeeds.
Actually, it's the Channukah Zombie.
mmmmm slurm, i mean mmmmm more futurama
Yep, and nothing goes better with Slurm then a heaping bowl of Bachelor Chow.

Futurama was always a superior show IMO. Fox really gave it a shitty timeslot after awhile.

In a way, I hope they just stick to the movie format. I'd hate to see the show get worn thin like the Simpsons.
